Not Trying to Start Anything.
Looking for a Reason.

Hello! Some of you may know me as the Red Robin Campaigner. Recently, my post was locked and I would like to know why it was locked. No reason was given or personal messages were received. I know it led to some fights within the post, but we got through that. Again, I am not trying to start anything, just wanted a reason why my post got locked. I wasn't joking around about it either. I was totally 110% serious about the whole thing. The Kickstarter Video was almost ready too.

If you're actually being serious, then this is kinda.. over the top. Leave any endorsing of MH to Trosephim. Wink

It was locked primarily because the forum is for Entry discussion and behind the scenes/theory talk. The mods feel that posts like that clutter up the forum, so they lock them so that they make their way to the bottom of the pages and eventually disappear.

What I'm trying to say is, just because something is Marble Hornets related, it doesn't warrant its own separate thread. There's an off-topic thread and a THAC discussion thread for stuff like that.

It wasn't even MH related? It was literally some guy saying "I ate at Red Robin today, MH should work with them"

I regret only that I didn't get to post more reaction images. Sorry, but Marble Hornets was absolutely right the entire time. As he put it so succinctly, "It was literally some guy saying, 'I ate at Red Robin today, MH should work with them.'" There is no logical connection there. And everyone else, myself included, was just treating it like a spam & joke thread.

You can say that there was no point in him getting angry or complaining about it constantly, but that's a tone argument, & it doesn't prove him wrong. You could also say, "So what, we were having fun," but again, that's irrelevant. Spamming can be fun, that doesn't make it not spamming. Saying that he should report it to the mods may be true, but again, it doesn't prove him wrong. Saying that he was spamming himself by explaining this to you is really quite a stretch.

Yeah but it was fun which is probably why the mods let it go on so long.

You didn't need to make a thread asking why your post got locked. Just ask the mods Razz.

Well I didn't know what mod locked it so I'm not gonna be like "whys you lock my thread? When the mod I asked didn't, but thanks for letting me know backseat. Anyways this thread can go away now or locked. I got my answer lolz.

You could've asked in the off-topic thread. Instead, you made another topic Zargg, the active mod here, is going to have to lock. Nice job, man.

The moderators made their decision based on the ToS. They happened to be of the same opinion as Marble Hornets the Guy, but he was most certainly not right. "Tone" has nothing to do with it. He wasn't a mod, so all he was doing was derailing a thread that for all he knew would have been allowed to stay open indefinitely while condescending to the rest of us. If he had reported it to the moderators, then ignored the thread, he would have been right. He was no better, no more right than any of us posting in that thread. The best that can be said is that he broke even in the end.

Saying he was spamming himself by repeating his negative opinion at least four times isn't a stretch, it's an observation.

Nope. Sorry. I don't agree with that at all. He didn't "just happen" to be right, it was an obvious conclusion that anyone should have come to after thinking about it for more than 2 seconds. The thread made no damn sense. Saying that he was spamming too doesn't make his observations any less correct, even if it is true, which I don't agree that it is. If he had kept posting after you explained to him that he should just report the thread, then MAYBE.

The only obvious conclusion to arrive at was that it wasn't a serious thread, which doesn't automatically translate to "it needs to be locked". The purpose of any forum discussing a work of fiction is enjoyment, nobody's going to cure cancer or stop al kaiba by analyzing the hidden frames in the distortion of the latest hidden everymanhybrid video. Sometimes the nonsense is found to be acceptable. I stand by what I said, that the mods happened to feel the same way he did about this particular thread. And that's the point, it's up to the staff, not him, or me, or any other member. The only difference his posting about it made was that it created internet drama, a resource that's as renewable as it is abundant.

It shouldn't have to be explained. Common sense should dictate that if one doesn't have the authority to lock threads, they shouldn't be talking about doing it. Marble Hornets the Guy's opinion on the thread (that it should be locked, that it was childish, etc.) was just that: an opinion, and his opinion is worth exactly as much as that of any other person posting in that thread. Many of us found it to be entertaining at best, and harmless at worst. He voiced his opinion, it was acknowledged, that should have been the end of it. Yes, his restating it at least three times more was spam.
