Report from the Houston search Here's the pictures I promised. Sorry I didn't get a chance to do them yesterday. Sorry about the quality, I took most of them on my smartphone and we were getting strange looks from other library patrons.
My wife, finding "the book" on the shelf.
The cover of "the book".
Aha! A card! (Blurred to keep authentication with the keeper of the hunt private.)
If you look closely, you can see that the card is taped into the book; it was taped face-up. That's not really cool; I wish they'd used some other method to affix the card (like something gummy on a corner of the card and shoved into the spine).
The caption for illustration 201.
A detail shot of the back of the card (taken in our kitchen), so you can see if the card you find matches the same deck (assuming they are all from the same deck).

Number 42 which is the package at the coordinates 39.59256 -86.06570 is fairly close to where I am, and I will see if I can get a hold on it. I am worried however as the location seems to be a bush of the side of the road on a major roadway. Oh well wish me luck!

I got a response to a question from the master of the hunt in response to my picture of the card I retrieved from the Houston Public Library:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
> There's no severed body parts in the package, is there?
No severed body parts.
That's a relief, at least.

I've not heard anything back since that email. Has anyone else retrieved a card from somewhere (or even looked)?
We didn't look for one this weekend. It just didn't work out, and the weather was disturbed in Texas and across Louisiana, anyway, so our nearby (even for extremely broad definitions of "nearby") coordinates weren't available to us, mainly because my wife is of a mind that given no end date or idea what's in the package it's sort of silly to go that far afield to look for cards. I have to admit that my curiosity is piqued, but I have to agree with her a bit.

I heard back from a friend in Vegas who said unless the card was under a rock, which he checked, it would have been blown away by the desert winds. I will be on the road this weekend and will try and check a couple more locations. Hopefully it will not have ended by the time I find a card.

Did someone get the card from Colorado Springs? I received an email from a co-worker yesterday and saw in her signature that she was in Colorado Springs so I asked if she knew the Bijou St. location. She knew it well and had a great relationship with the management so they looked very thoroughly, even looking behind pictures on the wall, and could not find a card. Did someone here already find it?

I found a couple cards!! So while I was out looking for people in Brazil for "Ascend Today" I figured I would see who might be able to help find cards across the US too. I've put out a lot of feelers and so far have found cards in Kentucky and a couple locations in north Florida. None of the cards have been a face card and I don't have any winning combinations but I'm finally making some progress. Hopefully it's not too late.

Excellent! We haven't looked for any more cards, and I won't be able to this weekend because I'm on-call for work. At this point, I just want to know what's in the box. Heh!

5 card hand submitted Well after a week of coordinating I finally found a hand of 5 cards and submitted them. I also found out why there are only 50 locations and not 52 - two of the locations had 2 cards at them instead of just 1. I'm crossing my fingers in the hope that it's not too late and that no one else submitted a stronger hand.

Well I've heard nothing from the organizers of this in response to my submission but I did hear back from someone else that located a card and submitted it. It turns out that Chamberlains is actually Chamblins in Jacksonville, FL. The other card that was submitted was the Queen of Hearts and it was the one under a table. That person did not have much time to search for the other Chamberlains card but will return later to check again.
The Chamblins clue and also the Rawr and Craigslist clues, as well as one of the gmail addresses, points this to the same group that did a game earlier this year as mentioned by Greystone and talked about here - http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36953.
I have attached a picture of the Google map I created for this with tear drops representing GPS coordinate clues and the push pins representing addresses. Green locations have been found. Yellow locations are where I had someone say they would go last week but did not hear back from them. Red are where multiple searches have turned up nothing and blue is where I have not checked at all. Here is a link to the Google map also - http://goo.gl/maps/qKYBV
All the cards that I have found at GPS coordinates have been inside empty water bottles as shown in the other picture below. If anyone wants to go look at the blue or yellow locations for the other cards maybe we can finish this thing off. I'm hoping that the organizers are awaiting more cards to be returned before ending this and not that they have abandoned it.

We decided against doing the Austin drop this weekend. Even Hey Cupcake! didn't convince her otherwise, but we have stuff to do before the work week. We may go next weekend if this is still going on then and no one had claimed it.
I saw a post about this on Twitter retweeted by Rowan about an hour ago
... Considering this post is about a month old... Is there any point to going to the location in Austin?

GirlInFocus - A card was found in a cafe yesterday still taped under a table surrounded by patrons so I would say there is a good chance it is still in Austin. I was at another restaurant when they opened and the card was under a table there too. I'm not sure if it is also taped under a table in Austin but that might be a good place to start.

We never went to claim it. My wife sort of lost interest in the "quest," and we're leaving on vacation soon so there won't be any side jaunts for us.

I too saw Rowan's retweet and will be relatively close to both the Chicago and the St. Louis location this week. Is there any additional info beyond the GPS coordinates?

Okay, I'm back on my normal account. If it's a card in a plastic bottle it may have been thrown away... Or washed away in our recent torrential rains.
But I was looking for an excuse to hack Ingress Portals downtown today anyway.
