[Trailhead] BehindYou 2 Looks like this ARG is starting a new chapter.
@BehindYou_ has tweeted:
Quote:
According to the papers the War is on the wane, I'm not so sure."
And Myrovh has put a message on his facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Myrovh/161548500653597?fref=ts Myrovh
Quote:
I see the war is running down and old characters are reappearing back into the weave, the soup thickens and heats up.
Unlike most Gods I answer questions of lesser beings of course you might not be able to comprehend my answers. That's
happens when you talk to Gods, don't blame me.
The PM has updated his Wiki site for the story so far:
http://oneyearmuse.wikidot.com/thestorysofar-wict
Definitely worth a read.
The place where most of the action happens is:
http://followingyou9.wordpress.com/ Following You
Other notable sites are:
http://foilheadwhy.blogspot.co.uk/ Foilhead's Why?
http://729-inc.wikidot.com/ 729
http://missingwallace.blogspot.co.uk/ Missing Wallace
This site is somewhat static because Wallace is locked in a 'Continuum Lock' not sure what that is but it sounds good.
I wasn't sure whether to resurrect the original Forum trailhead which has been archived, figured it would be better starting fresh however here is the link to the thread:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36480&start=15 Behind You
The PM has given me an Out of Game message for everyone:
Quote:
In the chapter: The Janus Archive the upshot was that the players lost an entire universe, to lose one maybe excusable however to lose two is just plain carelessness.
Actions have consequences as does inaction.

Our first puzzle in the form of a password encrypted post on the blog. I have tried a number of answers but with little luck so far.
The title is "DreamWalker's Report in Dreamlands (Dragons) – The Happy Eaters of La'Depoer (4,4)"
I believe based on the old story that this is related to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Rats in the walls - HP Lovecraft" and that the character is "De la Poer" or "delapore". But i cant make the connection yet. I thought i had a moment with "ninecats" but no luck =)
Myrovh posted on facebook:
Quote:
Apostrophes are such a pain, I'd rather remove them all together and leave a space. Such a muddle language is...
Which could lead us to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Lady Poer" who does appear in the story as "Preserved in balladry, too, though not illustrating the same point, is the hideous tale of Lady Mary de la Poer, who shortly after her marriage to the Earl of Shrewsfield was killed by him and his mother, both of the slayers being absolved and blessed by the priest to whom they confessed what they dared not repeat to the world."
although no reference to eating. Hmmm maybe I am stretching.....
or it could be a simple anagram but also led me nowhere.

I heard back from Empirecontrol:
Quote:
Agent Booba welcome back into the fold.
Lord Blacker will be happy to hear you have returned since the war began, we have lost so many good agents.
Perhaps you should look to the Gods for inspiration sir.
May the Gods be with you and Tyche clear your path.

First thing that comes to mind for me: RATS is STAR backwards, which would fit with "empire" as in "Death STAR" from Star Wars.
*eta Admittedly, I have not been following this too closely and the above suggestion is probably way off.

Twitter also backs up that i was in the direction and based on the amount of passwords i have tried (everyone three times, one with no space, one with a space and one with a comma), plus the fact i have the book in front of me, you would think I'd have got it by now

slightly off topic: de la Poer's cat wins the prize for least appropriately named pet ever.

Yups not the most appropriate name but unfortunately it was prevalent as borne out in one of Agatha Christies books.
anyway, back on topic lol
A number of updates:
Quote:
Agent Status & Brief War Report from the Front
Agent Status
Agent Spoonhead retransmitted important communications across the Empire, your agent status has increased to Level 5. Well done, keep up the good work.
Agent Russell has also used his communication skills increasing your agent status, also well done.
Agent Booba has reported in earning extra agent status.
Keep up the good works chaps!
War Report from the Front (Brief)
The report from Brigadier General H Carter regarding cannibalism on the part of the enemy is horrifically true. Intelligence agents in the field have found the remains of several Empire troops. Human bones gnawed upon, there are no wild animals in area that could of caused this damage. Agents believe it to be the work of the enemies allies, those creatures of chaos the Ghouls. It seems they a definite hunger for human flesh and the carnage of War is giving them exactly what they want.
Which i thought meant that the password had been solved but a tweet to spoonhead would suggest not so thats still out there.
Also a few email conversations:
Me
Quote:
I have just seen the latest missive from brigadier Carter and the news both worries and disgusts me. I know that we would like to do the right thing and afford our fallen heroes a decent burial but as we can't I feel we are inadvertently making the enemy stronger. Although it may turn stomachs, this is war and I believe we should be burning the bodies where possible. Without a ready source of food , these ghouls might turn on their masters.
Empire Control
Quote:
We had considered this as a possibility but as stated by Brigadier
Carter in his original report bodies have been swept clean of the
battlefields. We also fear that the Ghouls are the masters and the
Russians have been subverted into this war but that is a difficult item
of intelligence to pass onto the King. It is politically more sound
that the Russians are the enemy, the public do not need to know the
truth it would only create panic and we have enough of that already.
As to how the enemy gathers its intelligence is a particular sticking
point at present, I am sure you are looking under every stone to
discover why we are being made to look like fools in front of our superiors.
Me
Quote:
I am indeed and in fact I have a contact that is aiding me on the ground although I have a problem. Unfortunately he has succumbed to the addiction of drug 9 through no fault of his own through his indebted service to the king and empire. Although i know this is a prohibited substance, I wonder if as i continue to prove myself to the empire if certain restrictions could be loosened to aid him. Obviously this is a big ask but I would ask you to take this into consideration.
Empire Control
Quote:
This is disturbing news that a subject of the Empire has come into
contact with Nine and as I am sure you are aware it is one hundred
percent addictive from first use. Does your contact truly know how the
enemy gathers its intelligence this would be a serious boon to the Empire?!?
Of course if your contact supplies us with any useful information I am sure we can supply what little of drug we have captured in the various
raids we have made over the last year, however because of its addictive
qualities it would only be a stop gap. It is quite probable that our
own raids have made the drug rare and hard to come by. We have our best
men on it trying to unravel its genetic code.
And tweets in parallel:
Quote:
Minion says that it is becoming dificult to procure the drug 9
Quote:
Im not sure we can still use our last contact. Is there anyone we can contact on your behalf that you cant approach yourself?
Quote:
JAGuideDREldonTyrellSPLAT gmail.com he sent me a package last year but he doesnt work for the empire how can i trust him
Quote:
I agree he cannot be trusted. I am currently trying to secure you an alternative source. Stay Strong.
Quote:
Dont go near the Rogi they nearly killed minion.
Long post over =)

A thought has just occurred to me. Now I missed out all the previous chapters except for the first, but looking at the older C files, the "clue" to the password traditionally was the bit in brackets. In this case, that would be "Dragons". Of course that seems less of a clue than the lovecraft reference, but maybe it's an additional clue?
Edit: looks like the PM's just updated it

Someone is listening to you =)
The brackets now surround the second part of the sentence!
Since we are struggling on this one I have used Minions addiction to try and get us some leverage on the password.
Im so confused, just as soon as im sure its lovecraft related, im thrown a clue of what an irish baron would eat.....Potatoes
Right at the beginning when this password was first released i found that one of the real life "La Poer's" was linked to Melton and for a moment thought the answer might be "pork pies" lol
