I can't even figure out whom I thought it was, which I guess was a good thing--speaks to the objectivity of my arguments--but after going back 7 pages, I guess the only time I ever said "I think it's X," I said that it was Kate.

Quote:
By the way, I recall Lithp suggesting that we might have been expected to assume the glass on the outside got lost among the grass. Not possible, I say:

I said that to handwave why there was no glass down there, because...people were complaining about the broken window not adding up, right? It's been so long, I don't know.

Quote:
Also for anyone who does think Kate made it through that window, please do explain to me how she could have done so without suffering serious injury. I just don't get how she could get up a mountain after falling one floor.

...What? That's not that much of a fall.

I don't know, do I want to replay it? I mean, I only got through it originally by cheating. If they removed the tool that allows me to put in cheat codes, probably not going to bother. I'm done trying to get through the mine, especially if it was made even more difficult.

It might be fun to play through the new content with friends again. On the other hand, I'd probably have to do the tedious part of collecting the clues on my own, & that should have been resolved months ago.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Though if they're both proxies, that's kind of a nice explanation of why Slenderman would have made either of them proxies: It's just what he does. I still kind of prefer the endless loop implied by "The 8 Pages," though.

You can still cheat, don't worry. It is sadistic that they've made the mine level harder. Even knowing where all the possible generator locations are, I often lose on it because she's just become too fast. Maybe if one were to try turning off the flashlight and hiding, though I'm not sure if that's actually effective.

It's a pretty big fall, especially with the way she just recklessly threw herself out the window.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
We know now that Charlie is a separate and active entity from the chaser and that he "lives" nearby so I'm sticking to the theory that he saved her from the fall.

Also worth noting in regards to the new ending:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The legs of the person being dragged closely resemble the legs of the chaser. Seems to imply to me that Charlie prevented Kate from killing Lauren, as he had plans for her. Here are comparisons between the dragged person's legs, the chaser's legs and Lauren's legs http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/Ghizzard/slenderthearrivallegcomparisons.png~original

Really! Why make the level with the near-infinite difficulty spike even HARDER? I can see making its character more realistic, but then maybe it can't know where I am at all times?

Since I'm complaining about illogical acts of dickery, might as well point the finger at myself for cheating, then continuing to complain even though I can & will cheat past it anyway.

Well, that much is true, but I still find artistic license to be a good enough excuse. Shit, I said that a character in a horror RP took a significantly longer fall with just some scratches because she landed on a bush. Her being saved is a good idea, though it would probably play out in a ridiculous fashion, if one actually saw it.

Don't understand this, possibly because I haven't watched the ending yet. I'm waiting until I decide exactly how I want to approach this re-release.

Oh wait, I just realised they added something that would help you out - there's now an easy mode. You can get past the eight pages with only 6/8 pages and the chaser is unable to cause a game over (though slendy still will).

We are almost certainly going to try that. And still lose. Actually, under those conditions, I may be able to beat it--though the limp caused by the chaser could still wreck my shit--but probably not in one communal girly scream fueled Slenderparty.

Was it said somewhere on here that we could use access codes from the "old" version of the game to access the Steam version, or did I just hallucinate that in a fit of madness?

Yes, your old key can be used to unlock the Steam copy.

how well is the game doing

Are there any stats..how well the game has been accepted by the community.
I know that I must have been lived under the rock for the past year or so, since I just recently discovered the game and included it in my top list (place #2)

http://www.crazyscarygames.com/page/top-horror-games-of-2013/

a lot of kids visit that site, so I would be glad if I helped in increasing the interest for it.

Originally came here for sweet, sweet internet argument win points. Now I'm here it hardly seems worth it "I told you so! Those 8 pages of arguments about who the proxy was, and I was correct!" I didn't actually care enough to even look back and figure out who was arguing that it wasn't kate... I'll just assume it was someone that left the site.

So instead, I'll just let you know that the next set of bonus levels, that are being added to the xbox/ps3 versions will also be making an appearance on the PC version. The current build appears really buggy, and I suggest muting the tester and announcer, but here's the demo from e3 http://www.gamespot.com/videos/e3-2014-slender-the-arrival-stage-demo/2300-6419430/ .

I don't even remember which character I thought it was, I just remembered stating that the "secret tag level is plot significance" theory was bollocks. To me, it looks like they read all of the theories about Charles Jr. & said, "Why not? It would tighten a lot of loose ends if there was a 2nd proxy." Or maybe there was always supposed to be 2 & it was just too expensive to make a 2nd model at the time.

Either way, I ended up just going straight to YouTube to see the new stuff. If there's really a sequel in the works, I think it needs have a lot of change in order to maintain interest. Add, as Portal puts it, "A light combat mechanic." Either a way to chase off the Proxies or at least some doors to close so that you can get away from them for a minute. Or go the opposite direction & change the basic mechanic. For example, instead of being a strict Fetch Quest, make it a puzzle game. Like maybe the objective in the forest is not to find 8 pages, but to find the way out. And in the mine, instead of needing to find the generators, maybe you need to use what's around to unblock paths to the lift. Or maybe there's a system of controls that open some gates & shut others. These would also solve the Difficulty Spike & Luck Based Mission problems.

Finding out the story also seemed pretty important to people. I don't know how that would work in a sequel, though. Is Lauren going to wake up & we'll have to escape from Slenderman &/or save Kate? But don't we basically know what happened to her friends, Charles, & his son, so there's nothing to find out? So will the plot focus around trying to learn new things about Slenderman & how to stop him? And won't she be either dead or a proxy? Is that going to be part of the game? Like she starts hallucinating & losing control as time goes on? Or are we going to get a new set of characters & events, & if so, what's the connection to "The Arrival"? You could go with a prequel, make it about Charles or Charles Jr., or even expand more on CR or Kate, but again, that seems like retreading things that we mostly already know.

I'll spoiler tag it for others but from the content they showed at e3
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You will be playing as CR, and investigating the disappearance of charles.

Bigger spoilers then that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This will be done using a similar method as the Kate flashback, Lauren will be watching vhs tapes that he left behind. Which means that she survived the first game somehow.

And even larger spoilers
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
They also mentioned that this is just one level, there will be other forms of showing the story other then vhs tapes, which hints that there will be more levels that you control Lauren. I'm speculating it will involve her going to locate him after you gather the relevant info from the tapes.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
But he's dead.

I don't really know what to say to that. If all of what we know only comes from a single level, then it could go either way.

Oh, & is this the one going on consoles, or is that just another re-release of "The Arrival"?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
He's dead, which is why you play him via vhs tapes. Kinda like the part where you played Kate in the original arrival

both, those who bought it on pc get the extra content that is being added to the console version for free.

Right, right, I don't know why I didn't think to edit after I'd read that part about the tapes.

Hm. I most likely don't have a console that can play it. But maybe I will by then. Or maybe I'll still be borrowing my friend's PS3.

I assume that, by "both," you mean that the sequel & the re-release are different games, but will both be going on consoles. If this is the case, then do you have an idea of what extra content is going on the console re-release?

EDIT: Oh yeah, in case anyone was wondering, a friend of mine figured out how to get the game added to my Steam account. I don't know how he did it. He's not the same friend that I'm borrowing the PS3 from, though I'm not sure why I'm telling you that.
