Updates to Amboy Monthly, Ideltech on March 1, 2004

This was posted on the news page of the Amboy Monthly website on March 1, 2004, but was listed as being posted on the 2nd.

Militia Organization In Amboy

by Melody Heller, Amboy Monthly

The sound of gunfire filled the air. Most everyone thought the sound was just hunters eager for the new hunting season to begin, and getting a little target practice. When investigating further, the sound came from the a newly formed militia group called The Restorers. This group was lined up and calling out squad movements behind trees.

The group is organized by Thad Tidwell, 45. Tidwell served in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 2001 as a Green Beret.

No official statement has been made by the group, showing no intention of public attention. During the exercise as many as 45 people were seen participating. No laws were broken by the group, but local autorities stopped by and monitored the men to make sure nothing got out of hand.

"You would think a bunch of people all gearing up to fight something, would have something to fight about," local Amboy resident Charles Mackum, 77, stated. As for now The Restorers has not claimed an objective for the public. Yet many believe the union was created to try to "restore" the constitution back to the doctrines original intent. Sarah Rollings, 25, says, "It's nice to know that there is someone out there to fight for the people who is not a government employee."

Federal Authorities had no comment about the group, but when asked about The Restorers, Fred Micheals, 59, of the ATF asked,"The who? No comment."

Tidwells only comment to his group at the end of exercise was, "Thank you everyone for doing what is right. Be law abiding citizens, and keep Amboy a peaceful place."

As many of 30 Amboy citizens are part of this group, but all the members approached after their field exercise gave no comment or would admit even being there. So keep in mind as you go shopping The Restorers are among us.

An information company [name witheld at government request] has recently offered $105 million
dollars cash for the rights and ownership of TOBI on February 27th. Ideltech denied the offer
and told the company TOBI was not for sale. Marty replied, "In the age of information, information
is money, and money is power. So why give up the best income and power potential the world
has ever seen?"

Could it possibly be the Restorers trying to buy TOBI?

I'm really enjoying this pre-game so far. I'm in the camp where I prefer the stories to be told by PM-provided content rather than through a landslide of PM-to-player email that's impossible to keep up with by all but a devoted few. Hope it stays this way.

new forums

I'm wondering what people following this (pre) game would think about organizing the forums so that information is not too spread out. It would feel more useful (to me) if the AWARE forum was for a running account of new information, for instance, and a new forum might be created to deal with a particular subplot or problem. I like the "new post" email notices, but I don't get them when a new forum is opened up. Thoughts?

I'm not sure if there's quite enough information yet to warrant a subsection. When the game goes live we will have the standard sections for GENERAL, INTERACTION, PUZZLES, QUICK REF.

And all the information posted up until that point will be gathered under the PRE-GAME section.

The AWARE heading in this forum is the way it is because most of that is information gathered prior to the game receiving a home (while it was still in NEWS/RUMORS) under a single thread. I wouldn't keep adding to that particular thread at all anymore and leave it as the "true beginning" so to speak.

I think if we stick to descriptive headers (UPDATE- Amboy Monthly, CONTACT -email from M.Heller, etc) we can keep this forum tidy for the day it gets moved under PRE-GAME.

I'm not even sure if I've understood your suggestion.... Very Happy so if I haven't please feel free to clarify.
