 		yeah i was asking my wife's cousin about Sandy Hook as her and her friends hang out there sometimes, and she mentioned that there was a nude beach near by.

i kind of regret napping this afternoon, i may have gone and got it. of course i was expecting it to be tomorrow.

 		my wife will be armed with a camera and i will be recording it with my phone (decided against the gopro) so there should be plenty of footage.

 		well fun afternoon was cut short due to rain. we did get to see the old lighthouse and the barracks around it. really cool historical stuff down there.

anyway here is the video of the unboxing.

and here is everything that was in the box. my scanner kind of sucks but you know the mechanic will post these as well soon.

Also, there is a picture in there that i took from the same spot as the photo that was given to us. just for fun.

The back of the Painting had a message on it in french.

"pour l'eternite jusqu'à ce que le temps lui même n'existe plus. pour mon amour, anastasie.

google says that means

"for eternity until time itself no longer exists. my love, anastasie."

As a native French speaker, I can confirm that Google did not lead us astray Smile. So now we have two names; Arika who is the Mathematician's lover, and now Anastasie, who I'm thinking may be the one who the Spy stayed in Europe for? I'll work on getting a transcription together for the journal pages so they're easier to read.

 		NOTE: I misread the girl's name in the first set of journal pages. Her name is Anika. I confirmed it on my hard copies.

Transcriptions of the new journal pages:

The war worsens. The man visits daily. I follow my routine: come to my desk, write the equations, erase the equations, start again. Hope for some flaw, some other purpose this math might serve. But there is only one purpose. A purpose I dare not allow. The man says the Americans are close, but I must be closer. I must finish the work, or all is lost. I know this is true. But what do we lose if I win? I cannot see a way this ends well.

Today I try something new. A new approach, with new math. It comes to me like a dream, a new way through the logic. I follow it, and it leads me places I do not understand. It tells me the world is information painted on the horizon, that we are reflections, nothing so substantial as it seems.

I work again and again through this new math, this new horizon, try to find in it some hope, some flaw. I cannot see where this leads. At least it distracts. This, I can show them: it does not help them build their bomb.

The man does not understand any equations, but somehow he knows: this is not what they ask me to make. He is unhappy. He says I know my place, I know my work. I must do my work, the work they want, or there will be consequences. Just as for all the others, who could not, did not serve their union. Time is running out, he says. Perhaps I do not understand the stakes. Perhaps they do not feel real. He says, perhaps you do not know what we lose if you do not complete the work. What you lose.

When he is gone, I take the new numbers, burn them all. Write the particle cascade again, hope I forget. But every symbol is still in its place. I never forget.

I come home and the kettle is hot on the stove. Anika is gone. A note, in her hand: do the work. I have no words left to say.


So what we know/some conjecture, feel free to correct me on this or add your own thoughts:
    - The Soviets have the Mathematician working on particle cascade equations in an effort to outrace the Americans in making the atomic bomb.
    - The Spy is being sent to take him into protective custody in America.
    - Anika has been taken, likely by the Man.
    - the RMS Galatia had warning of the U-boat attacks
    - ~300 people were unaccounted for in the survivors of the Galatia attack
    - The Spy either remained or returned to Europe.


Does it sound to anyone how, I don't know, artistic the Mathematician sounds when describing the new approach? About how reality is only what we perceive? *hint hint*

And I retract my previous statement about the Spy/Anastasie. Instead I think she may be related to the Artist.
