I'm not sure how much I hold with the mind control theory. It seems sort of tacky. I doubt the trances last very long, or that The Operator has them do anything major in them. So what are they for? Who knows. Maybe it wants them to find something for it. Maybe it's just psychological warfare.

Actually I was thinking something more along the lines of psychological warfare. You worded it better than I could think it out. XD

That's a good question. Just what does TO want, anyways?

Also, I think that coincidences are very important in fiction. They provide the raw material for the plot to work with. Good characterization is a lot less about controlling everything from the outset, & a lot more about making due with what you've got.

I still find it a bit odd that so many roads lead to Rosswood.

Then again I also love me a good conspiracy theory. XD

I must have ear problems or something, but I can clearly hear "you want" but not "what do you want"

The sound cuts out, but I'd guess that Alex probably followed it with "this cake!?".

I think that's something we should pay attention to. There is no way that it all is a coincidence.

Just gotta say, I love this entry. Brings us back to the good ol' Season 1 days. I think this episode is the best so far this season. And it reveals some stuff. Yay!

For chronology, all I have to say is it would happen after 4 - maybe even the same night. In four, he ran from the Operator - and I mean ran. But here, he charges the Operator. He's clearly more familiar with it.

I think the theory that this is when the Operator starts following Alex back to his house is fairly sound - at first, the Operator was observing. He was watching the filming, and that was all. After a while though, he started to try and get Alex to leave, hence the "chase" in Entry 4. Alex misinterpreted the signs and thought the Operator was asking for a fight of sorts, and came back to give him his two cents, but ended up in the same position as Jay.

We have to remember we don't know EVERYTHING Jay did in the 7 months he lost. There were speculations these tapes have incriminating evidence towards Jay.

I think this Entry denotes when Alex starts filming himself - sure, Jay did it before the 7 months, near the beginning of season 1, but he learned from watching Alex. Alex probably lost a day at least from this encounter, and began filming himself to keep track of time.

The only thing I can't figure out how to fit into this theory is the Entry with Alex's birthday. How old was he? 4 or 5? I just can't find a way for that to really tie in here.

On the subject of Amy, I think this really does denote a much larger role in the story than we originally thought. It explains why Jay wasn't surprised at earlier mentions of Amy, although why he didn't try and find her like he found Tim to get leads is a mystery.

I feel like she knows he's lying about being at home. I couldn't make out the dialogue very well, but it sounded like she was accusing him of lying, and he didn't cover it up too well.

But if Amy knew what he was doing, why would she have let him continue?

This all boils down to the big question (Almost as big as the Doctor's name) - What does the Operator want? What is his connection to Rosswood? And why the hell does Tim have such magnificent sideburns?

This coming from the guy who has an entire thread devoted to jerking off to Tim.

Yeah, it's not like she was the leading lady in Alex's movie or anything.

I have a feeling that the end of Season 3 will be some tragic romance of sort...

Also, in Entry #7, Alex asks Brian not to say anything because the camera will pick it up when they were talking about "her". Maybe her is Amy after all and he still didn't want her to do anything with this.

Rosswood? I thought this was the local park (of the static gazebo and red tower fame)?

Also, I'm sleepy and may have completely misunderstood here.

I don't know what it is, but since late Season 2 I'd say (I'm not sure, I've pretty much lost all perception of time in the MH world), I've thought the Operator has looked goofy as hell. I don't know what it is. He looked great in the first season, but either they made some changes to him, or they made a new one altogether. I dunno.

I totally agree. I can't exactly put my finger on it either, but I think it's the way that his limbs curve out instead of point down from his body. He looks less like a man and more like a weird bug. He also doesn't move anymore, which makes him less scary.
I suspect that the current operator is added digitally in post, and the old one was a prop of some sort, but that's just speculation.

I think it makes more sense for him to first act aggresive, since he wouldn't understand TO capabilities yet, but after trying to ram him, he realizes he can't fight and start acting more frightened as in entry 4.

When he first sees it in entry 4 he runs after it, not away from it. He follows its path around the trashcan and loses sight of it.
