 		Well he also states he "must have" gotten up at some point, put the camera on the tripod and gotten into bed. There's no footage of that, and he doesn't remember it, so I don't think its a stretch of the imagination to say he stashed something else in the safe while arranging the camera - possibly thinking on reflex "oh I should put in a fresh tape". He probably woke up dazed, thinking "huh? Asleep? Uh oh is there footage of what happened, because I don't remember. Camera.. ok here. Too tired right now. Hide footage to check in morning. Mount camera. Bed. Zzz".

 		Remember he also had to edit 52 to add the annotated ending where he spots Tim. Stuff happens off-camera, too. Maybe 52 ended on one tape and 27 began right away at the beginning of another.

 		Not the point. The tape on which 52 ended was still recording when TO attacked him, so someone still had to take it out and put 27 in.

Let me reiterate: it's a basic continuity error-- they happen all the time in every form of media.

That said, I don't think everything in Season 2 was meant to be fully understood-- it's definitely the most esoteric season of the show.

He lost his memory after getting up and into bed. Hence why he didnt remember doing it
