Somewhat disappointed by the quality of the entry (Tim and Jay schmoozing it up was awkward and unnecessary) but well pleased with how this fits into the whole story. I wish they had skipped all the superfluous stuff and put tape content in.

This entry seems to imply that something even more sinister might be at work here than TO or Alex. As far as we know, static means something's there, but there isn't. Can TO be invisible (would explain a lot) or is there some other entity? Is Alex just using TO to protect himself? Probably not, but it would be cool.

Also, I was right, you summanabishes. Slender hole!

What if it was TTA Alex saw at the tower? Not hoody, mind you. TTA. The real TTA, the man(thing) behind the channel?

What if the operator just wanted to protect Alex from what he percieved as a threat to him, you know, like a guardian angel would? That wouldn't explain why he's malicious to the others, but it might explain why Alex was watched at birth by the operator? Sort of like a "This is my prey, back off it" or something... or a "This is my vessel, back off..."

Which would make Alex the ark (vessel, ship reference) after all, and explain why TTA wants him dead, to end the operator's reign of terror by destroying his "vessel." Well, on top of all the other atrocities he's committed. Maybe Alex was just born to be straight up evil and TTA knew that from the start (he had his birthday tape with the superimposed operator edited in after all...)

ETA: Matter of fact that would explain why TTA was watching Jay all the way back in 2006 (exit,) It would make sense that someone plotting an assassination would keep close watch and surveillance on the target's friends, coworkers, ect. Who's to say everyone else involved wasn't being watched by TTA as well? Tim was, obviously. Hoody was (hell we don't even know if Hoody is TTA himself or not yet,) you could assume Seth and/or Brian were due to TTA and Tim ending up with tapes of them, giving them to Jay (they themselves could be TTA... we don't know yet.) The only one who wasn't being watched until Jay dragged her in was Jessica.

I'm glad it wasn't just me when Jay said he saw someone. I went back and watched that part four times before continuing on. I definitely heard the distortion in the audio, which has often been used as an indicator, so I'm confident that there definitely was someone or something there. However, in the past, we -- as the viewers -- have been able to see what was there through the recordings even when they have not while filming.

Regarding "SEES ME AT THE TOWER" being the Operator or Jay, I think that could go either way. We need more information to make that call.

After rewatching the Entry, two things struck me.

First, we see them revisit locations, including the following:



Didn't we find that that had been torn down and replaced with something else? It's nice to see that that's still around.

Second, Jay's text narration during the driving sequence relays what he and Tim have been up to. Wouldn't this be broadcasting their whereabouts to Alex? Why would Jay do that?

One thing I feel the need to say: This series needs to get out of the woods.

WOODS WOODS WOODS! From the start of season 3 everything has taken place in the woods, specifically the hospital/school which was the setting for practically every entry. It makes it much less scary when these characters go looking for trouble, and even less scary since The Operator hardly even shows up anymore and when he does he is usually standing still.

One of the scariest things about him used to be that he would stalk the protagonists unprovoked and hit them where they lived, which is why #14 is IMO the scariest in the series. More Operator in the background, more operator creepily monitoring the homes of Jay and Tim, and most of all, varied settings would REALLY give the series a breath of fresh air.

Another thing, I think more distortion would benefit the series. In season 1 distortion really upped the tension but it is hardly used to it's fullest anymore.

Anyway, looking forward to what the tapes reveal AS LONG AS IT'S NOT MORE WOODS.
