Web Hosting on a buget

We have talked about free resources such as anglefire, yahoo, lycos...

During the first Meta PM chat, GoDaddy was mentioned as a great place for name registration...

Here is another place:
http://www.doteasy.com/Services/

If you register a name through them they will give you a small amount of hosting free.
Quote:
Doteasy $0 Web Hosting $0/month, $0 Setup
No Banners or Pop-up Ads
www.yourdomain.com Web Hosting
20 MB Web Storage
1000 MB Monthly Traffic Allowance
24/7 FTP Access
10 POP Email Accounts
Domain Forwarding
POP & Web-based Email Access
Email Forwarding
Email Autoresponder

Not knowing how much traffic various ARGs have generated, I can't tell if the 1K MB will be enough, but it does have prices listed for extra space and traffic.

I've hosted with these guys in the past.
They are decent. Just don't expect good customer service.

You get what you pay for. Bargain hosting companies won't necessarily have good customer support, nor the latest versions of all of the apps on the box, which could lead to major security problems.

I've got a couple of sites hosted on nascr.net - a UK host which costs nothing for a www.nascr.net/~username site. like www.nascr.net/~fff (one of mine) Perfectly adequate for a fake website. FTP and email only work if you've dialled up on their LO-CALL number, which is where they get their revenue, I suppose.

Another advantage is that, unlike angelfire and most blogging hosts, the typical corporate firewalls don't filter nascr.net out!

Quote:
As a subscriber to NASCR.NET all you have to pay is your dial-up charge at a local rate in the UK. There is absolutely no charge for Internet access.

Your NASCR.NET package includes:
Free Internet access
20MB of web space
Local call rate in the UK
