You get used to it when you been ARG'ing as long as some of have.

Yep, still one of the oldest members here & a mod... Wink

My point was just tongue-in-cheek about over-use of spoiler tags, and limiting to what we actually consider spoilers (puzzle solutions or significant movie/tv plot points). Things like messages from characters, plain language translations, or publicly available text and whatnot we generally don't consider spoiler-tag worthy, and just serve to make a forum page much more..overly interactive. Wink

Actually I am the oldest here.
I been a member since 2003 a year before you came aboard.. I am also 42.

Ummm, maybe it'll update today? It has been 2 weeks since the last update, right? And if it's a 6 week training period, then we should have a simulation every 2 weeks. Best part about this ARG: I get to go around telling people that I signed up for a biotech implant, and their reactions are pretty funny! Very Happy

I went to the BMC Labs...

I went to BMC Labs at the TIFF with my man (APB_art on twitter) yesterday and I'm going to recap our crazy experience. I think I've got the time frame figured out.

On Nov 7, I tweeted that I had got my tickets to the TIFF to see the Cronenberg exhibit and then the BMCLabs. About 20 minutest later they tweeted back asking when they could expect our visit with them. I replied we'd be there on the Nov 10. Yesterday morning (the 10th) we both woke up to tweets and DMs from BMC. They asked us what colour we would be wearing to visit them. So, YIKES, we replied describing our clothes. APB_art then got a few tweets that read "It's red, you know what #PODLOVES YOU" and "tactile". He said he was wearing a red shirt. I also got a DM that said:

I have no idea what the "No thanks" refers to. The gift refers to APB_art because I told BMC it was his birthday. The french? Maybe the La Rochelle place/actress name? I thought it was signed "X" so I asked who X was. They replied "Minus X". I have no idea what that might mean either.

We were both then asked in a DM if we smoked. We both said no. APB_art was offered a cigarette by BMC but said even though he wouldn't know what to do with it, he'll take one. We both got the "smoking is not permitted in the BMC Labs".

A few hours after these conversations BMC tweeted "Have you asked if it's socially positive?" They then DMed us again suggesting we ask in person if they're "socially positive". This is about when we really started freaking out.

We then got a notice that BMC had tagged us in a video on Instagram. It was a close up a woman speaking with what could have been a german voice speaking over her. Another member of the board here can testify this happened because they then deleted that post!! So there's one mystery for to save for later.

We got the TIFF around 1pm which I think was about the time BMC tweeted about asking questions in person at the Lab, they welcome questions.

We signed up for the Cronenberg tour (tour is free) and found out we were the only ones who'd be touring. Our lovely guide Jessica arrived in a BMC lab coat and told us about the theme of the exhibit then said afterwards she'd take us up to the lab and sign us up for PODs. We said we'd already signed up and had done sim 1. She looked surprised and happy so I don't think anyone has done the who's already done the sim had come by yet. (Score 1 point for us! Wink )

The tour was really interesting, each section has it's own tour guide inside. You can even get 3 free photos with a Muggwump at the bar. There's a room in the middle of the exhibit that has tvs all over the walls where they show slides and interviews from Cronenberg's career. Between loops it plays the red dot that is KAY from the simulation.

Once we were done we took the elevator to the 4th floor where the lab is. The reception desk is decked out like it's CIVIC TV so that's really neat.

Here's the best part:
You walk into the lab there's a large mural that depicts the timeline of biomedical innovations, sort of ending with 2013 and POD. There was a woman lab tech, in the lab coat with the lapel clip that said BMC Labs, there to greet us. She asked if we'd been through the exhibit downstairs and we said yes. She explained about POD being a personal on demand organism and we said we had already signed up and were here to see the PODs. She looked very happy and surprised. She then showed us 2 sample PODs which we got to hold! They were small and white and very lightweight. Adorable even in a creepy, disturbing way. I asked how people who can't make it to the lab can get their PODs and she said there will probably be a mailing service where you just pay shipping. She also said the next 2 sims will be up sometime this month.

We asked if photos were allowed and she said yes, but only in the lab, not in the virtual exhibit which is just beyond the lab. So we took photos!

There are walls of jars hanging from shelves. Only about 1/4 of them had PODs in them since they're just starting to "grow" them. Each jar is lit with a light in the lid and the lights change colour from yellow to blue to pink. The lighting is just unbelievable in there.

The tech pointed out the 3D printing that was "birthing" a new pod right then. We could see a new POD taking shape, but very slowly.

