That's what we(most of us)'re afraid of.

I suspect Hoody has no choice but to make a move now, to avoid becoming TTA (which I assume is his version of a Masky state). The big question we should be asking right now ladies and gentlemen, is:

Who all has a gun?

Hoody has one as of #73, so I think he still has it now.

Tim was hiding something in his bag the night they went to Alex's house, 72.

Alex may or may not have a gun. He had one before, but we can't really be sure who ended up with the gun after 52. Maybe Alex kept it and Tim found his own. Hoody got his from Alex in 68, so the only way for there to be a second gun in the scenario is if Tim has it.

Would it be safe to assume that the almost comatose state Jay has been in the last few weeks is the same thing he went through during the several month blackout?

The thing is, Jay wasn't actually blacked out at all during those months. He was actually awake and functioning that whole time, it's just that his memory got erased. If you remember, Jay uploads footage of what he was doing during those seven months. First and foremost, him going to the return address and meeting Alex. After that came his interactions with Alex and helping him "find" Amy. Then him getting in touch with Jessica - you get the idea. At the end of it all (Entry #52), the Operator comes to Jay's hotel room after Jessica screams, and that's when Jay's memory gets erased. Jay then wakes up (Entry #27), and doesn't remember anything.

Some people think those seven months were a blackout, when they actually weren't, but it's all good. I understand how you could think that way at a glance.

Almost filler, except for a few things we knew in our guts and the most important thing: the role of the pills against The Operator

Either that or Tim just did not want to mention it.

First off, I really enjoyed the vérité style of the first few minutes of the Entry. The out of focus street lights in the rainy night were especially beautiful. But then, I'm a sucker for that sort of thing.

Observations:

* Tim's sporting a beard. He and Jay have been on the road/in hiding for a while now and are a little worse for the wear.

* Jay is really out of sorts, which leads us directly to something someone else has already pointed out:

* "TO been mentioned a couple of time as "that Thing," if I recall correctly, but this is indeed the longest, most directly it has been talked about." In a story where an eight-foot besuited semi-incorporeal hobgoblin is hauting the protagonists and no one discusses it, I maintain that this is an important development.

* The pills defend against TO? Tim thinks they do anyway, and that is what is going to motivate whatever happens next.

Seriously, I love this.

OOG:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Also, I suppose this is as good a place as any to address one of my main problems with Marble Hornets as a narrative, and that is its bizarre and often frustrating lack of meta narrative.

To explain: MH established from Entry 1 (actually from Introduction) that it takes place in the Real World. In Our World. It's filmed on tapes that are upload to YouTube with the intention of reaching an audience. It is not a "video diary" and there are no talking to the camera exposition shots (and thank the Old Gods for that) but Joseph, Troy and Tim trust us to understand that the majority of what Jay, Alex and Tim do is not filmed, and as such we, the audience, have come to expect that therefore everything we do see is important somehow to the narrative at large.

So, when the main antagonist - a supremely mysterious, apparently invincible being that is for all intents and purposes the personification of humankind's worst fears - shows up teleporting people willy-nilly, haunting others and driving still another to apparent madness and the protagonists refuse to even fucking talk about it the weirdometer moves from "that's a little weird" to "seriously guys, wtf?".

Think about that. Your friend begins acting strangely and you see evidence that he is being stalked by some sort of non-human intelligence. Then you yourself become a target of this thing, whatever it is, to the point that you begin documenting your experiences on the internet. You see this thing. It attacks you. It steals your memory and makes people around you disappear. You upload videos of it to YouTube. You meet another person who also sees this thing and quite possibly knows more about it than you do.

And you never talk about it among yourselves.

Think about that.

Wouldn't you have to? Or at least reference the fact that you're not discussing it? Some kind of in-game reason? I maintain that Marble Hornets is the best web series about the Slender Man mythology but it is a webseries that never mentions its own mythology. And that's just weird. Off-puttingly so.

I guess it's better than the alternative. It's better than a bunch of people who can't act breaking the fourth wall and going "OK, here's what we know about Slender Man: he's big, he's scary, but we're going to fuck him up, OK? Stay tuned for the next video where we go fuck him up." I'm not a big fan of expository dialogue, but it's just bizarre that a series that delights so much in its form and function (video replies from ToTheArk! crowdsourced puzzles! a Twitter feed!) fumbles so hard when it comes to referencing its own mythology.

