My own fire & water theory.

Right, while this has been said before, I'll repeat it for anyone who doesn't know. Marble Hornets is heavily connected to fire and water themes.

What I've noticed recently is that there's a slight pattern-- just slight.

In entries such as Entry 17, the tape would freeze as soon as Tim drank water. Many areas in which T.O. appear are water-related (sewers, maintenance tunnels, etc.), and his preferred method of torture involves water. In Entry 41, Jay's camera cuts out as soon as it focuses in on a nearby stream. Hoodie is also seen merely moments later. In relation to Hoodie, TTA often films lakes, ponds, and generally water in his videos-- which fits his name, involving the word "ark" which is something that floats on water. The tunnel in Rosswood Park can be seen filled with water in TTA's 'Display'. In Entry 44, as soon as Alex finishes rinsing his mouth with water, not only does the video cut out, but he is hypnotized, drawing Operator symbols, and T.O. himself appears moments after the video resumes. In Entry 16, video/audio distortion begins exactly after Jay picks up a water bottle (as well as coughing). In Entry 22, three seconds after the camera sees water at 3:07 and immediately after the camera focuses in on a pipe, audio distortion gets louder.

Sure-- water is a big part of daily life, but you can't deny that almost every time a camera interacts with water, there's distortion and shit about to go down very shortly after. The implication that I'm getting at is simply that water seems to strengthen and/or summon T.O, because in almost every situation which water is used or even nearby, T.O. manages to create damage. While I haven't found much to support that The Operator is strengthened or weakened by fire, it's just something interesting I've noticed. He likes water-- what else?

Sorry, but TO is attracted to flammable objects. Troseph said so in an interview.

I feel like that's kind of a misnomer. Season 1 had barely established anything about the Operator. Slender Man though liked to burn down places on the Something Awful forums; they literally asked Troseph in that radio interview following Season 1 "What would be the Operator's ideal date?" Troy mentioned an abandoned place in the woods saying "And no lighting, completely dark."

Then Joseph interjects "But he does like fire," and Troy is like "Oh yeah" cause Slender Man likes fire and like I say, it's not like the Operator was very well developed, nor was any aspect of Marble Hornet's plot at all, and then Troy and Joseph laugh basically.

Troseph did not confirm that the Operator is attracted to flammable objects in an interview. They referenced, essentially, that Slender Man liked to burn stuff, which we already knew, as a joke. Probably, he burned down Jay's apartment. He probably also burned Tim's hospital since the fire started in his room. Because he's based on Slender Man, so something mysteriously burning down in Marble Hornets is probably him.

There are counterarguments. Entry ###### hints that totheark is coming for Jay right before his house burns down. It's unlikely this was a murder attempt in this case, since the video also says Jay will lead him to the ark, but rather a way to force Jay to stay on the road, and in the game. Mind you, this itself can split depending on if you think Hoody made that video, of Tim himself in this Masky state.

And it could have been Alex, since it also burned all of Jay's tapes; he wanted to burn the tapes. Plus he's evil as fuck. But like, it was probably still the Operator, all things considered.

I don't think the water bottles mean much, except finding one in Brian's house, and Hoody having one in 68, both probably symbolize totheark's not just there, he's living there. But I think the totheark water references also reference drowning a lot, and floods a lot, the latter of which obviously references the ark, whatever it is. As for the drowning though, we see Tim being drowned, seemingly by the Operator, in 65. So I suspect it's some kind of common tactic for him. Hoody filming water connects to this.

People tend to see vague sort of water motives and vague sort of fire motives and are like "They must be connected, he must like one and dislike the other!" But why does like literally everyone seem to think it has to be like that? Why can't it just be he likes to burn down shit and he likes to drown people? Or something else besides that that doesn't have to do with some weird water/fire binary? I never got that at all.
