[TRAILHEAD] The Marie Fortescue Letters

So i woke up this morning with this email from lucylefortSPLATyahoo.com

Quote:
Dearest Friends,

I'm writing because as you know I've been working a book about American poets and I've inadvertently stumbled upon a mystery that has put my life in danger. The sooner I get to the bottom of this the better.

You can read the whole story here:
http://themariefortescueletters.wordpress.com

Meanwhile, I have a good friend in Paris who is going to be conducting some research for me. Since many of you are living or studying abroad or are history buffs yourselves, I'm putting out a request for help and information. Right now I need to find out everything I can about Montparnasse, in Paris, France.

I know this is all very confusing, and I don't mean to alarm anyone, but your discretion in this matter would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Well... no mystery writer, i did not know you were writing a book >.>

either way i thought i should leave this here in case it becomes something or is useful to someone else!

Yeah got one too, lets see where this goes. Interesting a 65 old secret worth killing for, hopefully not just an embarrassing love affair with a New York lamp post Wink

Ode to a New York Lamp post sounds like a minor poet to me Wink

ETA: Sent an email to Lucy regarding her queries

I surprised as a person who knows poets has never heard of Montparnasse a well known place of poets, artists and writers. In the 17th century students named the place Mount Parnassus, if you are rusty on your Greek Myths that's where the nine Muses lived. A place of inspiration perhaps I should move there always in need of inspiration.

I believe they make crêpes in Breton restaurants a few blocks away.

Fernand Léger a painter and filmmaker wrote of that period: "man…relaxes and recaptures his taste for life, his frenzy to dance, to spend money…an explosion of life-force fills the world."

I suspect minor poet like Claire Morel would definitely have spent time there probably at La Ruche, a three-storey circular house home to many a poor artist and poet.

Perhaps you will find some clues there.

I was thinking AI also, but I played that one and didn't get an email for this one. Not that that is definitive proof, but there ya go. I didn't play cardkeepers, FWIW.

I was actually thinking Moonlight into Noon. I was sad that it stopped so suddenly, but if she now has this new thing then yay!

Btw, have you gotten email from This Is My Idea after you've registered? Because I haven't got anything yet.

Hi All! Hi Elethamei, found my reply from This Is My Idea among all my Spam. Laughing Also got the trailhead email & short one from Lucy later b/c the "Letter Fragment" blog comments were originally closed.

Lucy Le Fort in an email wrote:
Thank you for taking the time to write! I agree that I should bring the note to the attention of someone at the university. Perhaps I will begin with committee chair, who is a trusted friend and colleague. I'll keep you all posted! I will also fix the comments section.