(tl;dr - it's weird that nobody really talks about TO and I don't like it.)

I was surprised that Tim didn't bring up the tape that Hoody picked up and put back. They finally didn't go that route.

Not all that surprising if Hoody was calling Tim out (liar) on hiding the tape from Jay in the first place.

Tim wants to go back to the house to pick up more medication, despite Hoody's video showing us that he took the last of the medication. Maybe he has a few bottles squirreled away in the toilet tank or something, or maybe he wants to head back and grab something before Jay reviews #73 for himself.

Like the tape? I wouldn't be suprised about that. I could see Tim going back and risking everything for that tape (and maybe he does have some squirreled away meds) and getting seriously hurt or killed in the process... because there's something on that tape that incriminates him. Remember, In the last thread (CALLED IT btw) I mentioned that I wasn't sure which party the tape belonged to, Alex since he was there, or Tim because it was his house. If I'm applying Occam's Razor correctly, then they've given us a couple huge clues in the past entries to prove the latter.

1. In his debrief, Tim didn't mention it to Jay. THIS IS HUGE. By far the most important clue. I thought there were no more secrets Tim? This whole thing was started by tapes, why didn't you bring it up when it was featured so prominently? Which leads to my next clue...

2. Hoody made a point to risk capture and look for it in TIM'S box. He then held it up, but did not take it. He easily could have, he had plenty of time, hell, he had time to replace it, after all. He merely showed it to the world. Showed it to Tim, since Jay was previously out of commission. He gave Tim the opportunity to mention it. To prove that he was not a liar. A test, if you will. If this is true, then Tim failed that test outright.

I know a lot of you are seriously sick of the tapes trope.... but I want to see what's on it. I want to know why Tim didn't mention it, I want to know why Tim is a liar.

As far as this being more befitting a .5 entry, yes, you are correct. However, the last entry was not uploaded by them, so a standard numbered entry here serves as a distinction between the two parties (TTA and JayTim,) and also served as a set up for a massive confrontation in the next entry.

I trusted Tim, I trusted Tim so much. I thought the tape could just have been there without Tim knowing it, or not remembering it, but now the fact he hasn't even mentioned it to Jay, makes me feel uneasy.
If I were Jay I would be paranoid enough about not trusting people's memories (even if he relies on Tim) to rewatch myself the entries, but he looked disorientated, so I won't blame him if he does not do that.

And about the thing of uploading what they intend to do next: even if it is not the most smart movement, maybe as Alex has been hiding in Tim's abandoned house he has no acces to the Internet?

But if Tim hasn't been paying his bills lately, he would have no electricity to charge the laptop nor Internet acces.
Anyway, we don't know anything and it's kind of pointless to talk about that Razz

Hoody's "masky" state being totheark makes an immense amount of sense honestly. Would explain why some of the totheark videos look like they're made by different people. Hoody and totheark both seem to be the most informed about everything going on. Maybe hoody is half aware of his "masky" state, allowing him to remember all of the shenanigans he got into?

Aram, as far as not mentioning the operators name goes, I think it's more the fact they don't know what to call it. Their main mission has never been to "hunt down that thing" it's always been find Alex, find Jessica, find Amy, find Tim. At this point they've discussed the masked deal and the pills because that's currently what they're working on. I think maybe, in the final act, they'll focus on the big creepy faceless guy problem. Maybe they'll go back through totheark videos and figure out he's called the operator, and figure out all the clues as to what he does.

I picture the confrontation at the house (most likely) next entry as a stand-off with everyone pointing guns at each other in Tim's living room. Masky somehow mentions/points Jay to the tape, Jay flips out at Tim for being a liar then turns into his "masky" state. Tim ends up saving the day by shoving pills down his throat. In the scuffle masky gets his mask removed, and a new ally is made, but he's a "not really sure who's side he's on" kinda ally.

Yeah, that brings up the issue of money. Where on earth do they seriously get it from? The YouTube veiws? I kinda doubt that it would be enough to live on let alone rent a motel room every night
