If it helps, here's a direct link to the GBA ROM file.

(You'll probably have to change the three letter extension from .rom to .gba to get the emulator to run it. I had no luck getting anything new from it.)

The ROM is just some code to display the Konami bootup screens, with the GBFS and 8ad stuff from pineight. Nothing obviously interesting in it.

The following link was posted in the /r/kernaloftruth subreddit earlier today:

http://twinbread.com/?stdin=U2tOU1RsZHRXbWxXUlRWRVdFZG9aMVJuUFQwTkNnPT0=

If you take the string following stdin= and run it through a Base64 decoder three times in a row, you end up with "$$MZfbTNC\h`N", which when provided as an input to the Brainfuck program on the twinbread.com homepage results in the output "KERNAL.HTML".

http://twinbread.com/kernal.html

This page contains a link to an MP3 copy of the Kernal of Truth audio -- can someone confirm whether this is identical to what we already have?

Also of note: the MP3 is tagged with the title "butts" and has "NTSC" in the comments. Maybe we need to try converting the tape differently...

Wow! That's interesting. Great discovery there.

Anyone tried the ole MP3 <-> RAW trick?

UPDATE: I ran Kernal.png trough fotoforensics, yaknow, for shits and giggles. Software used to create it originally was released around 2005, being Adobe ImageReady, the XMP data shows it may have been edited with Photoshop CS5.1, its release date being some time around 2010.
Heres the FotoForensics permalink: http://fotoforensics.com/analysis.php?id=edac8abd872a35e100663fe08104fe23b8b6b849.21812

They really have been sitting on this stuff for a while.

Update 2:I went to Netcraft with the twinbread URL, and got some interesting data. take a gander

So, there's a new Twinbeard game - Kickstarter Simulator 2015. Might possibly contain more clues?

http://twinbeard.com/kickstarter-simulator-2015

Also, the Berkeley Campus event is soon (5th April, 3pm). Hope someone can report back!

I didn't find anything of use from legitimate playing, I might have missed something. just bad ideas and a reference to the KS video, which we already picked clean.

The file is an NTSC version of the same tape that was played in the YouTube-video.

I used audiotap to convert it to a TAP and then used the same command as earlier to convert it to a PRG. When ran in VICE, it produces the same pirate picture with "egb13.ugzy" written on it. This was probably added in case someone actually wanted to try it on an NTSC C64 Smile

So no additional leads there.

The extracted prg's: prg.zip (9KB)

So I'll be on campus on Saturday. I was planning to get there a bit early, just in case... does anyone have any suggestions about what to bring/say/look for?

Some unspecified amount of money, as referenced in the original tweet?

(Don't expect it to be that much, of course.)

I have a feeling that this might be the point where the number 0451 comes into play so keep it in mind. You might need that to do something...

If a sum of money's involved, maybe bring $4.51 ? Laughing

(The reason why I think 0451 might be important is that the Berkeley event is on 4/5 which seems to be a pretty big coincidence. Could be nothing. Could be important.)

Also, take a camera and snap any strange signs / posters.... Something might need future decoding to solve.

How about a constant recording go-pro, allows u-THE COLLECTIVE CONSIOUSNESS to analyze the seemingly innocuous sites.
We can't mess this up.

Briefly: We met Jim Crawford and went for a walk. Then he was abducted by time-travelling vigilantes. But he dropped a bag full of floppy disks and other things before they carted him off.

We have videos/photos of much of it; more details soon!

Edit: Grammar.

My girlfriend and I were the ones that got the photos and videos. We will try to get them posted tonight when we get home.
