 		This thread has been absolutely hilarious, thanks for the laughs. Defenders of a bad ripoff using discrimination as a distraction shield - classic! I couldn't bring myself to actually watch any of the videos, but I'm willing to believe from reading this thread that I would regret doing so.

 		I think the problem for me with these videos is that they just lack the energy of Hornets itself and personally, I don't see why they rewrote the text in each entries.

That and I don't see why they felt the need to re-do the series in it's enterity (I have not watched all the videos and I am happy to be corrected), that's not to say that commentary like this isn't needed about how male-centered pop culture is, but I think perhaps a few key entries of the series might have made the point better then simply remaking the series in it's enterity.

That's not to say Troseph aren't beyond criticism for not including more female characters or having a more equal gender ratio in their primary characters (although it does have to be said that Jessica, on the whole, seemed to deal with everything much, much better then Jay did, keeping herself together whilist losing whole memories, ensuring that Jay, a potential creep with a camera, could stay away from her, rationalising the situation and going out on a limb to trust Jay and generally, after all the crazy events of entry #51, you could see after her initial freak out, that she got an arguably good handle on the situation and would have been the one who got Jay to get a grip on things, putting a gun on Alex, etc

I'm not begrudging Jay or Tim, but Jessica was shown to be the most capable person of dealing with the situation) , just voicing my thoughts.

I think it's also important for us to be very respectful of the creators of Slenderman media and a lot more critical then we've been. C'mon guys, we're better then that Smile

Right, because the people who hate the series never used any illogical arguments, like "I am entitled to my opinion on a public forum, now lock this shitty thread," "Why does this thread get so much attention, certainly it can't be because I come here to argue & jack up the post count," or "I'm not watching any of this, which clearly means that I am qualified to judge the quality of the content."

And for the record, I agree that "genderbending" is just a form of ripoff, but that doesn't mean that I approve of logical fallacies & strong-arming as a technique to argue that point.

I mean that mostly male cast is not a negative quality of Marble Hornets. I also don't think that mostly female cast in other series is a negative quality.

Guys and girls just do interesting, scary and funny stuff in a way they can. There is no need to search for gender issues at places where there are none.

 		Marble Hornets has mostly male characters because it's created and acted in by males. Only the main three actors have been readily available from start to finish, female characters appear less frequently as their actresses need to be hired. There's not exactly an issue there.

Having said that, if Jessica and Amy remain as damsels in distress and Sarah as the most pointless character in existence who doesn't even have her fate shown, that is pretty crappy.

Sarah's existance in the story is justified. In entry #15, she was protrayed as someone who was more then willing to get everyone to get along to get the film done and and only snapped when Alex really went out of orbit. Someone like that, after reliasing that a friend of hers was responsible for sacraficing her other friends to a faceless entity or causing them severe memory loss/enhancing their mental illness, a geniually good person who tries to see the best in life and is incredibly emphatic and understanding, having them encounter that, who knows what they might become in their revenge?

That said, they really need to expand upon her character in future entries, but I don't think she's useless and she's there to tease us about Totheark's identity.

Amy, I wager, is going to be fleshed out somehow.

I forgot about their cast avalability, so, thanks for reminding me about that Smile

That's the thing, it seemed like such a great turnaround when she disarmed Alex but then she just got taken by TO, so she is again somebody who is just there for Jay to try to save. If she's dead, then she died the moment she tried to be anything but that. Granted there is still hope for her in the future, just if we take things at face value so far, she's spent the majority of her time as Jay's damsel in distress. Hopefully we'll get a real turnaround.

That's all speculation on the Sarah front though. As things stand with MH, Sarah hasn't really been utilised well. It's possible that we might be able to speak more highly of her in the future... but increasingly more unlikely as time goes on. Hell, Trospehim have said it will likely finish before the next anniversary, implying very few entries left. Not much room in there for a Sarah tape, sadly.

As for Amy, I think so too. I really, really hope it's in the way of her turning against Alex rather than just being someone for him to protect/save. But yeah, as with the other two, she is presently not used well.
