Impressing job, Arenhart.

BTW. Somehow scarry how the theme of this ARG fits so well to actual discussions. It seems like Toilworn Diamond is just another name for project PRISM.

edit: Do not know if this had been already mentioned: Toilworn Diamond anagrams to WORLD DOMINATION.

Man, you're busy for a weekend and everything gets solved Laughing Well done folks! Amazing work all around.

We did mention it earlier in the thread but always worth remembering! Totally agree about the PRISM analogy, it's very apt, even though our game is a bit more light hearted in tone it does have something behind it.

Anyway, the point of my post - Hubert emailed me some code to use in the face modelling challenge, saying the following:

Quote:

I think it is admirable what you are doing and I'm happy to help you if I just can. That challenge looks like an attempt to recruit people to work for the project Toilworn Diamond for free. I'm also guessing that Richard has no idea how to implement that face thing himself, so basically he is just trying to get other people to do the work for him. However, it might be a good idea to take part in the challenge as long as you don't give him the source code. That way you can make him believe you are committed to his ideas and maybe get him to trust you more…?

I searched a bit from my computer and found some code related to the face modeling. I guess it was a good thing after all that I was forced to bring work assignments home and code at the evenings also, so there was this backup file left on my home computer.

Facemodeling.java is everything I have left and I attach it here. Based on the Avecira policy, our department was divided into groups A, B and C. The idea was that the assignments were divided between groups A and B, and the group C would integrate the work. Therefore the code that was implemented by group B is missing in the file, but hopefully it's useful for you anyway!

I've attached the .java file but as a .txt cos otherwise the forum wouldn't take it. Any better coders than me out there want to try reproducing group B's work? There are comments in the code which show the missing parts that need to be implemented.

It looks good, but this algorithm seems very unlikelly to solve this Zalgo effect on the image... There must be an improvement on the inital positioning of the elipses before the uphill algorithm kicks in...

I change position, size and coloring of the ellipses. Starting from bigger movements to smaller ones to overcome some of the local optimas. Parameters definitely not perfect. So result somehow depends on a good initial setting.

edit: inital settings should be not that important, I think, since hill climbing works very well for that problem. (Without my glasses the image looks almost like the original Surprised )

Well, good job AUZ, you're up on Avecira's challenge page! (http://www.avecirasolutions.com/facemodeling.html) Did you get anything in return from them?

Got this reply.

Thank you for your submission to the face modeling challenge! Very well done! It looks almost just as handsome as the original image. I published on the challenge page already.

I'm just eager to learn from a great programmer like yourself, so could you send me the source code? Thanks!

Since Beth told us to not send them any source code, I will now work on some answer.

Hi! The aragman.png (=anagram) has a hidden url prompt: http://stoptoilworndiamond.co.nf/w???w????.html (Maybe another anagram or the the 2nd part is water?)

I assume that we have to find something that describes this equation and than make an anagram out of it.
"dew drops equals benches" for example. Unfortunately there are no two "w"'s in this sentence.

EDIT: Found a site (don't know exactly why this might be the correct solution. Amandel's idea and looking for matching works in wikipedia's dew article led to it)

EDIT2: Sorry. Wrong alert. This was just some strange behavour of my old IE explorer. Firefox just has a "blog not found" message.

I'm guessing the left one is dew, but the right one? Perhaps wrought iron? No, a letter too long..

EDIT: Anyway, what is a six-letter word with a w that is somehow related to benches, series or uniformity? Perhaps its the style of the bench?

Got it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

"dew is rows" which anagrams to "wise words". None of my anagram solver found it, so I was stumpled a little bit.

A lot of quatations. Gentlemen, please start your (search) engines. Smile [/spoiler]

The quotes all have the word 'style' in them.

And if you look at the source of the page, it looks really odd - each individual letter is in a span tag, and there are three ids listed (par1, par2, par3).. not sure exactly what to do with it but it must be like that on purpose! Perhaps we need to stick the letters together for each 'par' id?

I've been lurking for about a week now trying to get back into the game after a little hiatus. I am still working on the new page, but I wanted to post what I've found in case someone can do the work a little faster than I can.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Looking in the source code, each individual character on the page is given the id of "wisewords". Then you have a bunch of extra characters split into "par1", "par2", and "par3". I've parsed through the "par1" characters and ended up with the following:

In the beginning of 2014, Avercira was able to make a contract with all major processor manufacturers and finally Richard's and Buck's dream started to become true. Thanks to the contracts they managed to negotiate, TDChip would be included in every CPU around the world. In few years, basically every computer, phone, tablet, phablet, and phaptop would communicate with the Toilworn Diamond servers. That was a major breakthrough for the success of the whole project...

I will continue to work on the others and edit this post when necessary unless someone beats me to it (please beat me to it...it hurts my eyes.)

I noticed the spans as well.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

In the beginning of 2014, Avecira was able to make a contract with all major processor manufacturers and finally Richard's and Buck's dream started to become true. Thanks to the contracts they managed to negotiate, TDChip would be included in every CPU around the world. In few years, basically every computer, phone, tablet, phablet and phaptop would communicate with the Toilworn Diamond servers. That was a major breakthrough for the success of the whole project...

par2
...By the end of 2016, all kind of portable and unportable devices were so popular that almost all communication between people were handled though some kind of device. People were happily posting photos of their lunches, reporting their daily chores and enlightening their friends' days with funny animal pictures. The need to talk to other people face-to-face started to dimish. You could find all the relevant information about other people by reading their updates, and you could even track their movements by following where they check in using the successful 'stalk-a-friend' application...

par3
...The starting shot to the LOLCat Apocalypse can be tracked to the beginning of 2017. Someone came up with a LOLCat so funny that it spread through internet at a speed that was never seen before! People who wouldn't normally care about LOLCats were now rolling on the floor laughing and sharing the picture to their friends and colleagues. Unfortunately Avecira hadn't prepared to an event this powerful. The algorithms behind Toilworn Diamond learned that people like seeing funny cat pictures and started to censor other content. Because of that, the amount of non-cat content on the internet started to diminish rapidly creating a vicious circle. Toilworn Diamond algorithms thought that people prefer funny cat pictures, because that is all they were allowed to see. Eventually, 99,97% of all content that people were able to see on their devices were LOLCats.
