Ticktacs.....
if you carry the two, then you have 2...

Well here is SOME of the problem I see so far.

1) Typos in the original message, if they have meaning that is relevant to the challenge/response.

2) We have no main contact other than the guys were trying to hack, for these stalls. Because "they have gotten to him"?

Sundial
if it is the clue, which would make the most sense, device that tells the time of day by the position of the Sun.

We have a shadow from the garbage but time? So..blue, trash, etc.. in numbers? Attempting to determine time by shadowcast AKA estimating the time from the length of one's shadow in feet from the can?

Again we have to respond in crypto? Or a straight determination of time?

The film Type
Knowing we can see that this is a altered image in a common photo program from a cell phone, I think we have to just view it as a old analog film and ignore the tech.

So we have a sequence of numbers on the image, 47 125 48 6. But we are assuming it is a old 126, film. Then we have 47, 48 and 6. So is it showing this is a clip of film from 47 to 48? What is the significance of the arrow on the 6?

If using sundial and thinking on old film does the combination of these numbers have any significance? Or plainly cue a sequence of 4 numbers?

I personally have thought on several 4 sequence numbers and also utilizing names/dates/times/luminescence in crypto.Without a more defined direction we have a multitude of number sequences, and maybe as petunia said will hit the limit and become a threat?

I eagerly await a psychic response! Wink

And herein lies the problem with aiming a game at a single person. You just don't get the amount of participants necessary to crowd-source an answer. Which is alright, if the PM lowers the difficulty of puzzles to make up for the difference. Without further input, I don't know that we're necessarily going to reason out the proper solution before the "limit of tries" is reached. So at this point, maybe you should just try some of the more logical answers and if we "fail" at least the game might continue forward?

I sent in the 'Blue' answer, we shall see what happens.

On a related note, I received another clue.

I got a letter from a 'Bradley and Sons, Solicitors and Barristers' (Lawyer) in Canada stating that:

Following the final wishes of our client, as set out and notarized in his final will and testament, we are sending this newspaper clipping to you. The enclosed document is the full extent of our client's bequeathment to you, and you have no further legal claim to any portion of our client's estate.

I am attaching a pdf of the clipping. I'm guessing that the person who has been sending me the journals is now dead, under mysterious circumstances.

After reading the obituary, I've come to the conclusion that the password is in fact blue. I arrived at this conclusion after noticing the odd capitalization of the word, blue, in the newspaper clipping.

Several words capitalized that shouldn't be in that clipping.
Unusual, Benchmark, Cracks, Blue
eta - Cup I suppose too.

Yeah, I drew the same conclusion. UBCB are four letters...which could be translated into numbers for the email (but bear no relation to the picture).

On second thought

Unusual Bench mark Crack Blue

Could that refer to the benches in the picture - are there markings on them? I can't tell.

But the words all seem to relate to the pic...

Still makes me wonder if this is a physical location to scout.

Okay, he's definitely trying to give us a hint here. "Capital idea!" Heh.

So yeah, the words Unusual, Benchmark, Cracks, Blue, and Cup (heck, maybe even Babylonian too - notice how "middle east" is not capitalized, or any other words other than his name and words that begin sentences).

I gotta ask, DrT - I don't suppose your dear departed friend looks at all familiar to you?

Anyway, what I find most interesting here is the next-to-last paragraph. Seems to be pointing us to an aqueduct (at sunrise?). Could there be a park near an aqueduct, maybe with "sun" in the name or something? That whole paragraph just seems out of place otherwise.

And while I'm at it, how about a museum with a free-admission night? Are there any places in your area that could fit here, DrT??

ETA: The pic does contain a bench, cracks (in the sidewalk), blue (trash can), and what looks like a cup on the ground. The only thing missing, ironically, is anything Unusual... well, that grayish tree on the left looks a little odd, and so does the vertical stick next to it, but not in an OMGWHATISTHAT kinda way. Dunno

ETA II: The word "quirks" appears in the obit, like, 3 times. No idea what's up with that.

The deceased's pic is completely unfamiliar to me, alas.

As far as a real physical location goes, I'm here near Washington DC so there are a bazillion parks ( and all the free Smithsonian museums) around. If its a real physical location it's certainly not a very distinctive one.

Remember, we're looking for four numbers. I think the answer is somewhere in the photo, but I have no idea where.

Even if this had to do with a real location, which I'm not sure it does, it wouldn't be anything close to DrT. That blue garbage can has a City of Toronto logo on the side of it. (I'm only about 45 mins from Toronto and have family that lives in the city.) Also there is nothing distinctive about the picture to pinpoint one of the hundreds of parks in the city.

Yeah, that's the rub. I had thought that maybe it was near the origin of the letters and not DrT. I'd even started to look for parks on Google Maps in that area but quickly decided that was a fool's errand. Plus, having targeted this squarely at one person in States thus far doesn't lend itself well to having someone scout a park in Canada. Ugh, at this point I have no idea what the proper solution is.

All capital words from the article:
Quote:
What He He Unusual Capital He His His Benchmark We He Greg He Cracks Not Greg It Greg After Greg As It Greg He Babylonian Cup We Blue He I I For I He I But I

Bolded are words that aren't the start of a sentence, or "Greg".
Capital may or may not be relevant, as with Babylonian Cup. But then, maybe all of this isn't relevant. Razz

interesting though that it's all C's and B's that stand out capitalized, other than 'Unusual'.
UCBCBCB

Could the location of capitals be some form of indicator?

Do you mean the layout of the caps as they appear in the clipping?

#cbcbcb is a hex color, a light gray... for whatever that's worth.

Flummoxed and flailing here...
