 		The Bellman has only ever referred to them as the Couple, but I have been taking it to mean a royal couple (king and queen? prince and princess? Kate Middleton and Prince William?).

From the sounds of it they were captured by the Unholy Court and have been rescued by the Troopers.

But I'm most curious about this Tweet:

We've seen teind used once before in an email from Rose to Mehetabel:

According to Wiki, a teind is either a tithe or a "tribute due to be paid by the fairies to the devil every seven years."

So are the Couple intended to be a tribute for the devil, or were they rescued from being tributes?

 		sounds to me like they were rescued from being given...but how did they get them in the first place? did they summer court give them up and then regret it?

I take that back. after some research my question is, why doesnt the summer court have a teind to pay? and were the 8 teinds kidnapped so the fear wouldnt have to give up their own people?

He and Janet roamed among the land that separates the two Courts, unable to return home. At the same time, the Queen of the Unholy was attempting to track down the couple-- the promise she kept was not to use him as a teind, but he was still her favored Knight in her eyes. The couple has been wandering about for some time before one of our nomadic allies found them and relayed the news of their existence to us. They have been hidden in one of the nomad's hollow hills, safe from the Unholy Court's grasp-- for a time. After a while, the Unholy Knights found them and our Troopers had to fight and free them- it was then decided that we would instead have them stay with us in the Summer Court, at least until the rest of the situation is resolved.

Tam Lin's time spent close to the Queen in the Unholy means that he has knowledge that others within the court do not- who the other teinds are that need to be rescued, and how to rescue them. And his hatred of the Unholy Court means that he has decided to share this information with us if we can find a way to allow him and his Janet to return to the mortal realm and find a way for the Unholy Court to break their bond over him.

 		Love this, my grand-parents were Scottish, and this is bringing up a lot of stuff I remember from their old, old, faerie tales. pretty much everything mentioned so far is Scottish folklore. for example the leader of the guard, Drust, is the name many Pictish kings had. can't wait to see where it goes from here.
