Well, I told Goomba about this and he facepalmed. I really can't say much about this series.

I feel like the slenderverse is getting old. It's hard to find orginality anymore. These are the following cliches that I've noted in slender series:

1. Child Neglect. This is when a kid tries to start a slender series, and he keeps on getting nearly killed and starts going insane and all and his parents don't even care.

2. Annoying Distortion. Distortion is OK, but this is when it's just plain loud, unrealistic, and annoying. You have to turn down your speakers so you don't blast them, but later you have to turn them up to hear what the characters are saying.

3. Gamejacking. 'nuff said.

4. Hidden messages. This can be OK if executed properly, but who wants to rack their brain on a code that says something like "WATCHINGYOU" or "THETALLONE"

5. SlEnDy'S kEyBoArD iS bRoKeN.

6. Everyone dies/goes insane. Slendy is impossible to defeat. Everyone will die. The end.

7. Taking forever for another video. Like, waiting three months for an episode of EMH...five months for TT...seven months for MH...why must it take so long?!?! If you want to do it for the plot, fine, but don't make your fans forget about the series!

8. Coming up with your own stupid name for Slenderman. Names like the "Operator" and the "Administrator" are really cool, but when it comes down to "the tall one" or "der ritter" I wonder why they just can't call him by his actual name.

9. Comments disabled. I could understand when MH did this, but otherwise it's like "Oh shut up, fans."

10. Shaky camera. This cliche is found in almost all found footage films--like I said before, it can be done well but sometimes it's just plain distracting to the viewer.

I could come up with more, but this post is already enough OT. Anyway, I feel sorry that I thought it was a girl...you realize how embarrassing it is to be mistaken for a girl on the internet? I actually feel a little bad for him...

Oh, look, opinion vomiting. My turn? My turn!

1. This is why I've long been of the opinion that children shouldn't start series. You can't have realism and suspension of disbelief when you're goddamn fifteen and your parents don't "notice" your madness.

2. I mostly agree with this one, actually. That'll be...one of ten?

3. Gamejacking is a problem, but considering that most Slenderverse series aren't actually ARGs (and as such their presence here is tenuous at best), they're not really "gamejacking" so much as writing unauthorized fan fiction. Ruminate on that a bit.

4. You're...new around here, aren't you? Puzzles are the entire point of ARGs and everything Unfiction is about. Yeah, sure, poor-quality puzzles are a hallmark of poor-quality series, but then, there are so many hallmarks of those that by the time you've gotten to the shitty puzzle, you should already have noticed the shit quality of the series.

5. This one toes the line between hidden puzzles and people being "random" (without knowing what randomness actually means, and aiming for some pseudo-stochastic thought process anyway) at the expense of the ability to be taken seriously.

6. Again, that's kind of the point of the Mythos? We have created the canon, and that's just one of those things. The few blogs that have tried to defeat the Slender Man have done so poorly and made themselves look goddamn foolish in the process. I would like to see someone do it right, but I've been around here long enough to have concluded that that's just not possible.

7. Okay, this one's simple. The creators of the series are in no way beholden to keep to a schedule that you like. They'll release videos when they're damn good and ready for it. By and large, this is not a paying job for any of them; this is a hobby, and they have lives, family, and work outside this little enclave of "humanity". I'm just not going to accept people talking shit about release schedule unless they know what it's like to balance real responsibilities and internet ones. (And even if they do, if they talk shit about people then they're being superious* fucks who aren't worth my time or anyone else's anyway.)

8. Because not every story is meant to be the "Slender Man". Perhaps the entity is similar, but he doesn't have an actual name. It. Whatever. Basically, this assumes that your private version of fanon is the same as everyone else's, and if it isn't, well, they're wrong! (What I am saying here is that you are incorrect and should know that.)

9. Comments being disabled can be a form of silencing criticism, yes. It can also be a way to hide spoilers and heighten tension, because if you can't see comments, you may not know what's going on in the video until you watch it (shock and awe). Nobody's telling their fans to shut up, because if they were, we wouldn't have had such a problem with people posting in their own damn threads. A vast majority of the people creating these series want feedback.

10. You hold a camera steady while sprinting through the woods, and get back to me.

*I know what I meant, and so do you.

Talked to Goomba about this? All of these stupid vlogs are started by him under an alias!

Well, it's not like I had any other Slendy creators to talk too. He thought this series was pretty bad and there was nothing he could do about it...and now I await hate comments for befriending Caleb... Confused

Enough.

Does anyone have anything to say about this series? If so, you've got...until 8 pm CDT tonight. (That's just under six hours.) The series is over, it's been said earlier, and there is no discussion about Goomba's "replacement". I'm locking the thread then, a bit gleefully.

Alright, I'll post now while the thread's still going.

Is there any way that we can implement higher standards in what series get posted? This does have the appeal of "so bad it's good", but since good Slenderman series are possibly getting rarer (or maybe bad stuff like this is just getting more common), it's annoying to have the forum clogged up with stuff like this. I'm really hoping that stuff like this only dissuades more people from using these clichés.

I doubt he had any involvement in this one. We know the creator is a girl because she introduced herself in the first video of the deleted series.

What we can do as mods is close down threads that violate the TOS. Otherwise, there's not much we can do but encourage people to ignore series that are not good, so that they'll gravitate towards the rear pages (because as I've proven recently, people apparently don't even read the entire first page).

He admitted that he started this on another forum.

Really sad to see this one go, but I see your point. Hopefully we will get another series so bad, that it is good.

Okay, I'm a bit late on it, but thread locked as stated.
