Oh, alright yeah, I just realized I was using a tool that supports only ID3 1.x. Also, I remember that at some previous event, Jim used the name "Riccardo" on a badge/name tag, didn't he?

I think he was wearing it at the Berkeley meet.

Was anyone from the forums able to make it to the event? Looked super fun, wish I could have been there even outside of the potential for ARG-iness.

Phew, thank goodness. I was afraid that we wouldn't be able to get anybody to check it out, especially because of the cost to attend the whole festival, since we don't really know what day any related stuff will be shown/present/whatever. Thanks, lhall, you're a hero. 👍 Very Happy

Just out of curiosity, what game are you showing?

Our game Dysforgiveness was in the Big Games showcase. I also did a talk as part of the Analogue Games panel about the escape room game we run at home in Portland, Oregon.

FYI, the king.com GDC badge was a joke from that event two years ago. They possibly modified it in some way for puzzles but it in itself isn't a clue.

Thank you so much!! I don't know how much you have been following the whole thing, so I'll replicate my list of "things to watch out for" here, maybe it helps you:

<snip>

* Stuff with the number 17 - again, specially games or beers. The number has been coming up a lot lately.

<snip>

* If you see Jim Crawford during the event, please stalk him! No, just kidding, but if possible, at least say Hi, buy him a beer (we can refund you later) and ask for instructions.

* If you see the guys from the Red Pages Podcast, please say Hi to them, buy them a beer if possible (we can refund you later) and ask for instructions. According to this tweet they will be wearing a green shirt with a lime in it and a red polo? Something like that!

So, I ran into Justin and Jim!

Everything is a bit of a blur, but in short: I said the word "seventeen" to them and was given my choice of Amiibo (I chose Luigi). I received no instructions; in fact, after this interaction they vanished into a puff of smoke, leaving me standing alone on the street...very mysterious.

(They're actually very nice people.)

Note that in the picture there is also a Mario Amiibo, which is still in their possession.

There are no markings on it, so my next step will be to get ahold of a reader for it, when I get back home.

I'd be willing to bet that there is a clue stored as the Amiibo's name. You'll need either a Wii U, New 3DS, or regular 3DS with the NFC Reader/Writer Accessory to do that, as amiibos are encrypted as far as I know.

Would prefer if it was read with the NFC reader first just in case there is information stored via hacking the nfc the Wii U could overwrite this information.
