And with that, I have a solution. This solution has new monsters and antagonists, and was created with the same mindset of "Wow the Slender Man is BORING" you're feeling now. It's been accepting, kind, and considerate to all newcomers, and there hasn't been a smidgen of drama yet. It has about 500 people contributing to its vast work of stories, all focusing on mankind's greatest fears manifesting themselves in a physical form, to terrorize the living, embrace the dead, and strike horror into us all. What is this, you may ask?

The Fear Mythos.

The Fear Mythos is an Open-Source collection of stories spread across countless audio plays, blogs, creepypasta, forums, games, role-playing sites, universes, and vlogs, featuring a colorful cast of powerful, creepy creatures known as Fears. Fears represent what makes mankind cower in the night, with primal examples being the Fear of the Unknown, the Fear of Disease, the Fear of Control, and the Fear of the Afterlife.

Anyone can create new Fears under over 30 concepts, use the existing characters in their stories, or add entirely new concepts, with brand-new Fears! Remember, Fears are what interests and / or scares you. You can use the Fears in any genre you can think of, which is entirely up to you! If you don't like an idea presented in one of the "vanilla" Fear concepts, take out a few details, add a few more, or create something that strikes Fear into you and you alone! Just create what you like, with the characters you want, and most importantly, have fun!

(To the newcomers of the Mythos, PLEASE don't hate it because of Pavel Hall, because that's the most famous Fearvlog, and some people have gathered opinions on it that I do not condone or agree with. If you do not like the series, fine, but don't judge the Mythos on it.)

I think that's a great idea--that being said, I'm personally growing a little tired of creepypasta--but that's purely for my own reasons (doom and gloom all the time wears on me a bit, I guess. I just like hope in my stories, that's all).

But I think the idea of creating an entire legion of internet bonfire stories is awesome. I really hope spooky internet stories can gain a better reputation, and hopefully, new horror writers and directors come forth from that. Go with it, my friend![/quote]

I think it already has...

Technically not quite yet...

Disagree on the stabbings. While undoubtedly an awful incident, the victim has moved past it. I also don't see any indication of people enjoying Slenderman any less for it(although in retrospect Entry #86 probably should've been rewritten and shot rather than just delayed). The problem is that there's so little Slenderman there to enjoy in the first place. So I'd say you're mostly right. And of course Marble Hornets ending is another big factor.

I can't see why. They delayed it a prudent enough amount of time. Eighty-six was one of the best entries in the series. No need to rewrite and reshoot because some stupid kids are stupid. Hopefully the stupid ones have been weeded out and will spend long, long stretches in detention.

Maybe that's because about 95% of them aren't even the high-grade, top-shelf bullshit that could be the fertilizer for better stories; they're mainly just bullshit. I'm exaggerating with the percentage, but a lot of them break the unwritten creative writing code about "showing, not telling" in your stories--thus making them more like essays. And some just aren't creepy. And many just aren't that creative--though there are some standout attempts. There WERE a few very good efforts of late, though. Pretty good, if long, one told almost completely in texts and emails at a middle school called "Teacher Wanted, Must Love Children." Not much hope in that one, though I personally think hope in art's overrated--but, again, that's just me.

Must agree on the internet bonfire stories idea.

I feel the same way. The Slender Man mythos is running out of steam, and since Marble Hornets finished, and the other four "big" series are on hiatus, plus the over-saturation of bad, low-quality series, I think some people are getting tired of Slendy. Adam Rosner himself encouraged newcomers to not use Slendy and come up with their own monster.

I'm sorry but I disagree on the 'bad, low-quality series' front. I can name several series that are not part of the Big Four that should get a hell of a lot more credit than they do. People should stop looking for the next Marble Hornets and instead look for something new.

I'm not sure if it's dying, but there's certainly a departure. The MH boys will be back for another series but there won't be any Operator. Slendy hasn't been seen in an EMH video in well over a year and TT have put a lot of coverage on Firebrand and Observer rather than Slendy. I think people have been moving away from Slenderman ever since he gathered any popularity, even prior to Slender, the stabbings and others. Note how every notable series out there uses more than just slendy as the bad guy to tell it's story. MH had totheark and Mask bros. EMH had the Rake and HABIT. TT had The Collective. DH had The Cult. I completely agree with Adam. There's a lack of inspiration in the mythos and the series that don't come up with their own creations or creatures are the ones that simply won't survive.

Maybe it's just me but the brutal stabbing in #86 has a really sinister tone for all of the wrong reasons because of those insane kids' timing. Although I expect after that knife was pretty much a Chekhov's Gun that had been waiting to do something other than get passed from one owner to another, they would have been loathed to not have it finally get to kill someone and for the execution to be raw and bloody given Tim's not the most proficient fighter. Also strongly disagree on #86 being one of the best but that's not my point.

Adam Rosner, Lee from Whispered Faith, Heather, and a bunch of other big series creators found some of the crappiest series and ripped on them. VERY harshly. And the whole Slenderverse flipped out on Tumblr. They even resorted to making a Tumblr called "The Slenderverse is Going to Hell"... Long story short, the Slenderverse creators made a bad decision, and the fans overreacted WAY too much.

Jesus that's harsh, but every fandom that has a presence on tumblr is always an over exaggerated (and childish) version than the original. J.J. Abrams could write a whole trilogy based solely on the tumblr-flame war surrounding the design of the new lightsaber.

The best thing you can do is ignore those kind of people. Me? I just try to enjoy the show, and if there's someone out there who's reasonable and likes the show as well, I'll be happy to discuss it with them.

And the creators are well within their rights to talk about stuff they don't like--that being said, I think it's better to focus on the good rather than the bad. Like, the new lightsaber design might be a little impractical but it the scheme of the story, it doesn't matter much (and I guess I'm biased because I actually like Abrams...)

Slenderverse died with tumblr invasion and them turning Slenderseries into a joke. Endless stream of uncreative low quality videos with some SJW gimmicks and really unattractive creators - who wants to watch that exactly? They deserve every ridicule they get IMO.

I strongly disagree. Just look at SITH! I think that no one deserves ridicule, and that we should all be accepting in this community, but that's been a rarity lately, hence my suggestion for the Fear Mythos. Anyways, tonight at 12, someone lock this thread. We're moving over to the 2015 thread.

Well, if something sucks, we're allowed to speak our minds about it. That being said, I don't think we should constantly shame on series we don't like or try to make it miserable for anyone else to watch them.

I think we'll have to just wait and see what happens. EMH, eventually, will resurface and there we already have a confirmation on new content for Dark Harvest soon. There is some new Tribe Twelve content and there's always that new Marble Hornets movie.

As for now, Happy New Year. See you in the 2015 thread!
