Wanted to update this thread with a theory I found on tumblr relating to fire. I find that it's very plausible.

This is what I think about why TTA was formed.

Totheark is probably a group of people that has stalked by TO for a long time but not affected the same way other does. Even they know everything more than Jay and us, there's always posibility they also has forget stuff and they unite to remember it. 3 years is enough to remember everything they have forgotten.

A nice theory, but I don't think "totheark" was an organization or movement. I really think it was Hoody, possibly with the occasional help of Masky, trying to get some sort of "justice" for what had happened after the Marble Hornets shoot became doomed. That said, I hope that the final entries say something about whether there's some sort of IG mythology for TO, maybe even whatever the Slendyverse is. Even if I'm right and Hoody became warped like Ahab, he must have gotten some information from somewhere (especially if he's adept at researching stock footage, etc., and it's not as if a character IG hasn't found out something vital to the series from running an internet search). Maybe some version of the Something Awful forums? The series wouldn't have to say much--the movie could really go into it--and there'd be the danger of releasing far too much and wrecking the realism they're striving for (as much as could be had in a series about an eldritch abomination). But it would be nice to see that, say, the Operator Symbol was found online, or that some mysterious online entity contacted Alex or Brian or both, or that maybe "The Ark" was mentioned in an old diary or some other text and passed into myth. God, this is long.

Eyes
In totheark's Addition, the video description is //eyes\\. As there seems to be a relation between a camera lens and an eye lens. It may be that the Operator is able to see through the camera lens since he has no eyes. An example is in Entry #26 when Amy is filming. As she moves the camera onto Alex, the picture freezes for a moment and then continues.

This may mean that he's been spotted by the Operator, who shows up shortly afterwards.

Also to consider: Hoody has eyes on his mask, Masky does as well.

Dark circles/bags under the eyes
This seems to happen during/after encountering the Operator and apparently it leaves you with no memory of what happened.

First occurrence: Jay in totheark's Return.
Second occurrence: Jessica in Entry #32.
Third occurrence: Tim in Entry #64

The Operator's growing power

In Season 1, in some entries where it was 2006. The Operator was not that powerful overall.

-The Operator has barely caused a disturbance like in #7 or #12.

-It would walk for transportation (#4, #14)

-It would cause a slight distortion in the cameras (line break at the bottom of the camera, #3, even brought back in #84 during Tim's reading lines).

-Some slight memory loss like in #17 and #20.

There was only slight teleportation/room shifting and speeding up of time 3 years later when Jay went investigating the houses (#16, #23).

As it went on in Season 2, the distortion gets much more powerful. Knocking out Jay and Jessica's memory for 7 months, not really walking but just teleporting, and able to take away bodies (#49). Also he knocks the crap out of Jay (#52).

In Season 3 he is full-blown powerful.

-Entry #65, the Operator seems to be teleporting Tim all around Rosswood, at a decreased time interval. Tim seems to go through a whole bunch of things and still makes it into his car before Jay.

-It seems to know to protect Alex (#67) meaning it probably has motives.

-#72 makes Jay completely paranoid, he thinks he saw the Operator but didn't. It also causes Jay to have a seizure, and had massive distortion on the camera.

-#77 it makes Jay frustrated and completely paranoid turning against Tim.

-It seems to distort cameras to the point of bringing up different time intervals on the tape itself (#83) while it can constantly shift people from one area to another.

So in keeping with the subject, the more the Operator affects, the stronger he gets.

Sleep deprivation

Most of the characters in the story who have encountered the Operator have had sleep deprivation, or a history of.

-Jay claims that he hasn't had a full night's sleep in 2 or 3 years "because of all this." (#72)

-Jessica claims she can't sleep, but when she does, she feels like she's sleepwalking (#32).

-Tim's medical documents indicate that he has had an average of 4 hours of sleep per night (Edit: #60.5)

-Alex is implied to have sleep deprivation, as he is seen being interrupted during his sleep or not able to because he seems to investigate during the night (#1, #4, #6, #10, #11, #14, #44).

I think it's too arguable whether or not The Operator is becoming more powerful to call it a theme & I'm not sure that the bags under the eyes should be separate from sleep deprivation.

Yes. I was just shotgun in the dark there. Cool

They're more like motifs because they are, at least, recurring or patterned. Embarassed

Is it possible that physical illness is a theme/motif? Coughing, coughing blood, seizures. Might come together with memory loss, which is somewhat a mental illness. Could also involve paranoia, hallucinations (especially!), and insomnia.

Memory loss itself is not a mental illness. Though I wouldn't put it past the crack team behind the latest DSM to issue an appendix in which a psychologist prescribes you about five medications for misplacing your car keys twice in one month.

Very true about The Operator--it seems in much of this season to be very, very, very dependent upon human hosts or even more upon a human being to stalk and terrorize (not that it gets anything resembling pleasure out of it).
