Anyway, key 25 activated! I'm going use my other emails, too.

Hi all. #29 (ROT) & #32 (vowel counting) activated. While Richard is wicked our PM is wicked-funny as evidenced in Richard's must-read travel tweets.

About Richard's Excellent Adventure he wrote:
...I'm sure all my followers are excited to see all the thrilling and adventurous things I encounter during my trip.

Code:
5-10-24-4-24-3-16-10-11-22

Above is #73, it's activated and it's just a nice number to letter substitution. Important: It was ALL capitol letters.

Spoke to Beth this morning on Twitter DM, asked her when Richard/Buck would be back and whether there was any danger of them switching off the self destruct remotely:

Quote:

Don't know when they'll be back, they don't really share that kind of info with me (or anyone else). They just come and go as they wish. I don't think they can stop it remotely. I remember seeing a red ON/OFF switch labeled TDESDS when I was dusting R's office about a year ago. Didn't pay much attention to it at the time but, now to think of it, it must be the switch to cancel the self destruct process.

(Is our whistleblower the office cleaner? That would be pretty awesome Laughing)

I'm still ploughing through with the keys as well, looks like we're nearly a third through.. those 60-69 ones, I still have no idea though :S

Got the method for the "60s" puzzles. If you treat it like a 10x10 grid and go down the diagonal, i.e. 1st char of top row, 2nd char of 2nd row, etc.. I've activated 62 but I don't have much time to do the rest right now so if anyone else wants to do the other 60s please do Smile

For example, 62:

Added them to the spreadsheet for you and activated 68.

:EDIT: Does anybody have an idea about 50 - 59? I have noticed all that have been gathered so far have a set of double letters in them. For example: bmmdoxlbjs, tccndbjiam and ffqguoyfqr. It can't just be a coincidence.

#96 was on the spreadsheet as unsolved so I went ahead and activated it. I hope I wasn't to eager, sorry if someone was trying to solve it Embarassed
Also, I was wondering if there were some puzzles you guys have solved earlier, but the answers haven't been used anywhere yet? If there was something we should use as a key to uncipher the 50's..

I am Confused

That's exactly what I tried yesterday. And my key has been rejected as incorrect!!!

For #64 I sent "81gUNY0SLc". What is wrong?

EDIT: I am so STUPID... I have sent "81gUNY0SLc" instead of "64 81gUNY0SLc" Bang Head

I just got a new key from the 50's:

key 54:

zvzvucuqtd

So, I guess the double letters were a coincidence...

Oh. Sad I was sure there had to be something when we had 3 codes which all had double letters in. Welp, I still have no idea how to do these. I've seen on the spreadsheet, people (I don't know who) have been doing all manners of things to try and decode them. :L

Though three occurences is above the most likelly value expected for double letters, it's not higher by much...

Well, one of this persons is me, including the rather stupid "cccccccccc", but I thought about puting it there so no one else would be tempted.

I'm currently thinking each letter is somehow related to the former or last one... I tryed to count how many letters between each pair of characters in the string, but this results in more than 10 characters...

EDIT: off topic: anyone else feels like the google spreadsheet is a multiplayer excel?

EDIT2: I just cannot shake the feeling that the actual string is a string of number, and its the numeric value of the letters that really matter, why else there would be no capitalization? Also, that would explain the high incidence of double letters if the numbers are actually taken as relative to the value of the previous/next character, this way a double letter would have a 10% chance of occuring, closer to the one found (8,3%), while the chance of a double letter in a random string is 3,8%

EDIT3: according to binomial distribution, there is a 15% chance of those 3 double letter pairs appearing if the letters were trully random... Low, but not overly so, perhaps when we get more keys we can draw some better conclusions. (As a reference, the chance of having exactly one double letter, the MLV, was 35%, so 15% is not that low, relativelly)

Yeah, well pursuing all avenues is a good idea. I personally tried that and just reversing it but I didn't put that on the spreadsheet.

Also, excel is a spreadsheet program so any spreadsheet program can be compared to excel but personally I feel the "multiplayer" aspect is what is the main appeal to using google spreadsheet.
