To be honest if I was Tim I'd have the Mask too.

I mean, if I had someone to depend on like Jay and I knew my other personality might attack him I would want my friend to have a warning when I'm not myself.

And since I know my alter-ego likes to wear a mask more often than not it would provide a pretty good visual clue that something is wrong.

I wonder what Jay's masky will be...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
He will be called sweaty, because he'll wear a sweatshirt an a pair of sweatpants. He will also were a sock over his head...

Oh wait...

Well, we can clearly see Jay and Tim's name among those crossed off, and they certainly survived Alex's attempts, so yeah, it's already odd in that regard.

(Added emphasis in my quoted post.)

That's kind of the angle I'm working from, in that the crossed off name likely means that he "gave" them to the Operator, rather than attempting to kill them as the post I was responding to implied.

Regarding Tim having his "Masky" jacket and potentially his mask: It's plausible that he does have the mask with him. If so, that may be a reason he didn't want Jay to open his bag. Not that he's trying to keep it a secret (because Jay already knows), but that it's something he doesn't really want to deal with explaining, since Jay would probably make a big deal about it.

(Note to self: I really need to remember to use the present tense when talking about these videos.)

@ Zarggg -- tenses are a bear. I mix mine all the time in writing, and hate having to bring them all in line when I re-read. It's that sneaky subjunctive wanting to assert itself amongst all the speculation. (That, and writing like I'd speak. Rolling Eyes )

If Jay's going to mask-out, it will probably surface soon. I'm curious how he'll behave.

I figured the "Masky" jacket was Tim's only jacket, and he just happened to put it on when he masked out. (Strange alternate personalities need to keep warm too, you know.)

Don't forget, he's had that jacket since the filming began, and only recently found out about his other persona. It's probably his favorite jacket, and I doubt he's gonna just throw it out. Especially if it's his only one.

Me too. We've seen Tim wearing that jacket without being in Masky mode and he has been in Masky state neither wearing it, nor the mask (entry #67). Well, the mask appears next to him when he wakes up, but, whatever.

I am speculating here but maybe Masky tends to wear the jacket because something related with when Tim was in Brian's house (Entry #20). He was very affected in this Entry because of the slendersicknes and he was wearing a jacket, while the others were just fine. Moreover he said "Why is so cold in June?". Hoody is always wearing a hood and gloves, even if it is summer. Maybe the slendersickness also lowers their bodies temperature/causes fever?

Yeah, it appears Slendy causes some kind of ghostly chill. In Entry 17 Jay is also wearing a hoody when they're filming and complains that the air conditioner is up too high, or something like that.

Moral of the story: if you're being stalked by an eldritch horror, keep a jacket on hand just in case. (If it's good enough for Tim, it's good enough for us.)Razz

I think I know what Tim had to say to TO.

Remember that this is Tim's first encounter with TO since realizing that his childhood hallucinations may not have BEEN hallucinations but in fact may have been The Operator tormenting him from a young age.

Confronted with this creature which Tim now believes to be responsible for ruining his entire life, I believe that Tim's rage overcame his fear and enabled him to resist the "Slender Effect" long enough to give TO a piece of his mind.

Having a human stand up to him for so long could very well have confused TO and caused him to leave before accomplishing what he'd come for, which I assume was another attempt at mindwiping/corrupting Jay.

Regarding Tim's bag and his insistence on putting the papers in the top pocket, to me it sure seems like he's hiding something. He goes out of his way to say "No, top pocket, top pocket" in a pretty insistent manner, then when Jay pans up Tim shoot him a bit of a guilty or nervous look (of course that could be attributed to their over all nervousness). Now I was among those who thought that Tim might have been holding Alex's gun at the end of Entry#67, and I'm surprised that no one has suggested this considering there were others who thought that too, but I had been kind of assuming that Tim has been walking around with the gun stashed away somewhere, so of course that's the first thing I thought when he said "top pocket". Just putting that out there since no one else has.

(Sorry wasn't here...) Are you talking about at 6:40? In the woods at night?
Since when does Masky wear black gloves?

I'm talking about the end of #67 when Tim wakes up in the field, he pulls "something" from his pocket and looks at it with what appears to be alarm. The other explanation is that it is simply his phone and he's reacting to the date, but I like to think that Masky put the gun in his pocket when he left him there.

I thought so too at first but by this point, I think Tim would have told Jay. Unless Jay already knows and the gun is being kept secret so they can surprise Alex if he attacks.

As much as I love Tim, I think he is still keeping secrets. TTA insists that he is a liar, and the bone that he threw Jay to explain this, which was his being a patient at the hospital, was something he pretty much already knew. I'm not convinced that all of those mentions of lies and liars has been resolved by such an insignificant revelation. I'm not exactly thinking he plans on pulling it on Jay at some point, but if he does have a gun, he's trying to keep it to himself. People who lie are typically distrustful of others. I'm not trying to force my fringe speculation, but I for one won't be shocked if the gun pops back up and it turns out that it was Tim who has had been stashing it.

I think they will go back to the house. They went down into the basement, but only had enough time to flash the light about and realize that it was dark outside before TO appeared. No search was made. Also, they pointed out the attic, which hasn't been searched yet, either.

Tim and Joseph mention in this podcast that Troy was going to drop the whole TTA thing, but because of an outcry from fans, he kept it going. It doesn't sound like TTA was ever really a huge part of Marble Hornets and it might just be Trosephim taking time to make sure that the TTA videos don't hurt or ruin the main storyline, but only serve to enhance it.

I am just saying if there is a new TTA it would most likely come out around the time Jay uploaded the first video.

Someone (Kraehot?) asked many pages ago how worldly medicines could have an effect against an eldritch abomination like The Operator. Others (Lithp?) thought it might be possible.

I work in healthcare, and I find it wholly believable; our entire experience of reality depends on millions of tiny electrical impulses (action potentials) happening in our brains at any given time. Both psychiatric and anti-epileptic medicines work by affecting these impulses.

We already know TO affects electrical equipment as well as people's brains, so it doesn't seem a stretch that medicines which "settle" the flurry of electrical activity (which is a pretty good way to simplify what happens in a seizure and, in a less acute and overtly dramatic way, in mental illness) will also work against TO to an extent.

Interestingly, some epilepsy drugs are used by psychiatrists to help "stabilise" moods, for example Valproate and Carbamazepine are effective seizure treatments which are sometimes prescribed for people who have severe bipolar or depressive disorder, or even in an attempt to limit distressing psychotic symptoms.

It would be entirely consistent for Tim to be on such a treatment, given how his Operator-induced symptoms would appear to outsiders; any anti-Operator properties are therefore a happy accident.

That's actually true of all medicine. All medicine has the placebo effect in addition to its own effects.

Chiming in to support this. In the case of certain psychiatric medications, actually, the statistical difference between the effectiveness of FDA-approved medications and placebos is often negligible.

Just to chime in with this- it is indeed true all medicines have a placebo effect and, although trials tend to study a drug against placebo, there's probably an extra placebo effect in those taking active medicines (as they get side effects from the active therapy the inert placebo doesn't give).

Weirdly, the placebo effect isn't just psychological, either- about a third of people taking placebo in one double-blind study showed improved activity in some of the same areas of the brain as those who were successfully treated when PET scanned. This effect might explain why Tim appeared to get a boost so quickly from the meds in this entry...

[/end wall of text] Sorry, I'm afraid my explanation got boring really quickly!

They've gone on record to say the TTA / twitter accounts are not necessary for all the pieces of the puzzle, and that someone could skip all of them and still get the whole story.

This is why tta hacks jay's account to post the important entries, and why they're not just on the tta acct.
