Any thoughts on what the "vert" prefix means? "Thum" is pretty obviously "thumbnail(s)," but that "vert" is bugging me. I doubt it is "vertical," since the thumbnails seem to progress horizontally.

vert is "green" in French. Green Thumb? Are we looking for gardening websites Confused

Movie clip

Anyone notice that is is not long enough to be a movie that it is a short clip of a movie, meaning that it could be odd clips that would not normally fit into a though of a movie that we have seen.

I just had a chat with Clifford about the disk.

Dashcat7: Hello Clifford
CliffordWorly: Hello.
Dashcat7: I just wanted you to know we are still working on the disk
CliffordWorly: Why?
Dashcat7: Because Enaxor is having a hard time finding a restore program that works on her computer
CliffordWorly: The report is right there. Don't one of you know about those things?
CliffordWorly: Oh..
CliffordWorly: The report was deleted?

Dashcat7: It isn't right there
Dashcat7: It must have been deleted
Dashcat7: What is the file name? Do you remember?
CliffordWorly: Yes..
CliffordWorly: GA99Jude.ps.Z
CliffordWorly is idle at 12:45:35 PM.
CliffordWorly is no longer idle at 12:46:19 PM.

Dashcat7: But that is just a report by David Goldberg
CliffordWorly: *nods*
CliffordWorly: Yes.
CliffordWorly: It's what I based ToBI off of.

Dashcat7: That is your blueprint?
CliffordWorly: Yes.
CliffordWorly: What did you think it was?

Dashcat7: But anyone could have used this work...it's in the public domain
Dashcat7: Well I thought it was YOUR blueprint...some work done by you that they stole
CliffordWorly: It is.
CliffordWorly: I need to get going. I'll explain more at the chat.
CliffordWorly signed off at 12:50:10 PM.

Dashcat7: What part of this report belongs to you?

Vertigo

"In Scottie's dream, Hitchcock splashes the screen with saturated colors that represent the conflicting psychological forces at war within Scottie, bombarding him (and us) with splashes of pure color and emotion: blue (guilt), red (caution, danger), green (Madeleine, romance, illusion), purple (Judy), yellow (Midge)."

Oooo, the blood red restaurant shown with the woman in the green dress looks like some of the frames around line 18

*EDIT* - I sent the pic to my husband's work this morning to see if anyone there recognized it. I just checked my email and they said they think it's Vertigo. (I didn't tell them that someone had mentioned it here. Do you work with my husband, gypsychk? Laughing )

Sometimes all you have to do is ask ...

Not that I know of, but I suppose it's possible!

Actually, I came up with the increndibly inventive google search of: film scenes in purple blue green ... Vertigo jumped out at me, because of the VertThum title to the jpg, and because that title came up in chat earlier today.

As it turns out, krysbabe asked Marcus about it, and he told her it's Vertigo, and that they had been trying to "make the movie more High-tech" (?) I think she said she'd post the chat later, and I don't know more than that. Personally, I've always thought that Vertigo needed more light sabres and such ... too bad they were kicked out before they finished updating the film.

Chat with Clifford

I had a chat with Clifford Worly. It appears he didn't look at the disk before giving it to Enaxor.

Deneb: I'm analyzing some of the data that was on the disk.
Apparently Jude zipped some files.
cliffordworly: Really?
cliffordworly: I didn't know that. I just assumed it was the one file.

Deneb: Yup. there were a few pictures of you and what appears to
be the frames of a movie. Your research was there as well.
cliffordworly: Of me?
cliffordworly: Strange.
cliffordworly: I'm rather camera shy.

Deneb: the Jpg is titled with your name.. And it looks
similar to the pic of you on Amboy. did you attend a concom convention?
cliffordworly: Concom?
Deneb: another Jpg is titled concom. It is a pic of you and a
group of colleagues or friends.
cliffordworly: No idea. Although, I was ... .
cliffordworly: Actually...
cliffordworly: Yes.
cliffordworly: I was part of a convention committee. We called
ourselves Concom. It was for the Programming Science Fair of 1996.
cliffordworly: I wasn't aware the kids were there.

Deneb: There is also a pic titled Hubahuba. A woman.
cliffordworly: I only know about the report.
cliffordworly: hehe.. I know of no woman named Huba Huba. Smile

Deneb: me either, but She was quite a looker
cliffordworly: Send me the picture when you can. Smile
Deneb: here you go.
cliffordworly: Thanks. I'll look at it when I get home.
Deneb: I'm suprised you didn't look a the files before you gave the
disk to enaxor..

Good thinking Deneb. It didn't occur to me that he didn't know about those other files on the disk.

Just to let everyone know. Several people tried to help me undelete files on the disk, with no luck. AnthraX101 was in chat this morning and I asked him to have a crack at it. So I have sent the disk off the Anthrax, he should have it in a couple of days.

Thanks Anthrax101, Bill and everybody for your help. Very Happy

A bit late to reply, but I just found the game today. Very Happy

I'm currently taking a class in computer forensics, and we've been doing quite a bit of work with taking disk images and recovering deleted files. Anthrax101, if you want to send me a dd image of the disk when you get it, I'd be happy to take a crack at it as well!

Back to catching up in the forums...

I got the disk today and took a quick look at it. There isn't much remarkable about the disk, it is a FAT12 filesystem, and judging from the error messages it was formated on an NT based system. There is no volume label. The zip ends at sector 1402, and there doesn't appear to be anything hidden in the slack space (all 0x00), the final bytes match up to the .zip itself. Sectors 1403-1439 are filled with 0xF6, as expected.

I have a test in an hour, so I can't make a raw copy ATM, but I will make one tonight.

AnthraX101

EDIT: Forgot to mention, there is one deleted file, probably VertThum.jpg. The filesizes are identical. It appears to be "under" the new one, so is irrecoverable.

This is a standard string placed there by a particular Photoshop plugin.

Which one, I'm not sure...
