I put it in spoiler tags for people who haven't gotten to the third level yet and who want to have a go at it unspoiled. Even though if I had known certain things before going into this level that would have made it easier, I'm glad I didn't, because it was cool figuring out an alternative to the regular play style. But if someone is well and truly stuck, it's good to have something to look up what to do.

As for running, and this applies to pretty much all levels, I would do it in small bursts, unless being actively pursued, in which case you should just book it. And since
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
time is of the essence at the beginning of the mine level, I would make good use of that sprint to try and hit as many generators as possible before active pursuit shows up. But again, short bursts, don't use it all up because you will need it later.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The reason I said to just look for them during the first 3 minutes is because there are 2 ways for melty too spawn, either at the 3 minute mark or when you turn on the first generator. Whichever happens first causes him to spawn. Do note that he seems to get super aggressive for about 30 seconds if you don't find a generator at 3 minutes. Though you may as well use your first few free minutes for recon.

I did this for the 8 pages level as well, but instead of looking for pages, I just went to the wheat field and grabbed my first page there. Since it's impossible to line of sight slendy in the field, it tended to be the most deadly area for me.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I use the 3 minutes to just dash to each place the generators can appear and activate them. I can potentially get over half of the generators activated without Screecy approaching me in this way. Of course, you'll need to have played the stage a few times to know where they may appear.

Well, the answer is obvious: Try one way, & if it doesn't work, try the other. At least now I know how I'm supposed to get away from it, thanks.

So nobody's managed to get or find screen caps of the images that flash at the end game before the credits? On this forum? I am disappointed.

Also has anyone who bought the special edition been able to download the concept art because every time I try it just fails to download.

I'm pretty sure that someone has already done that.

Yeah Evan did that.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So is anyone else imagining that CR had to drag Kate through the woods for the whole game? She jumped out of a second story window... I think it makes the most sense if she's the one who becomes Growly (yeah using yet another nickname) but... did she become crazy enough to ignore broken legs? I'm not sure how that works.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm starting to think it was Charles. He shows more signs of depravity, his hair is black, all signs point to Kate working against Slenderman, & Lauren says she "ought to look out for him," suggesting that she does indeed meet him--even if she doesn't know it. And the main reason I said it was a woman was facial structure, which is irrelevant, since I now realize that it's wearing a mask.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The main thing that made me think it wasn't Charles was the body type. I might not be remembering clearly enough though and I think I'll pass on going back to the mines to double-check as that place scares the hell out of me. It is kinda weird that Kate would go back to the mine to beat you up despite her interest in ending things at the tower. It could be Charles down there. However, I still think Kate's the one at the radio tower at the end.

We never see Kate's body, even though we found CR's. Plus, those threatening messages in the cave about how "everything ends with you" imply Kate has come to the conclusion that she must kill Lauren to "stop" Slenderman. I don't think they were from CR and directed towards Kate, as he seemed to be keeping his plan secret until he actually enacted it and the style of the crazy scrawls match the scrawls in Kate's room. In the hardcore ending, Lauren's killer even goes to the trouble of bringing her to the top of the radio tower and dropping her off. If it was Charles, he'd have just beaten her to death. I did think it was odd how they didn't show who was chasing Lauren except for brief flashes, yet earlier showed her pursuer in the mines in full.

Alright! I had some friends up last night, & with a mixture of cheating & actual effort, we managed to finish the game. Lot of spoilers to follow:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Kate apparently has black hair too. She also sounds like the proxy when she whispers. This puts her back in the running for proxy. However, the note "this house has to go" suggests to me that she set it on fire, & that's what caused the forest fire. This does mean that she DID go crazy & DID have to head back down through the mines, & so could have encountered you, but I'm not sure how she can be down at her house setting it on fire & attacking you at tower at the same time. At no other point does the proxy demonstrate teleportation. "What about the end?" you ask? Well, I have an interpretation for that too:

You aren't teleporting, you're fighting with the proxy. Because your camera is running out of batteries, & maybe even because of Slendernanigans, the recording is cutting in & out. During the fight you somehow make it to the top of the tower, at which point you are dropped off.

What's strange to me is that this contradicts my earlier theory that the woman in the photograph was Kate--her hair was curly & brown. So who the fuck are these people in the picture in Kate's house? It's especially strange because I reasoned that Kate must live with her parents, because I get the impression that she's in her 20's at the latest, & her house is really nice. So if Beth Hayes isn't her mom, then what the Hell happened to them? Maybe she just styled her hair, but that seems unnecessarily confusing.

Next we look at Charles. Well, one way the missing person poster is significant is that it open up a secret level. But it seems unlikely that's its only significance, as there's also a letter that's supposedly from him.

One irritatingly likely possibility I've considered is that they've deliberately made it ambiguous whether the proxy is Kate or Charles, to be "open ended."

Also in spoiler, but not really plot-related, is my opinion of the game. The main point is listed out of spoiler.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I've gotta be brutally honest here, it would take a LOT to get me interested in a Slendersequel. The length:difficulty ratio was extremely annoying. There's 2 levels you basically can't lose, 1 that's only moerately difficult, & 2 that are just giving you the finger. If the difficulty was a constant, moderate pace, the game would last maybe like an hour.

Coupled with that, there were some seriously bizarre gameplay choices. Why put a new monster in if it's basically the same idea as Slenderman? I was expecting 3, with at least one you could put up some level of fight against. And why put it in there if you're only going to use it for 1 level? Then, in the final level, the fact that fire would sometimes sprout out of the goddamn dirt seriously strained my suspension of disbelief, although the way Slenderman chased you through the flames with his tentacles was pretty cool. Oh, & I've already mentioned that The Eight Pages makes no narrative sense.

That's not to say that I hated it. I am mindful of the fact that I only paid $5 for it, & I did get my money's worth in some ways. It wasn't a total waste because I could use the debug to get past levels I was stuck on, so now it's possible for me to experience the whole game. This is significant because although they're not exactly talkative, I actually found myself really liking the characters, & wanting to know what happens to them.

But then I get kind of frustrated, because I'm not sure if there's enough information in here for me to actually figure that out. I'm not sure if this is a Jigsaw Puzzle Plot, or just completely incomprehensible. I still have some notes to find, so I don't know, we'll see.

But, yeah. Call this a 6 or 7 out of 10. It was fun. It was interesting. It was new. But I am just not convinced that there is enough material here for another game.

Lastly, just some random things:

>Is there any significance to the tune you can play on the piano that "sounds familiar" to Lauren?
>I wonder how many of these plot elements we can expect to be similar to Marble Hornets' ending?

I believe that tune is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the first few notes of the song that plays while you're walking to Kate's house.

Huh, you'd think I'd recognize that. That's my favorite piece of music in the game. I love the innocent-sounding little ringings.

So I just done my first playthrough and my heart is going so fast.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
All the time I was searching through the house I kept thinking lamps were heads. And then I heard that scream that made me spill my drink. And then finally I got to two pages, mistook slenderman's head as the wing mirror of the car and died.

Why does everybody think that

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
kate is the proxy ? There is her burned up body in the tower.

It makes more sense that

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the missing little boy is the proxy

Have you been reading? The body is commonly believed to be CR, & several people have laid out conflicting evidence. Myself included, in that previous post.
