Probably of no significance, but here is the origin of the hot dog picture at www.twinbread.com/hotdog.html : http://twinbeard.com/hot-dachshund

I think I've definitely cracked the Brainf*** code now.

If you look at the offsets of each letter (as outlined by Foreverodd's post) we see that the numbers 2, 21, 20, 20, and 19 (repeated) are subtracted from each letter to give a new letter.

But if we reverse that, and ADD each number onto a FIXED value (say, 64, which is where the uppercase letters start in ASCII), we get a result:

64 + 2 = B
64 + 21 = U
64 + 20 = T
64 + 20 = T
64 + 19 = S

And this is where the "BUTTSBUTTSB" comes from!

So, I've been messing with the telephone call. Nothing yet, but thanks for uploading it, aklreaxmer! I have a feeling it must be important in some way.

Great work, guys!

Clicking the dogs nose redirects to http://abeardforevervoyaging.com/, so that's what the page is about, I think.

I also investigated bread.jpg and bread2.jpg. The first is much more compressed than the other, so it's hard to make any useful comparisons between them.

Here are the EXIF dumps of the respective pictures: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/9570039

Addition:

I cheated a bit and asked some gurus for help with this one Wink

The audio had to be inverted first and then converted into TAP with UberCassette

Code:
UberCassette.exe kof.wav kof.tap -machine C64 -normalise OFF -minsignal 8 -audio LEFT

And then baked into a prg with TAPClean

Code:
TAPClean.exe -t kof.tap -doprx -prgunite

Then run 011 (0801-6F40).prg in VICE.

egb13.ugzy is ROT-13 encoded string rot13.html

From the source of twinbread.com/rot13.html we can find a link to castlevania_passacaglia_of_disrepair.rom which is actually a GameBoy Advance rom.

When run in Visual Boy Advance it produces the following image

and a familiar song Sad

There's still the matter of the Berkley thing, though. Guess we'll have to wait a month for the "next part"

Also, we haven't turned the phone number recording into "butts" yet. Got that to look forward to.

And there's still the pagecount at 0451 mystery.

Wow, nice.

High probability that this is a red herring / attempt at trolling in my opinion, but figured I would share it anyway. About 30 minutes ago this image http://i.imgur.com/l1Lpcah.png was posted in the sparsely populated subreddit for this thing http://www.reddit.com/r/kernaloftruth/ with the title "bread". While I was checking it out, the user commented "too slow", and then deleted the post. I managed to lose track of the username & cache (browsing Incognito, yeah, I know) but it seems unlikely to me that anything relevant would be posted to reddit.

Just tried the Rick Roll on the GBA Emulator for myself. Pressing Z on the keyboard (Corresponds to the GBA "A" button) restarts the song.

I found this while trying the Konami Code.... (Nothing else happened, but it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the Konami logo. I guess I was trying to convince myself that there had to be something more after all that effort... Rolling Eyes )

Goddamnit, I mod that subreddit, but can't find any way of seeing the guy's username either.

Tried messing around with the image, but there doesn't seem to be anything there. Almost seems like it's one piece of a larger image.

Regarding the obama shaving game. If you just press next without shaving the beard will grow larger. It ends up just filling the screen in a large square and nothing (that I can see) happens.

The twitter accounts all seem to be either real, non existent, or already taken. The curious accounts are

@Obeardy and @flotus44

@Obeardy has three tweets including links to http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/society-and-culture/cassius-clay-dad-and-me-20120728-232wj.html which is an article that is related to the boxer Tony Madigan. The other link is http://www.mobicity.com.au/htc-one-s-z560e.html#.UyUuEq1dWAs which is a profile of a phone. I HAVE NO IDEA if this is a clue or some random piece of internet.

@flotus44 has the name Michelle Obama and is the only twitter account on the Obama shave game that has the name match the account. It has 0 tweets and 0 following...

I don't think there's anything else to be had from the shaving sim. It has a routine to elaborately examine your shaving results based on several metrics (points for Lushness, Symmetry, Blemishes, Neatness and Evenness), with rules for each aspect of your performance... but then nobody calls the grading routine Sad

So, it doesn't actually matter how you do, not yet at least. It looks like all that code is either in there with the intention of having shaving performance matter, and then abandoning it for balance/playability/crapitsnotfinishedyet reasons, or just to add an elaborate chunk of code to further confuddle us. Either way, I can't help but feel like calculateGrade() was a very well-hidden and elaborate joke just for me, including the time I spent scrutinizing the grading criteria. Yep, the unused Symmetry test really does seem to test whether there is a hair pixel precisely in the opposite spot on BHO's face! Smile

If it wasn't obvious, the follower count is pretty random also. Curiously (but probably not intentionally) the Dalai Lama can send tweets but cannot be referenced in the body of another person's tweet. The full list of twitter addresses in the game is "@Obeardy", "@biden", "@JayKay", "@The_Woles", "@Panini", "@Salza", "@AgMan", "@cashmoney", "@xXx_kathy_xXx", "@bush_man", "@Rover", "@billy1992", "@BONGyang", "@FLOTUS44", "@orly", and of course, the inimitable "@DalaiLama666". Personally, I think they're for flavor, and will have no further significance (I could be wrong).

So, that leaves us at the ransom message. This message, with GPS co-ordinates and time/date of meeting, is even hardcoded in a separate place from the procedurally-generated tweets, and seems to have a strictly less-than ten percent chance to replace a tweet (after the first twenty tweets have been fetched for the twitter screen).

I think that's the meat of this game unless there are clues hidden in the asset files, the images and such... I'll give those a cursory look sometime later.

The blackboard seems to contain a regular HTTP/1.1 transaction along these lines
Code:
$ curl -v twinbeard.com/eolo5387.html
> GET /eolo5387.html HTTP/1.1
> Host: twinbeard.com
> Accept: */*
>
< HTTP/1.1 200 OK
< Date: Sun, 16 Mar 2014 10:37:01 GMT
< Server: Apache
< Last-Modified: Tue, 11 Mar 2014 22:16:52 GMT
< ETag: "124704b9-80-4f45c13ba7d00"
< Accept-Ranges: bytes
< Content-Length: 128
< Content-Type:text/html
<body>
<big><big><big><br><br><br>sorry, try again</big></big></big>
</body>

Note that using echo5387.html instead of eolo5387.html shows the same message. This is probably just for convenience. As noted before, the real message is located at twinbread.com/eolo5387.html. I don't think there are any more clues in the ending of the pitch video.

I'm not sure if this is significant, but 0451 seems to have a special meaning in gaming as a reference to Fahrenheit 451.
Is there any Twinbeard game that allows you to enter a four-digit code at some point?

If I heard correctly, the whole spoken message is the following
Code:
The last four digits of the page of your account are zero, four, five, one.
Zero, four, five, one.
The enormity of this request cannot be conveyed over this data-channel. Godspeed.

Also, whats's the deal with kernal.png?

a code perhaps?

Also the poem that pops up from http://twinbread.com/recipie13.html
is by Edward FitzGerald. I think there are some time traveling clues hidden abound.
