So I've been watching S1 again, and here's what I'm starting to think: Alex only wanted to slenderize Tim, or maybe Tim/Seth/Sarah.

1. In #15, Tim mentions that Alex and Brian was close but he didn't know Alex so well. If we assume Tim to be telling the truth then Tim was easily accessible to Alex via the student film excuse, but didn't matter so much to him as a close friend would.

2. We all assume that Tim, Brian, and Seth were slenderized, and some of us are speculating that J and Sarah were as well.

3. The 4 is death trope is applied pretty often throughout the series so I'm guessing that 4 is the number of people Alex was expected to offer up for slenderization.

4. Alex wanted the operator's help for something. I think the drawings were meant to summon the operator (for instance, one in particular stands out-Alex is drawing it at the beginning of #8-at the top he is writing what I assume to be "HELP", above an operator symbol in place of slendy's face). To get this help, I think he had to make a sacrifice. Of 4 people.

5. Alex picked (maybe assumed he only needed) 3 people. Seth, Sarah, and Tim.

6. He went about sacrificing the three people, but then realized the operator needed a fourth, in entry 7. This is why usually, he doesn't notice TO in the background (maybe he's pretending not to). But then he saw that instead of his chosen sacrifices (or along with them), TO picked Brian. He was upset (hence the sudden, angry departure) but he decided to go through with it anyway.

7. After sacrificing Brian, Seth, Sarah, and Tim, he thought he was done. Unfortunately, though, the slenderization of Tim (& maybe Hoody) was botched, resulting in Masky, so Alex realized he needed another sacrifice. This was J.

8. Alex plotted J's slenderization (went beforehand and drew an operator symbol then hid it, led J out to the area), but he chickens out. This is shown in the events of entry 13. He runs ahead to the slenderization zone but the operator is out for blood and doesn't care whose, so he chases Alex down and slenderizes him too. TTA was there to try and stop Alex, so maybe this is what actually saved J (demonstrated by the fact that J is filmed walking to Alex's car in the TTA reply).

9. Alex thinks he gets away, changes locations, drops his film career, leaves all his friends, and assumes that, by never bringing it up again, he can get away from the operator. He succeeds until Amy turns on the slendy-target camera and shows herself and Alex to TO, which starts it all up again.

10. The events leading up to S2 (the lost 7 months, I mean) are Alex trying desperately to make the last sacrifice and trade for Amy. He wants to avoid making it someone he's already wronged/cares about so he tries to drive J and Jessica away, and attempts a random victim (Bruce) who, before he realizes its some rando, thinks it's J which is why he shouts about not following him. He then realizes that's not enough for TO and plots to give Jessica and J up as well.

Sorry, I might've started rambling a bit and I know some of it might not line up perfectly.

TL;DR - Alex tried to sacrifice 3 people to enlist the operator's help in something, botched one or more of the sacrifices and finally tried to run away all together but Amy brought TO back by turning on the slendy camera. S2 is Alex trying to get Amy back by fixing his original botched sacrifices and then making new ones all together.

So I've also been going over older entries and I have this crazy idea in my mind now.
What if Alex left Oppy with Tim/Hoodie when he ran away?
Hear me out here; we all know he managed to live a normal life for 3 years, yes? Well, look at this:
The first time we see Oppy in present time is at Jay's place. This happens in Return, right after Tim breaks in.
Next time we see Oppy he's in Admission, roaming through Brian's house. Jay then runs into him on his third visit there.
This makes it fairly clear that TTA had some sort of connection with TO during the "Amy era" of MH. But when does TO return to Alex? #26, of course.
I'm postulating that TTA brought the Slendy there to 'give him back' to Alex.
Evidence, you ask? Check this out:
If you go back to warning, one of the TTA entries prior to Amy's departure, it can be taken as a message to Alex.
http://marblehornets.wikidot.com/warning
Warning has the following; "Stay home. Be alone. Smile for the camera. (X)(X)(X)(X) (Slendy). Regards."
This is TTA telling Alex what they're going to do to him in #26! They even warned him not to have Amy around!

