I am not sure how I missed this, but Primordial and Rustic are two types of Greek Deities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Greek_mythological_figures

Erebus is a Primoridial Deity and is the father of the Keres and the Keres are sisters to the Fates.

Maybe I'm stretching things, but it seems too coincidental to me. Really though I could just be overly enthusiastic.

Edit: I got an email back from the school, but it's nothing of note. I asked to be put on their wait list so my daughter can attend the school. Geneva is also following me on twitter now. Though for some unrelated reason I am unable to send tweets. So I probably won't participate via twitter much.

I can post the emails if people want, but like I said, so far there is nothing super interesting in them.

Sorry to be posting again with nothing really new. I noticed in Geneva's latest blog post she mentioned that she was sitting down to watch the first season of Game of Thrones on Netflix. That strikes me as odd, because HBO doesn't have any of it's shows streaming on Netflix.

It may not be anything related to the game, but what if it is and Geneva isn't the most reliable source.

I mean right now I don't think we have a whole lot to go by, but why say you were doing something that is so easy to discredit?

Also curse her for making me thing Game of Thrones was on Netflix and that I might actually be able to watch it finally Mad

I had this exact same line of thinking! And was also mad because I really want to watch GoT on Netflix :p

Necro beat me to it Wink

So, whoa, lotta blood, and it doesn't appear to be Cassidy's. Curious that her sister is covered in it, but not her parents. (Wikipedia on Cassandra says she had a twin brother, Helenus. Doesn't mention a sister. Still, wonder what Cassidy's sister's name is?)

Might not hurt to ask about the GoT/Netflix thing - if it's an error, I bet the PM will find a way to cover it, or they might just ignore it. I've asked a few questions of Geneva that haven't been answered, so if she doesn't respond, it's probably not important.

I was hoping there'd be more content on the school website once classes started. Oh well, adds to the mystery.

I sent her a DM on twitter asking about it. I can't send any tweets from my account for some reason (I suspect one of my addons is conflicting with Twitter). So we'll see what she says. It could be a simple error, something that was put in to be topical, since GoT is one of the most popular shows on TV right now.

I find it interesting that most things seem to be in threes, either the PM just wanted us to get to the 'three' page, or three will be significant throughout....in which case why only 2 initiates?

(incidentally I chose Hecate as my favourite, goddess of witchcraft who is often depicted with three heads.. it's like I knew Smile )

There is a lot in Greek Myths involving the number 3.

The Three rulers (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades), The Three Charities (Splendor, Mirth, and Good Cheer), The Three Fates (Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos), The three Erinyes (Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone), Cerberus the three headed dog, The three judges of the underworld (Minos, Rhadamanthys, and Sarpedon), and of course Hecate the three faced goddess.

There are many cultures who consider three to be a sacred number as well. So I'm not surprised they are using the number often.

As to the two initiates rather than three... either a) they need one more and it will be our responsibility to find them (one of us?) or b) we just haven't been introduced to the third or c) the number of initiates is not just that important and only counts the new teachers.

Geneva answered my DM. It probably was PM error, she corrected it by saying.

Quote:
Lol. Well, I didn't want to say I was watching a pirated copy Wink

So big mystery solved... not really though Razz

I am considering emailing the school again to request more information on the school, like flyers or a booklet or something, since my daughter is being put on the waiting list. Or at least I requested she was. What do you guys think? I am not well versed in things like this, is that too forward?

I don't think that's too forward but you might not get anything since I doubt the PM has that material at hand. What about asking more about the curriculum, or the classes that are offered, along with flyers/booklets/school handbook/etc?

Yeah good point. I'm working on the email now. So I'll let you all know how it goes.

So this was my email:

Quote:
First, I would like to thank you again for your prompt reply to my last correspondence. Since we are now on your waiting list I was curious, do you have more information on the school? Class curriculum, history of the school, or any flyers or brochures you could send me about the school?

Also what sorts of clubs and extracurricular activities do you have at the school? Do you have a good program for the arts? As an Art History teacher myself (I specialize in ancient Greek and Roman art and architecture) I believe a good education includes the arts.

Again I thank you for your time, and I look forward to further correspondences.

Hopefully I get something back. So far they have been really good about replying.

Email to the School

Well this seems like worth a punt or two, did you notice that Rhea & Talos are Mythical figures not historical ones?

I put an anon comment on G's Blog regarding this and have just in emailed the school posing as a School Inspector:

Quote:
It has fallen to me to inform you that your school will inspected in the new year according to State rules.

In preparation for this inspection I will require your full curriculum.

I have however noticed that your website states:

"This semester we are proud to announce we will be incorporating a few new historical figures into our curriculum"

It is somewhat odd that you seem to think Rhea & Talos are historical figures when in fact they are figures from Greek Myth, unless of course you are teaching an alternative religion. Perhaps you could clarify your position on this please.

Mr S. Leamas

Thought this might be a different tact to try.

Just a little bit of digging I did here that I figured I'd share (a small connection I found interesting but probably useless Razz ), arete (the word on the moorpond school for girls main page that someone previously defined) is also personified as the Greek Goddess of Virtue, along with her sister Homonoia (Peace) and mother, Praxidike (Justice).

As it so happens, the statue in Geneva Ryder's twitter profile picture is the Roman goddess of abundance, of which the Greek counterpart is a group of Goddesses called the Horae, or Hours. They are usually depicted as a triad of Goddesses, one of the most common being those of Peace, Justice, and Virtue.

Another new blog post - http://moorpond.blogspot.com/2013/08/first-day-of-school.html

Her room number is listed as 15-18-9-7-9-14.

Also, Cassidy's sister is Helen, so good job on calling that one, Petunia!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That decodes to ORIGIN. I went to http://moorpondschool.org/origin.html and found this: Origin » Chaos » 12 » Overthrow » ?

Thoughts?

I just woke up, so I'm going to ponder it over my coffee.
