Same here. Minus the "first time" part.

That's the first time I've laughed at a post in awhile.

So, sadly, I am for the first time anticipating that I may be disappointed by the ending of MH. Without so much as an unspoilery screenshot on the first of May, I can't really truthfully anticipate an ending that answers all the questions I wish to have answered. At most, there will probably be 2 more Entries - most likely a final confrontation and then an "outro" - which would most certainly basically fail to explain the motives of Alex, TO and TTA. Without any explanation of the motives of our villains, the suspense of the series is thrown to the wind, and we've all wasted our time. The whole series is then basically reduced to jump scares and a generally uneasy fear of the unknown that never properly manifests as a threat. Without a motive to continue being chilled by after the series' conclusion, TO and the entire MH plot are reduced to a "fear of the unknown" aka the "fear of an impending jump scare" - hence why many of us claim to be desensatized to it. We no longer fear what the Operator will do to our beloved characters; we merely fear that he might show up. We've learned that once he shows up, we can pretty much relax. The scene falls apart, the person filming escapes and remembers none of it. MH has basically become a cliche of itself; a trope within a trope. Maybe, HOPEFULLY, they can salvage this flying-by-the-seat-of-its-pants suspense story with a thought-provoking conclusion... otherwise its most vocal and intelligent supporters will turn against it, ala Lost.

I say this mostly because I saw that Troy had said the series will probably end in June, and judging by their release schedule thus far, that's gonna be 2 more videos, 3 if we're really, REALLY lucky. And on their podcast, they sound very bored with and 'over' MH, and have stated they already know how it ends.

I will watch and enjoy the finale no doubt, but I'm starting to worry about Trosephim's future. They clearly don't seem to realize the the THAC channel would not have any popularity at all if not for MH's success. If they don't stick the landing on MH and finish strong, their careers might be over before they properly begin.

Man, you're getting too apocalyptic this early in the morning (where I am--7:2 3 as I write). Their production's been held up because their part of the South's gotten slammed with some brutal storms. They can't finish work on the next entry. So it'll probably go on a bit past June.

I'm unsure whether the scenario you outline in your opening paragraph is what you're saying the series has already devolved into or that you fear it will with the ending. I don't see how the series is a "trope within a trope." (Rather, I can see why the argument may be made--I just don't agree.)

I'm anticipating that the ending will startle and annoy us now but age pretty well. But then, I'm having faith that they're not "bored" with MH but rather are trying to be sure that they don't fuck it up. I wouldn't worry about the trio's future until they deliver or don't.

Yes. It was an indirect typo.

While it can be inferred that the storm has delayed MH, it would be nice if they confirmed it publicly. We've had absolutely no updates as to how Entry #85 is coming along and it's been a month now.

I'm also fearing that MH will not have a good ending. Here's some things I feel still need to be covered:

That damn three-floored hospital near the annex. Why is it part of the story, what's up with its spooky basement, why have they mentioned the roof more than once but never shown it? It's looking more likely that this building will end up just being nothing more than a cool place that Tim wanted to show Alex, which led to him finding the more sinister annex nearby.

Where are Sarah and Seth? How did Sarah get taken? We're probably just going to get shown their corpses. Not too bad a deal for Seth since we saw how he got taken (although that raised questions in itself of why that basement's so special) but Sarah could end up being a truly insignificant character.

What happened to Amy? How does Alex know her? Does he really want to save her? If we get no more backstory for her and it turns out that she's either eternally missing or dead and we get an implication that Alex was working with TO in hopes of seeing her again, I will not be satisfied. A character not fleshed out at all and only there to serve as someone for Alex to want to save.

What happened to Jessica after Entry #76? If she's dead, that was one shitty death and made her role pointless.

What happened to Brian after Entry #83? If he's dead, that was one shitty death, although at least he got to be an omnipotent ninja for a good chunk of the series.

I don't expect any motivations explained for TO, nor do I want them. The issue with TO is how they handled his scare factor. He went from a creepy observer driving people to paranoia to a thing that constantly teleports in front of people and makes jumpscare distortion sounds. People also constantly get away from him and just forget whatever harrowing events happen to them, which takes away his scare factor.

