I presumed they are the tapes that were later burned and found in the hole, but the pile in the video obviously couldn't include the Entry #71 tape. The most logical assumption is that Alex later added that tape to the box, and then burned everything. But could it be possible that this is a new set of tapes altogether? Is it possible that they're still in that closet? It would seem unlikely.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
gazza, don't give Trosephim any damn ideas. We've had enough "rediscovered" tapes. Rolling Eyes

Are you kidding? Some of my favorite entries are the ones with 2006 footage.

In fact, Season 2 was mostly rediscovered footage (albeit not from 2006), and Season 2 is pretty unbeatable imo.

yeah that's one of my biggest pet peeves with posts right now. You realize found tapes is literally the point of marble hornets? They're trying to discover what happened in their past. Of course any videos in the present will involve them trying to find tapes. That's like telling glee not to have anyone sing, or CSI to not have a murder every episode.

As far as the box tapes go I'm almost certain Alex threw entry 71 into it, then went to the woods to burn them. If Jay found the entire box intact I would be incredibly surprised.

The box likely indicates that Alex wanted Jay to walk away with only the non incriminating tapes.

This is regarding to those who think Jay is having more TO episodes due to a lack of twitter feed.

If you look through the chronological order of MH, you'll notice a trend (Note: i'm ignoring dates because i'm not an expert at dates ;P ):

- Jay gets curious about TO, investigates house
- Jay returns home, films himself and shows signs of slender sickness
- Jay moves away from his apartment, stops filming, returns seemingly normal

- MH PLOT ENSUES

- Jay and Jessica move into the hotel, being chased by Alex and TO
- They are assaulted by TO, Jessica shows signs of slender sickness, Jay gets f**ked by TO
- Jay attacked by Masky, moves far and stops filming, TO effects gone (or his danger is gone)

- JAY investigates his tapes, not filming himself, staying safe

- Jay returns and meets up with Tim, investigates TO some more
- Jay has two encounters with TO
- Inside the Tunnel with TIM, however TO attacks Tim, not Jay
- Inside the tunnel UNDER the building
- Jay escapes that tunnel, spared by TO <------------------THIS

We know TO is powerful, so why was Jay spared? I'm assuming that TO was happy that he found Jay, since Jay began filming again, he probably wants to toy with the lad first. So i'm assuming the lack of twittering is from once again, slender effects.

- You may now ignore my post like you always do...

Pretty much this. Alex expected Jay to just get creeped out and eventually forget about it. But thanks to TTA, he ended up seeing more than Alex bargained for.

I get that it's a mystery based in 2006, okay, but some of my favorites involve action in the present. People's tastes differ.

MH is more of a "finding out what happened in the past so we can deal with the present" sort of thing

If you ask me, the claim that "found tapes is the point of Marble Hornets" is a massive fallacy. Who the Hell ever said that? Marble Hornets can certainly work very well without finding tapes all of the time. We do, in fact, have long stretches of present day footage, so it's obviously not that essential. When they have to delve back into the past, there are other venues--ToTheArk, documents like those medical records could have actual information on them, Tim's & Jay's episodes of amateur forensics, & potentially characters letting information slip.

Like many other rebuttals, this is a false dichotomy that has been imposed on the series. Again, I am cool with the found tapes when they actually have something noteworthy on them, like the first few Alex attacks, which came as a big surprise.

But I'm also getting sick of the Found Documents Trope in general. I've seen it now in Dissidia Final Fantasy, Bioshock, Marble Hornets, EverymanHYBRID, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XII, & probably some other things that I'm forgetting due to general grogginess.

Shit is starting to get cliche. What happened to the days when writers figured out ways to tell their plots without having background details literally lying around for no discernible reason but to be shown to you in a prepackaged form?

In terms of content, it was "aight." What I means by this is the only thing confirmed is that Alex is a HUGE fucking douchebag. Also that their memories get messed with. But that doesn't do much for me because I already knew Alex was an asshole (see gazebo scene), and we already knew that their memories are messed with.

In another sense, I was also dissatisfied. For instance, Alex's character was poorly done. If this was supposed to happen before entry 22, why in gods name does Alex look exactly the same is he did when he got his shit wrecked by tim 7 years later? No glasses and short hair. Very sloppy.

Where the hell is slendo? Isn't that what this whole thing is about?

Holy shit, Oransel, I was thinking the same thing: Maybe it's not that The Operator modifies memories, but that it alters time, & the memory discrepency is a side-effect of that.

Such as Jay doesn't remember being attacked because THAT Jay never WAS attacked.

Lol this is isn't primer.

I went like this:

(Entry #30)
Jay: What about you? You've been here a while.
Jessica: I got kicked out.
Jay: Got kicked out?
Jessica: Mhmm. So I'm just, like, here until I find a new place.
Jay: Um, why'd you get kicked out?
Jessica: I don't wanna talk about it.

(Entry #32)
Jessica: I know something's going on.
Jay: Like what?
Jessica: I don't know how I got here!...(blah blah blah) Have you had any kind of memory loss at all?

So in one entry she knows she got kicked out, and in another entry she has no clue what happened and admits to losing her memory. She can't keep her story straight, but it happens over the course of three entries and she doesn't get called on it by Jay.

You leave Jessica alone. Bully. She was obv. Self conscious about not knowing how she got there..

I watched the burned tapes discovery entry again and I saw that there is another tape that could play. It's case is molded to the tape from being burned though. Realisticly speaking You could salvage the tape from burned tapes if you take them apart and replace the case and some of the tape that is melted. I still think there will be a tape that contains Entry #56 from Alex's POV I liked this entry also. I can smell a lets visit alex's old house entry and it leads to...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
JAY AND TIM FINDING MOAR AND MORE TAPES!

I think the Found Documents Trope is sort of a necessary evil. Honestly, that's pretty much the only way you could find secret/guarded information in real life. I mean, in real life if you wanted to find out something that happened in the past you'd probably end up at the library going through old records and newspaper articles and diaries and journals. The only other way you could find out is if you got a first hand account from someone who was actually there.

I don't see why Jessica being kicked out of her house and Jessica not being able to remember how she got to the hotel are mutually exclusive. Let's say Jessica was telling the truth about being kicked out. She could've gotten kicked out before the events of entry 52 even happened. She could've been living in her car like Jay for weeks or even months before she ended up at the hotel. From what I can see we have no conclusive evidence suggesting she was lying about being kicked out, people just assume she was lying because Jay lied about why he was staying there, and therefore Jessica must have been lying too.