After that, TTA seems to become TO's enemy. TO is only hanging out with Alex in the woods (where I suppose Alex decided to house his pet), and Tim/Hoodie flee from TO in #45. They clearly aren't house buddies anymore.
And then in Memories they say "You will never be free", which was posted after we discover TO in the woods.

Based on all this, I am suggesting that Alex passed the Slender-buck to TTA and hightailed it in order to live a normal life. TTA then found Alex and gave Slendy back to him, giving TTA a direct reason for finding Alex.
How they did this exchange... Alex's camera seems to be able to draw slendy. Perhaps Oppy senses Alex's camera on and runs over to it in hopes of finding Alex with it? If so, perhaps Return was filmed on #26's camera...

Am I sane? Foily!

I originally posted this in the #57 discussion, but think it belongs here more:
I do agree with the posts that Alex was selecting what videos to give to Jay based on making himself look innocent. The big reason I say this is all the videos of Alex doing something wrong/bad Jay either acquired from another person/source (22 & 56/57) or he had to outright steal from Alex (49/51.) I think the motive behind this is two-fold. First, if after viewing the tapes Alex tells Jay he's in danger Jay is more likely to show up and help him as we saw occur at the end of season 1. Second, I think it exists as counter-evidence should Tim (or TTA if he ends up not being in it) approach Jay and tell him all the bad things Alex did. Ideally, it would provide evidence of Alex being framed by the large man following him.

All of this said, when he tries to kill Jay/Jessica in 52 I think he did this on his own accord with no pushing from the Operator due to Jay posting the youtube series. I in fact would argue the youtube series is what allowed the Operator to find Alex and the camera was just the medium he used as he had used that same camera before. As he doesn't exist in the strict sense that we exist he more or less jumped from the internet, to the camera, to the room. The conclusion I draw from that is the Operator is able to use objects to jump around, hence why he appears to teleport to us. He's jumping from items he has encountered before, and the Operator symbols we see are something he forces people to draw while they're under his control which work as well as images of him for whatever reason. The catch of this odd power is he needs either his symbol or image himself to be viewed in order to use it. I'd also posit its possible thats why Alex is trying to get rid of his friends, they've encountered the Operator and as long as they exist he can't be sure he's truly free of the Operator.

TL;DR: 1. Alex gave Jay videos to make himself look innocent and perhaps framed
2. The Operator needs to be observed to materialize and the Operator symbol works for this.

A long theory.

I really really like this. It would put an interesting spin on Warning since almost everyone assumed it was directed at J. I don't know for sure either way but it's really interesting that you connected it to Alex since so many of the TTA vids are. (Also maybe entry ##### was directed at Alex too? We will wait for you no more meaning they're sending the operator over in this supernatural game of red rover.)

The main reason I like this theory, though, is because it sort of explains the tone shifts in the TTA vids, like how they become more angry/violent after a point (maybe at first they're trying to goad J into getting involved so they're just cryptic because they need J to draw the operator to them? But then it switches to angry when they know Alex is watching because its directed at him?)

Only thing about it is that it makes the Ark even more of an already enormous question mark, since most people assume it's something to beat the Operator with. Still though, I do like it.

I was considering that, but since its posted right before Jay's apartment getting burned down I figured its probably best to leave that directed at Jay.

On that note, I think this could explain the masks to some extent.
If they know Alex is watching the vids (which he probably is, considering his knowledge of Jay's account, his "I didn't have masked guys after me until you came around", his not wanting his house to be taped, etc.) then maybe they wore the masks to hide their identity from Alex.
I mean, if Alex saw Tim and the other survivor looking for him he'd know what they were planning. Being cryptic and spooky and hanging with Jay would've thrown Alex off of what they were doing, thus successfully getting Jay and Alex together.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Knowing Troy, that's probably going to happen regardless.

A question that I've noticed has been asked frequently around the forums is "Why didn't Alex give Jay to the Operator?" Answer: he did, but something went wrong to prevent Jay from killed/meeting a terrible fate. In Entry 22, Alex lists all of the Marble Hornets members who are "gone" and Jay is listed as one of them. We know now that "gone" probably means given to the Operator, so what this means is that Jay was given to the Operator... or so Alex thought. My theory is that Jay was the last of the Marble Hornets crew to go to the Operator in that hospital/abandoned building from Entries 51, 56 and 57, but Tim was able to save him from the Operator's clutches. My assumption is that Jay's memory was erased of the incident and he bumped into Alex and asked him about the tapes. Alex, having thought that Jay had been dead/whatever you want to call it, gives him the tapes and runs off. Maybe the Operator was upset at Alex for "letting Jay get away", maybe Alex was scared of Tim finding him, but either way Alex runs off.

