At least Kate & the proxy both have long, black hair. There is literally no link between the bonus level & the proxy. It's being heralded as "irrefutable proof" based on Olympic-level leaps in logic, & it completely ignores the in-game contradictions to the theory.

I find it a bit sad that people are taking a non-canon secret level as "proof" that corpsy is CM Jr when Corpsy never appears in said level (despite it being an absolutely trival thing for the creators to do) and the proof that we hear Corpsy's breathing as meaning the messages are from him when the entire level is reusing assets from the main game.

It's an easter egg, nothing more.

Sigh I'm done arguing.

On a different though related note, I really hope you make a sequel parsec. Don't let the pewdiepukes bad reviews stop you. The game was amazing and horrifying. For something different, try some "get from point A to B". Think like the beginning of the original bioshock only with slenderman and a proxy or 2 (maybe Kate can join charles?) and of course no weapons.

The only thing is you'd have to find something to make corpsy's attacks scarier. After the first time getting grabbed he didn't scare me a single time other then the occasional jump scare of him leaping out from behind boxes. Once you get grabbed there has to be some sense of urgency to get him off of you, a button to mash or something. Alternatively give him the ability to teleport, or have him run away after you blind him with the flashlight so many times.

With 2 proxies you could make their AI similar to the pac-man ghosts. With corpsy being Blinky (always charging at you) Second proxie being Pinky (tries alternate routes to corner you) and Slendy being sort've like a clyde (random routes but still in your general direction with a tendency to wander towards your objectives.)

I dunno kinda rambling at this point I guess

You weren't really arguing, you stated something, someone pointed the leap of logic involved and then the quoted text appeared.

Not really rambling I like those ideas except the button mashing (though I can't really think of an alternative). Button mashing would turn from a sense of urgency to sheer annoyance if it happened too often.

Discover the hidden level, immediately think "hah, I wonder if they added that in there through the patching system after our repeated requests on who corpsy was or it was their from the beginning? Ah well, at least the argument will be settled on unfiction"

no. Of course not.

Eh, don't worry about it. There will be a sequel, and our assumptions will be confirmed. I'm just glad there's at least one other person who sees the secret level from the same perspective as I do.

Also, your avatar is still awesome. Smile

I highly doubt they had enough time between release and that patch to build the level (we're talking 4 days in between release and the patch). They were probably already working on it before any arguments rose up.

I just want to note that even if a sequel does prove that Charles is the proxy, that doesn't mean that this "zomg the secret level is a clue" thing is true.

I'll believe it's a clue when someone proves it's a clue.

And the thing is it's not a clue. You're not being chased by the Proxy, you're being chased by Slenderman, and when you die slenderman's face is replaced by Charles' missing poster. Considering that Slendy only shows up once in the easter egg, if it was meant to be proof that it was Charles as Corpsy then we would have seen Corpsy slowly approaching you while you're helpless.

There's also the fact that the text used to "talk" to you is the same one used by Slendy if you used a glitch in the main game.

So if it proved that Charles is anyone it would be that he's the Slender Man. Which makes no sense because then who kidnapped him to begin with?

If this was proof, then how come the only ones convinced are those who were already convinced it was CM?

YES, thank you. I posted both of those observations before, & they were pretty much ignored.

I saw those reviews. It's exactly as one person said

"The demographic for this game is fans of the Slenderman mythos. I am not a fan of it, so I did not find it fun"

If you're not a fan of the mythos then why are you buying a Slender game to begin with?

A lot of people came into the mythos via the first Slender game, which is okay, but I feel like The Arrival is more in tune with what we've come to expect from ARGs and other more indepth parts of the mythos - and that hasn't sat well with those who were used to simple 'scare-and-run' that was The Eight Pages.

I dunno. That's just my opinion.

I just wish people wouldn't slam a game simply because they don't understand it.

Well, that's not really fair. Any time someone voiced dislike of something, I could just counter with, "You clearly don't get it." I mean, if you "got it" like I did, then you'd agree with me, right?

Also, I'd think not understanding a damn thing that happened in the plot is a pretty serious flaw.

I'm not having a go at those who don't understand it - I'm just saying that slamming a game based on not understanding it yourself doesn't seem fair. I didn't understand Prometheus but I could still appreciate it was a good film.

To counter anything with "You clearly don't get it," is just one way of putting 'I am a massive tool who thinks I'm better than you' above your head, I think.

Prometheus isn't a good film. It doesn't even try to answer the question it raises at the beginning, the characters are all typical "common sense says this is going to kill me but I'm going to do it anyway" horror fodder, it implies 2 contradictory chronologies for the Xenomorphs (were they born at the end of the movie or did they exist before & that's why there are sculptures of them on the ship?), & it has a random-ass zombie for no apparent reason. Even falling outside the realm of plot, it fell into the typical "let's make nearly all of the settings brown or night blue" of cheap movie-making. Put simply, it is a bad movie with some good parts, not a good movie with a few flaws.

Anyway, okay, but I don't believe anyone said they didn't understand it.

I don't think the kind of text used is enough to clue us in, considering it's the only form of text used throughout the whole game.

It was mainly the "I'm lost. Can you find me?" message that made me believe it was CM speaking, as the level is triggered by looking at his MISSING poster. This would in turn mean that the "Don't worry, I'll find you" message is also from him.

If not this, then how do you explain the snarls heard within the house? Those clearly don't belong to Slendy and greatly resemble the Proxy's snarls. I interpreted this as meaning that CM (the proxy) is the one who FINDS you and in turn delivers you to Slendy, which would make sense, given it's CM's/the Proxy's picture that appears when you die, rather than Slendy's.

Please, let's not argue anymore as there's no point to it and it's childish. Let's have nice discussions from now on and try to see from both perspectives. You now hopefully understand mine; now, help me see from your perspective. If there's something I'm missing, let me know in the best detail that you can, please. I've provided evidence and interpretations against your "You're not being chased by the proxy; you're being chased by Slendy" claim; now please, if you're positive about your views, show me how your views are more valid than mine. I'll listen.
