New York update Recent post from the Mechanic:

The Eve of the End
Tomorrow, the final fragment will appear in the vicinity of New York. While we wait for what appears to be the end of this story, I want to thank you for your assistance. This has been a long journey (much longer that I expected it would be, surely), and many of you have followed its path to this moment. I very much appreciate that. The Operative was a dear friend of mine, and while I understand the frustration that comes with the fact that we could not do anything to help him, you have indeed helped me. It would not be possible to uncover this story; the fragments, without your help. And for that, I am most thankful.
It is great to have Mr. Beefy at the ready in NYC. I would add my two bits that I have enjoyed being part of the Blackhollow effort with all of you. Let's hold on to our seats and see what happens! - heathian

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I will be on a work trip, so my time will be very limited. Ideally a local would pick it up, and I'm sort of viewing myself as a backup if no one else can go. Do we know a specific location yet?

NY Location The location of the NY drop was just posted:

Great Kills Park. Go to the E lot and face the water. Go down the brick path to the right until you reach a gravel roadway. Notice the wooden pylons to the left, as they become hidden by tall grass. Find the pylon marked with red and white paint, and you will find the fragment. Good luck.
*eta Great Kills Park appears to be on Staten Island.

The only map I could find pinpointing parking lot E was in this pdf file:
http://www.efl.fhwa.dot.gov/contracting/Download.aspx?doc=3497
and if brick path is to the right, then that would be going north from parking lot E.

With the information posted about the location and the photograph of parking lot E that is shown in arthurdent's PDF file, I suspect the fragment might be located in the area identified by the red arrows. The photos are from Bing Maps and seem to show a brick path petering out to gravel? north of the boat ramp. There appear to be pylons on the water side of the path. I could be way off, of course and things may now be different from the photos... just trying trying offer some help from afar.

My apologies, but I did not have a free moment the entire trip.

Uh-oh... It looks like we have a Fragment with no one onboard to find it. Any ideas?

May have someone for tomorrow pick up Since no one else has been able to get out there, I have contacted a New York ARGer from another game that may be able to get there tomorrow evening. Let me know ASAP if someone else is planning to head there before then.

At least we now have someone who can make the retrieval, even if we have to wait a few days. Thanks again, GuestUser17. It might be good to send a msg to the Mechanic about the situation.

I'm in NYC and I've been lurking and following the story on and off. I can go hunting on Saturday if the Thursday attempt doesn't work out. I'll check back here for an update. It's quite a trek if you're not already on Staten Island!

The hunt is on for last fragment I just received a message that my contact just boarded the Staten Island ferry a few minutes ago. It's a little hike to get over there but I will keep you updated as she gets closer.
