That sort of begs the question, "how is Nightingale connected to Spider Research, if he is able to get something like that on their homepage?"

Something I noticed the other day, which seemed odd, but not odd enough to really mention, is now bugging be enough to post. Perhaps it is unconnected or wild speculation, but I found it interesting that one of the people listed on the email form is Norton Ingale, which shares a common ending with Nightingale.

I had no idea what an "experience economy" was, but here is a good book on the topic:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0875848192/inktomi-bkasin-20/ref%3Dnosim/002-4810690-5556867

taken from review:
The Experience Economy, the authors argue that the service economy is about to be superseded with something that critics will find even more ephemeral (and controversial) than services ever were: experiences. In part because of technology and the increasing expectations of consumers, services today are starting to look like commodities. The authors write that "Those businesses that relegate themselves to the diminishing world of goods and services will be rendered irrelevant. To avoid this fate, you must learn to stage a rich, compelling experience."

there is also a survey here:
http://www.spiderresearch.com/experience.html

I had to turn off my popup block to get it (click on the S40 car on the home page).

barcodes and questions

Is the barcode currently found on

http://home.graffiti.net/thenightingale:graffiti.net/

just a larger version of the original one?

Why are these guys so into barcodes? Because barcodes are another way of tracking what people buy?

Gotta love their metatags:

Code:
<meta name="keywords" content="marketing, manipulation, experience economy, branding, technology, iron cage">

From both the main page and the survey.

Sort of:
* The aspect ratios between narrow elements and wide elements is a little more distinct in the large version. (Also, for a scanner to read the small version, you'd have to blow up the image, and image manipulation programs interpolate pixels when enlarging. That can easily hork the process).
* The black bars on the left/right that we assumed to be margins (like the black bars at the top and bottom) are now clearly NOT margins, but bars.
* The lack of margins now makes it pretty obvious whether or not the image needs to be inverted (it doesn't).

"hork" turns out to be a useful word that I hadn't encountered before.

His meaning is obviously
Quote:
Messed up in some way. Wedged.

which is the third definition found to be found at http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hork.

For what it's worth, Eisenstahl is german for "Iron Steel"

New post in Robin's log http://nightingalejournal.blogspot.com/
Quote:
Monday, April 5

I met him‭. ‬I took one of thoose long nightly walks through the suburbs tonight‭. ‬Damn he seems to know alot about me‭. ‬When I passed the small park between the hospital and the parking house I heard a strange sound from the top of the building‭. ‬I usually sit there‭ - ‬on the edge of the roof‭ - ‬thinking about who I am‭, ‬and why‭. ‬So I climbed‭. ‬Intrigued but excited‭, ‬I thought this was my rooftop‭! ‬And there he was‭. ‬Humming on a strange melody‭. ‬I knew It was the Nightingale the moment I saw him‭.‬

Sunglasses during nighttime‭. ‬Like in some fuckin‭' ‬movie thriller‭. ‬And a hat‭. ‬I approached him‭.‬

I can't remember the conversation‭, ‬but I ended up with a deal‭.‬

This job will be an easy one‭. ‬And with good reasons‭. ‬But I have a feeling of that I'm fighting a tentacle here‭. ‬There is something else behind‭, ‬beyond‭, ‬beneath‭. ‬Something worse‭.‬

I thought the survey on http://spiderresearch.com/index.html was kind of odd from a marketing point of view.

Why include the following questions:
Have you been unfaithful during the past three years?
Do you use the Internet to satisfy sexual needs?
Have you got a television set?
Who has most credibility? George W Bush or Donald Duck

I mean what kind of new information about a customer or a market, that is intresting from a marketing point of view, whould you get from those questions ?

And are they really giving away a brand new Volvo. I don't think so.
The volvo is worth more than 19 000 Euros.
To be giving away such a expensive thing you would expect a lot more from the survey.

Obs-ervation

If it is a game launch, it's kinda neat - cryptic posts lead to real world induction into the game through the spiderresearch team at the K1 exhibition.

On the homepage now:

Could be the same type of hint from Metacortex saying don't hack, we'll get around to the game soon. Or is it part of the game?
