There were theories for a while Alex was working for the Operator to get Amy back. Imagine that but with Rocky. Alex comes busting in: "GIVE ME BACK MY DOG! Oh also Amy I guess."

And it's all Jay's fault because he was supposed to watch Rocky during an extended shoot. The Operator came around and took the dog and wiped Jay's memory. Alex didn't believe that Jay didn't remember what happened, and started filming everything, hoping to find evidence that Jay did something horrible to Rocky. The paper he crinkled up and threw all over the place were early drafts of Lost Dog leaflets. And it all went downhill from there.

Edit: Rocky's name is now ToTheBark.
