New tweet and video Sorry for the double post, we have a new video:
Quote:
shapeLITE480 @shapeLITE480 36m
This is a little video I told Jeremy to record. Its just something I wanted to send everyone: http://bit.ly/13TFRv9
Now I'm thoroughly confused (nothing new really!) There is a number in the vid, 1031, and it's on a car radio, so a quick google search gets this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1031,_A_Number_Of_Things_From...
Yup, still don't have a clue!

Oookay.
Well, i'm assuming that the car radio stuff is just a distraction, and the real action is in the stuff being read off in a computer voice. I tried to transcribe it, but obviously others should double check...
(# is where the voice says "number"; i underlined the ones I'm especially unsure about)
Quote:
# A S 2 1 A S # 2 4 6 9 1 9 # 6 D 5 D 1 1 # 0 SA A CS # C D D 2 0 C # 4 5 4 D 5 S # 7 9 A A 4 8
I'm guessing that this must be combined with Numbers.jpg somehow in order to be solved...

Lol, that'll teach me to watch vids without the sound turned on!!
EDIT: Little tweet convo for you:
Quote:
Vicki Bernath @mightyfulcrum 48m
@shapeLITE480 well, that is certainly...erm...curious...
Quote:
shapeLITE480 @shapeLITE480 14m
@mightyfulcrum (1/2) My conversations with you, at least up to this point in time, have been nothing if not curious.
Quote:
shapeLITE480 @shapeLITE480 13m
@mightyfulcrum (2/2) You're sharp Ms. Bernath, if there is something there to understand, you can figure it out.
There's that word sharp again!

So all this talk about sharp and him making comments about people being sharp made me curious.
I did a search for anything involving codes and sharp and found that you can code and decode messages with Visual C#. However this is not something I'm good at. So figured I'd pass this on incase someone else may have better luck at it.

On a related side note. The # is also the musical sign for sharp.

shapester put up a new tweet:
Quote:
The video is a fabrication. You won't pick up a 'real' numbers station on a car stereo. You can ignore it completely if you want to.
Sooo, this leads me to think that this is supposed to represent a "numbers station"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_station
I had to delve into number stations a while back for another ARG. They are completely fascinating. Hrmm...
EDIT: although I'm confused about why he's telling us to ignore the video.

Double-post: I think I have a partial solve:
The Numbers.jpg is the "key" and the numbers in the new video are the coded message, which I think are indeed coordinates.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think the numbers in the message are actually color hex codes.
Each group of six is a hex code for a specific color. You then have to find the matching color in the Numbers.jpg and then that will give you the final number of what I assume will be the coordinate.
My problem is that not all of the numbers I'm hearing sound like what they should be. For example, I am hearing "S" but that isn't a valid hex code. I have tried to substitute "F" instead, but that doesn't give me a good match on a color. The other problem is that the colors showing up for me when I open Numbers.jpg and read out the hexes aren't always a match to the number strings. So I have to kind of eyeball and guess.
Anyway:
AS21AS (AF 21 AF) = closest color match is the "28" color square
24 69 12 = "48" color square (exact match)
6D 5B 11 = "0 N" color square (exact match; note that I originally misheard "B" as "D")
0 SA A CS (0F AA CF) = closest color match is the "22" color square
CD D2 0C = "32" color square (exact match)
45 4E 5F = "0 E" color square (exact match; note that I originally misheard "E" as "D" and "F" as "S")
79 AA 48 = "480" color square (almost exact match)
If my guesses are correct, that gives: 28 48 0 N 22 32 0 E 480
Unfortunately, the first number in each coordinate is the most important, as far as finding a location goes, and that is the number that I am least certain about.

Great catch dante!
Because you weren't too sure about the numbers I listened to it again and just typed what I thought I heard and got the same as the ones you used for the codes. So I think what you have is correct.
As to the close ones that is odd and I'm not sure what to think of those.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What's strange is the location came up as Libya if you take the 480 off. No clue what that means.

Following the same process as danteIL and Tenshui did, I got something a little different.
in the video the first line I heard was:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(number) 3f21as which isn't a color I don't think. But the first color in the upper right hand corner is 3f2af, which equals 38
all the other numbers seemed the same though, for a result of:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
38 48 0N 22 32 0E 480
Which, if you drop off the 480, then leads you too
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
somewhere in greece, but I'm not sure of the significance[spoiler]
Maybe the 480 is just his signature or something?

Unspoilering your coords (38 48 0N 22 32 0E) b/c the "somewhere in greece" found is Thermopylae where in 480 BC the famous Battle of Thermopylae was waged.
Also, Props bigtime to danteIL for cracking the color Hex codes above and Congrats again on your beaut prize!

Nice!! That looks like a pretty definitive answer -- those coordinates come up dead spot on Thermopylae.
The problem (for me at least) is that you can get quite a lot of variation on the hex codes that get extracted from colors -- it depends on the image used and on the program you are using to get the hex values. We ran into this same problem in the R U Artist ARG. Couple that with the lousy sound quality of that computerized voice, and you get a lot of extra noise.... oh well.
So, y'all should tweet shapeLITE with the possible answer... I'm not sure how this helps us learn anything more about him. Maybe he's a big fan of 300

joshtheme, no worries & no sorry. You didn't "overspoiler". Been reading about that battle for days & this is such a beaut, direct lead I wanted to highlight your find!
ETA: Reckon I'll leave the shapeLITE tweet to those who enjoy fencing with him & mention here the battle is viewed as as prime example of the power of patriotism.

I asked about Thermopylae and got this response.
Quote:
shapeLITE480 @TenshiAkui Thermopylae is the location, but it's not the answer. If you want to know something about me, just look at my name.

Hrm I'm guessing that "shapeLITE" is an anagram for some Greek name, but I can't figure it out. Someone who was at the battle? A Greek storyteller?

Thanks for the idea of anagramming !
I remembered a name from the wikipedia article on Thermopylae:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ephialtes, the traitor
