ARG as my college thesis project

Hello, everyone. My name is Jason, and I'm a graphic design student at the State University of New York at New Paltz. For my senior thesis project, I decided to create an alternate reality game. I've been given two semesters to work on this project, and I'll be entering my second semester soon. The first semester was mostly a planning phase, but I'm starting to produce more content now.

I really love science fiction and interactive story telling, so I hope that my project reflects that. I've never created an alternate reality game before, but it certainly is a challenge. The game launched in November and the audience thus far have mostly been the other college students, many of whom have never participated in an alternate reality game before. As a result, I've been keeping the puzzles and clues simple so that they can follow along a little better.

I've been happy with having a little group of college students participating in my project, but I thought I would share it with the unfiction forum as well. Rather than giving away the details of what's been happening, I thought I would show you all how I initiated the trailhead.

I made a 22-foot sign and got permission from the college to place it on the campus lawn for a week.

I also printed 500 flyers to post around the graphic design building.

In December, all of the thesis students had to give a four-minute speech about our projects. I hired an actor to barge into the room and interrupt my presentation. The actor was playing the role of a character from a secret organization that exists within the fiction.
