That has yet to be found.

Why don't you ask him directly?

Umm..so there is a way to contact the mechanic!?
Has anyone thought to ask what the connection is between the person running the page and the person in control of the lighthouse ( which I assume is our missing agent? Still trying to play catch up). From the initial paragraph, it seems familiarity between the two..may be family?

Just out of curiosity I asked the page runner if they are related to the missing agent. We'll see if I get an answer.

On the postcard received by ARGNet, the top left says, "Blackhollow Point, England 1940 - Painted by J. C[something]."

Any chance we could get a scan of that instead of a photo?

The scanner I used was even harder to read than the photo -- here's the full size version, though...when I get home I'll try and get a better image.

It almost looks like J. Calibeck to me.

Brilliant -- thanks so much! Y'all are fantastic! It just occurred to me--doesn't that handwriting look like the handwriting of the letter near "WHO IS THE ARTIST?"

Transcript of that letter:
I've waited a lifetime to fix what happened in our past, but if you're reading this, it means things didn't go as I had planned. You will think it is too late, but it is not. I've missed you more than you could ever know. Remember our time together, and make me remember, because we will see each other again.

And going back to the Mechanic's letter (Necropolitan, that was very clever!):

After hearing from our
contact in Washington, it's
safe to say that the failure to
deliver our target should no
longer be considered a failure.
While it (ever?) was in the
eyes of the OSS, I know
you considered it a mission
unaccomplished. Remember,
friend, the incidents that
occur during our mission [TICKET]
(?) by the (?) of (?)[TICKET]
mission. I will see you in
New York soon.

notgordian: Quick question. Was looking over the flicker of the box, and saw the picture frame. Was it empty and glassless or was there some glass in there, it's hard to tell from the photo.

I changed my email and fat fingered the spelling so I had some time, while SpaceBass was nice enough to fix it for me, to research a couple of things before posting. So this is a little longer because I was taking notes for awhile.

The 20060826 - Armstrong turns up as a result on google as a sound file that is not the one of the Blackhollow site. I was thinking that since I don't know much HTML or CSS that maybe that was the way sample files are saved in one of those languages and maybe it is but I went to a couple of different sites and the sound/music for that file was the same on all of them. Sort of a building heartbeat bass thing.

http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/demo/page-player/

Of course, it could just be 08/26/2006 and/or could be referring to Louis Armstrong's cover of Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.

The WW 2 era is not the same era as the song. So it seems unlikely that it is "their" song. Whoever they are, I'm a little smooshy on who goes with whom.

The other research-y thing I saw was that Tartarus (the computer's name) is Greek mythology's dungeon in Hades. Sort of like purgatory for Hell. It is, I read in one search result, the opposite of Elysium which by the way opens August 8. This stuff seems way different than the trailers I've seen so I think it is just a stretch or a coincidence. Sort of like the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Also the RMS Galatia according to the newspaper on the site was attacked by German U-boats on its way to New York. My guess is that is where the circled x in the middle of the Atlantic on the map represents. Most on the boat were saved by some escorting ships but 300 or so went missing.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading. Smile

There's been some activity on the tumblr: http://discover.blackhollowproject.com/post/55836997309/northeast-operative-cache

Quote:
What would have been if it weren't for that fateful night? While we await the incoming fragment crossover, which I will have more information on soon (unless the rest of the system isn't functional, in which case, I will have no information at all), I had a sudden realization.

The caches. Specifically, the northeast cache, where The Operative and the Mathematician would have gone to find their assignment after disembarking the RMS Galatia. As I said, what would have been? We may be able to find out.

Stay tuned.

If the Operative is also the lighthouse keeper, then he survived the attack on the RMS Galatia; did the Mathematician?

Also, Tenshi Akui got a reply: http://discover.blackhollowproject.com/post/55798120634/are-you-related-to-the-missing-operative

Quote:
tenshiakui asked: Are you related to the missing operative?

He is a close friend from long ago. I haven't seen him in quite some time. When the old system started telling me about the fragments, I knew something was not right. In my heart I knew it was him.

Who is running this tumblr? Is it the Mechanic? The tumblr-runner calls the Operative "a close friend from long ago" -- reminds me of "Hello, old friend" from QM2319.mp3 (also posted on the tumblr: http://discover.blackhollowproject.com/post/55605364572/qm2319).

Quote:
There's been anomalies in the past. There always has, is, and will be. But the device; never used. Things aren't as simple as they seem.

It's easy to find stories about such things. A bloke opens up his postbox in our current time and inside is a letter from the war, a letter of unrequited love from Europe. A war will do things like that to a man. All anomalies, regardless.

Things; artifacts, quantum fragments as I call them. Bits and pieces from the past. But the answer to the question "Who's past?" or "Which past?" is not so obvious. Of course it is, you say. No. I've lived many years and seen many things. The answer isn't at all obvious.

And with the disappearance of my old friend the Operative, these fragments are no anomaly.

They are not from this place.

Will "the incoming fragment crossover" be an audiolog -- http://blackhollowproject.com/2319/audio/001.mp3 isn't available yet, but there is http://blackhollowproject.com/2319/images/textweek1.png: "Code 813. Encrypted Apr 24 1943"; presumably this will show up in the list of after-action reports -- or will we get the chance to interact in realtime with The Epithets?

With him bring up the caches that the Operative and Mathematician would have used upon their depature from the boat, I'm thinking something (other than the boat sinking) prevented them from completing the mission.

If it had been just a boat sinking, when they returned to would they not have continued with the assignments? But if the Mathematician had died....

Totally love the use of The Epithets as a collective name for the various characters Smile Just had to say! Smile

The postcard on the webpage has some writing on the right edge above the first "tear" that looks like 55 to me. I guess going with the era could be a fancy SS. Also the Blackhollow Point writing is in a different location on the website. It is much closer to the corner and the painter name is not on the webpage's version.

I posed a question to the tumblr, hoping for an answer re: seattle and coordinates.

Also, I've created an IRC channel over on irc.freenode.net if anyone would like to brainstorm.

I'm in Los Angeles, so I've been trying to figure out more about that drop!

So our buddy on tumbler posted something new...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It looks like luggage tags from the ship with "If Found 946 620" stamped on it.

No clue on my end.

The only thing I can come up with is that there's something down by the pier we're supposed to find, but that's a total shot in the dark. I'm out in the SF bay area, so I don't know the first thing about Manhattan

Do the locations on the map on the website relate, or correspond to each other, in any way?
Also, hi. shadowwalker reporting in. newbie here.
