 		What if Noah's not supposed to open the journal but actually ask it questions? If the journal can talk and if it can read Noah's mind or emotions, then it IS possible to at least communicate with it.

I got the idea from the token letter, the broken key was supposed to symbolize something, and seeing how it is alike to the journal's key most likely means that the 2 are related in some form. Maybe the broken key was supposed to send Noah an early message that the journal key wouldn't work and that it's not supposed to work, because the journal's key has been 'broken' by the severance symbol.

I also got the idea from a few of the times that the observer took over Noah's formspring and twitter. He said that the questions were more important than the answers, and someone figured out meaning behind that by saying that while the answers are finite, the questions can be anything, the questions are everything. And if you think about it, the lock could be an example of a question and a key can be an example of an answer. The lock needs the right key to unlock, just like how the question needs the right answer to be considered solved.

Maybe the way to get information out of the journal is to ask it the 'right' questions, the right questions being the ones with whatever's written inside the journal as the answer. It sure does seem like a better challenge than just wiping the symbols off or cutting the binding. Because the lesson isn't supposed to be easy, it's supposed to help Noah learn what he needs to learn.

Asking a demonically possessed journal questions may seem a bit crazy and downright stupid, but it's no-doubt something most people wouldn't think to do, plus we already did ask a demonic time-lord before about Noah and what the collective is, so asking a demonically possessed journal shouldn't be very different. We might get some answers. We might not get them. We won't know unless Noah tries and that solely depends on Noah's willingness to find out the truth and face it.

 		I believe that the best way to proceed is to draw the severence symbol on the key and then shove it into the lock on the book. It would at least shut it up if not unlock it.

 		I haven't watched any of the livestreams, but something I noticed: Go to the TT youtube page. Look at Noah in the thumbnail for that livestream, and then compare it to Noah's face in the thumbnail for Fortunes. Wow.

Probably. I'm thinking he might go to the Boardwalk first, though.

Honestly, what I don't understand is why Noah doesn't just try to force open Milo's journal? Think about it:
1) He hasn't been able to sleep properly since God-knows-when, he's a drunken mess, and now he's losing his mind (if it's not entirely gone already).
2) The Collective will need him "alive" to deliver his grandfather's journal.
3) The riddle "Find the key, learn the lesson" is from an individual in a group of people that are

What's the worst that could happen if he forces open the journal? Will Noah inadvertently open up some vortex to some otherworldly nightmare realm? He's already disappeared for a week at a time and he was trapped in HABIT's realm a while back. He's in a living hell right now - if he gets what he needs from Milo's journal, he can try destroying or getting rid of it, so it won't be feeding him self-doubt.

This is from the transcript of 'Case Findings': "I know I was supposed to find this key. It has to be for this lock. It is the same size, and... and the fucking strap that it's on is the same material that the book is made out of. Because it doesn't work, I get this... this uneasy feeling in my gut. Like, maybe I shouldn't cut this open. Like maybe I'm hesitant to break this lock. I just get really bad vibes from these supernatural people, and like, the hints to make me look in the soles... find the key, learn the lesson... I found this on purpose. But why doesn't it work? I'm missing something, I know it. Been trying to figure it out for weeks now. I'll get it, I'll figure it out."

It seems like he's found THE key, but it doesn't fit the lock. Maybe the lesson is something more metaphorical, like "Things aren't always as they seem," or "In order to progress, you have to break the rules". If he does happen to cut the strap of the journal to open it, and something goes wrong, there might be a lesson in that, instead.


Another interesting implication is how this ties into DarkHarvest. In the last video, Noah mentioned that he's run out of money from the briefcase, being unable to hold down a job. If he's been using that money to buy alcohol, and pay for living expenses during this time, he probably hasn't been able to give much additional financial support to the DH crew aside from the 2G from a while back. Since they both seem to progress linearly in real time, what have the DH guys been doing to stay afloat all this time?