Alex I would like some motivation for. I have a pretty good idea of what it might be, as Entry #82 showed TO was able to change Jay's behaviour in a similar fashion and it can be assumed Amy probably ties into Alex's motivation. But we could do with a little bit more to chew on, preferably in the form of some old footage.

Now... does it feel like all that can fit into two entries? I don't think so. I'll acknowledge the series isn't necessarily completely doomed, maybe they'll miraculously pull it off somehow. But there's reason to worry. There's been ample opportunity to show stuff like this but it was given up in favour of things like Alex walking around the Entry #4 park again or Tim crawling through sewer tunnels. Also Entry #84 has made a lot of the series worse in hindsight for me, as will #76 if Jessica ends up being dead, so the ending has a lot to make up for.

I've been a lurker for a while but I joined specifically to point out that they HAVE confirmed this publicly. Troy posted on the Marble Hornets Facebook page that the next entry has been delayed due to the recent weather and that Joseph and Tim (at that time at least) were sitting in their house with no power and with a tree having fallen into their carport.[/quote]

Also, Tim tweeted about this.

One thing that has been annoying is the length it's taken for the last few entries.

Entry 80 6th December

Entry 81 9th January

Entry 82 6th February

Entry 83 9th March (this was an amazing entry that would have been hard to make, so fair enough)

Entry 84 1st April

Entry 85 ??? May (though there have been storms so it's ok)

Also they said the last entry would be before 20 June. Back when entry 80 was posted I would have thought it would end on maybe Entry 90, which would hopefully answer many questions. Though it would appear it will be ending on Entry 86 (maybe 87). and I doubt important questions will be answered. I know I sound like a whiny bitch Laughing , but If I had a YouTube series that I had been doing for the past 5 years, and had over 370,000 subscribers, I'd make sure the ending didn't leave people annoyed. However, these are all assumptions, so I guess and really hope that the ending is good. Also if Tim dies, it, although could happen and honestly wouldn't make it a bad ending, would be pretty weird because then the entire story would be : Jay finds tapes, he watches them, he does his own investigation, he brings back TO, and causes many people to die, and in the end, everyone dies Razz .

I'm betting on 87. Even if 86 is longer than usual youtube won't allow enough space for a decent ending in one entry.

Not the best place to post about it then. To my knowledge there isn't an official MH page and if there is I can't find it, I only know the unofficial one. Hell I couldn't even find that announcement you just mentioned. I did know about Tim's tweets though.

There is no longer a time limit on Youtube videos, unless the channel has yet to be approved.

What are you talking about? They could make it two hours long if they wanted to. YouTube only applies arbitrary time limits on people who have flagged accounts.

Okay, can someone tell me when and where exactly they said MH would be finished in June? Because the only time I ever heard them say anything like that was during the podcast, and they were joking around at the time.

In fact, the only projection (from them) that I've heard about how much longer MH will last was this: they had just attended a con (I forget which one it was) and said that MH would most likely end before the next time it rolled around.

And since I'm asking questions, who decided there would only be 2-3 more entries? Trosephim specifically said they wouldn't disclose that ahead of time, so where is that number coming from?

Thank ya, I didn't know about this particular one and the fact it's only listed under Joseph's likes and not Troy's or Tim's didn't help.

It was only during the podcast I believe. However, it was only joking in the regard that they said it was regrettable that the first entry wasn't posted on the anniversary of Sonic Adventure 2. When Tim pointed out how long the series would be going if it lasted to the next anniversary, Troy said he doubts it'd be still be going by that point and definitely seemed serious.

The 2-3 entries estimate comes from the assumption that Troy wasn't forgetting the MH update schedule when he claimed the series would probably end before the next anniversary. Given that it's unfortunately been custom for an entry to take a month or just under/over a month to come out recently, that timeframe only leaves room for 2 entries. I highly doubt they'd fit 3 into that timeframe.
