Wyoming Incident Revival?
Most will remember the Happy Cube forums from the ill-fated Wyoming Incident. A little while ago I received this email from a "boardmoderator":

Going to the Forum, we find an announcement from boardmoderator:

Then another thread posing the question "Who is Joseph Bright?"

Throughout most of early 2007, a man claiming to be named Joseph Bright was a participant in the "Wyoming Incident" alternate reality/role-playing game that used this board as a headquarters of sorts.

Bright is unstable and may have irrationally acted on things that he saw or read about on these forums and in the game. There is reason to believe that he has continued to play the game, despite it ending almost two years ago.

We do not know how active the off-site community is, but we have heard that there are/were IRC channels and other websites where details about the Wyoming Incident were discussed.

If any of you knew and conversed with anyone from a chatroom or forum who called himself JosephBright, JoeBright, JoBright, JBright, B-37, CopperFist, or AmIn, please message me whatever details about him you can. Useful information would include details about where he is currently living (even just the state would help), what his current occupation is, whether or not he is abusing drugs, possible alternative names he may be using, and so on.

 		Now that's interesting.
I have heard about Wyoming Incident mostly after the TV hacks. What was this actually? Was it just hacking and intermissions or an ARG with a story?

Because it looked interesting, but I couldn't find a good summary of what was going on there.

 		Well, its been a long, long time since I last really thought about this (at least, until I read the email this morning) but from what I can recall, the videos which formed the core of the "Wyoming Incident" were only ever aired on Youtube, though the story claimed they had actually aired on TV.

IIRC.

I'm going to have to brush up on all this.

 		I can barely believe it. Something new after all this time? I'll be watching this, to be sure - it was the only ever ARG I got involved with, so it's fitting to be drawn back by it.

 		Weird thing is that I was killing time when I was visiting my mother in the hospital and I explained WI from almost start to finish, at least what I can remember.

Funny how it's back. I am on the fence about this being a revival, but it does seem to be rather ARG-ish. I just read back through the BEK observation thread and it sent chills back down my spine just like it did in 07. I'm a grown man, I shouldn't get jumpy about this stuff.

 		Here is the nickel tour of WI. (glossing over a metric ton of details)

WI started with video 1. From that we were somehow directed to the Happy Cube forum. We put two and two together from the old HC forums and learned that Happy Cubing was related to killing people for sport/pleasure.

Around 04 or 05, two years prior to the video being released, something happened and the boards went dark until the players found a new post. From there the PMs ran us through many story lines and the other 5 videos. The character arcs ran through Lovecraft references and ancient greek gods. We were all basically waiting on something to happen. The videos eluded to some big invasion, or presence coming. The Black Eyed Kids were reported to be sent out on observations of the players (which is unnerving to say the least). The kids reported in, and we got word that one of the big bosses was coming.

When the big boss got to the forum he posted with "'twas all for boners".

Game over. The PMs noted that they ran our of ideas and didn't have anywhere else to go with the story, so they ended it and came clean.