A few other people came in then (it was just us and the tech at the time) so when she left to greet the new people we did the "You do it" "No, you asks her" game. Finally we went over when se was free and asked "So how is BMC Labs being socially positive?" Her face dropped and she turned and went to the front desk. She came back and said "I think we live in overstimulated times" and handed us an envelope with our "special names" on it (and the strip of paper which she wrote her line down on)

Then she walked away! So we rushed to a quiet spot to open the envelope. In it was this:

Last week APB_art did this illustration for fun of the POD. BMC retweeted it and put it on their Facebook page. They gave it back to us with a cigarette burn through the heart on the page. So, yeah. WTF.

We then noticed a bank of 3 videos that were showing what looked like security footage. We asked the tech and she said we would definitely be interested in those. Can anyone say CLUE?! We spent an hour looking at them but we had no idea what we were looking for. You can only look at one "live" camera at a time. There's a toggle switch and a control stick that allows you to rotate the camera around and up and down. The first screen seems to be inside a big multi storied building. There's only a few people walking around. No text, no numbers, no faces. Camera 2 seemed to be an atrium or the front of the building. Again, no text, no faces, no numbers, no one. It seems totally empty. There is this shape on the ground that was bothering me, it seems really out of place, but I can't figure out what it is. Camera 3 looks like it's in an alley. It's hard to tell what's there but you can see a bank of windows and the over head lights inside seem to be flashing. Doesn't really look like the camera quality is affecting the image, the lights look like they're flashing. There also could be a figure standing there under the lights but I could just be matrixing it. We posted these videos and photos on Instagram: http://instagram.com/leighyoungart
http://instagram.com/apb_art He has more photos of the lab there too.

The lab tech said we were the first people to actually sit and play with the cameras like we knew what they were for. Our only guesses are that the company logo on the footage "BUBL" is working with Cronenberg so to look out for security camera footage in the future. Or maybe in a few weeks something will change in the footage? I just don't know.

Meanwhile BMC had been DMing us encouraging us in different ways to get us to ask the techs the "socially positive" question.

We gave up and chatted with the the lab tech, and a new tech who just started her shift, for a while. They were HIGHLY amused with us and wanted to know everything about this game we're trying to play. After chatting for a bit I DMed BMC to say we got their message. They then asked us if we both had an envelope in our possession. I said no, just the one. To which they replied:

Say what?! So we tweeted photos of us getting the envelope and us opening the envelope. The techs searched their desk and couldn't find anything else for us (they were totally loving this). After this, silence. We haven't heard anything else from them. Just a short "We're glad you enjoyed your visit" and "You'll have to learn to live in a strange new world".

If you can go, GO TO THE LAB! It's free. You don't have to buy admission to anything. Look at the cameras! Maybe someone else can spot something we missed. Oh, and you can try on BMC lab coats and get your photo taken in them!

This is amazing, and to use an overused saying, $(*! just got real. They are watching us and interacting with us.

Great update. It was really good to see that, so I know how to prep before my visit. I'll make sure I Tweet BMC prior to my visit to see if anything else can be learned. I'm still not sure when I am going to visit though.

Yes! Tell them your excited to go and hint at when. Something crazy might happen to you too!

I don't know how they work their volunteer shifts there but word might get around about all of this and people will be excited to help you if they know you're playing.

Very, very cool. Thanks for the excellent writeup. I so wish there were a way for me get to visit the TIFF.

The blinking lights in the one security video just begs to be a pattern of some sort.

I am kicking myself for not recording it. At first it looks like just a bad connection and a poor quality camera feed. But then it looks like the light hanging from the ceiling are all blinking on and off. Could be me imagining things, could be legit. Someone else has to go to see if for themselves so we can have a second opinion.

We live about 30 minutes outside Toronto so we're hoping to go back to the city and pop into the lab, see if anything has changed.

Just got this email:

Dear POD Enthusiast,

Thank you for participating in BODY/MIND/CHANGE. We are pleased to share a number of developments that have come about as a result of your participation. BMC Labs is now open to the public at TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. You can come visit and inquire about your unique POD's progress in person. Your performance in Simulation 1 has caused your POD to grow by 27%. But due to Kay's inconsistent learning it is critical that there be a period of "reflection" and processing to minimize error. Rest assured David is very pleased with your progress and so are we.

Simulation 2 will commence next week and we hope you are ready to continue Kay's education so that your POD may advance to its next crucial growth stage.

A small percentage of you have proven yourselves worthy. You know who you are, and we're pleased to announce that you have now officially joined the ranks of a premiere host. We will be in contact soon to help you reach the next stage of your premiere POD's evolution.

Remember, POD wants to know you.

Sincerely,

BMC Labs Management

To anyone who is part of the select group, care to elaborate?

Mine was the same as well. Perhaps Leighy is one of the premiere hosts.

If visiting the exhibit bumps you up, I really need to visit it soon.

My immediate thought was that people who got High Trust ranking in sim #1 are premiere hosts. I got Moderate Disgust, so I am not a premiere host Laughing
And there's no way for me to visit the exhibit.