Although it seems this is unlikely, I feel it matches the events of what's happened closely, and I feel that there is somewhere another tape that will explain all of this.

On Jay being 'slenderized':

It would be rad if Jay was originally a member of TTA and just doesn't remember.

This is a pet theory of mine. I mean, look at Tim. He's perfectly capable of living in everyday society, and may not even be aware that he's Masky. Jay has been shown to have memory loss before. Look at th19, where Jay disappears from bed after Masky watches him sleep, and then hangs out with TO for awhile, never remembering it. There were three hours of lost time there. Was it all really spent sitting with his back against a door, zoned out while TO hung out nearby? Or did he get up to some TTA antics with Masky?

Another theory of mine is that not only is Jay part of TTA, but he's Hoody. I've as yet to see anything that points to them being in the same place at the same time. And look at Hoody's first appearance in 41. He goes and gets Jay's camera out of the woods. If there is some amount of safety in wearing the mask/hood/covering your face, his subconcious might have kicked in, put on his hoody (presumably something kept nearby unconciously), and went after it. We don't see anything else Hoody is wearing that entry, just the hood, so we can't tell if he has the same pants/shoes that Jay did earlier in 40. So he could have easily seen TO, ran away, Hoody'd out, and gone back for his camera. He then returns to normal, no recollection of any of this.

Yes yes yes!!
This has been always one of my favorite ideas too.
I like the idea that some of the TTA messages to Jay may be from his "other self". And when Masky intrudes into Jay's room when he sleeps, he is just waiting for "Other Jay" to wake up. No wonder Jay felt tired all the time...

Ever since the video with Brian at the annex (51) I immediately assumed this to be true. This got me to thinking about the video Alex sent Jay, the one where his girlfriend finds his camera in the closet, and the Operator shows up. (26, I believe) I personally think that Alex set that up, too. He had the camera hidden somewhere good (maybe out of the house?) and then moved it somewhere easier to find in the closet. He could have asked the girlfriend just before that to go get something from said closet, knowing she'd find it, and probably want to fool around with it.

We have no proof that Alex had actually ran away to escape TO, he simply may have wanted to go somewhere new to work on doing more work for him, or to escape TTA/Masky, or some such. He could have been working with TO that entire time. When he finds out Jay started watching the tapes (from seeing the youtube channel, or from TO himself), he sets his girlfriend up to make himself look innocent again, and gain Jay's trust. Maybe he wants to stop Jay from investigating further (he probably never expected the tapes to go public), or he is still trying to capture him. Perhaps he wants him and Tim (and perhaps TTA?), since he almost kills Tim in that abandoned house.

TL;DR: Entry 26 is set up by Alex, to make Jay sympathetic, and reinforce his apparent innocence.

I do like the theory that Alex set up some of the videos to make it look like he's the intended victim, and I think we could possibly add entry 14 to it. Here's my reason: in every single video that the Operator's been shown in, he's either been standing still, teleporting, or looking like he's gliding (like in Return), but in 14, he's walking like a normal person would walk, plus it's the only vid in which we could guess that he has tentacles but they're like held in the air. It's possible that Alex set this video up hoping that Jay would think the Operator attacked him.

So guys; a thought.
Could TTA have captured Amy and Jessica?
Assuming TTA set-up the camera in #26, they were around during the disappearance of both. And getting rid of them could be for a couple reasons:
1. They're trying to keep others out of things. Much like Jay and Alex, they'd rather keep everything to themselves and not have others get involved.
2. They took Amy and Jessica and are explaining what's going on to them. Quite possibly this would lead to Amy and Jess becoming TTA members.

Thoughts, guys?

Well jessica screamed before she was captured, and we know the operator was inside her room before (the entry where jay hears banging in the middle of the night) and then he appears in jay's room right after

Also i assumed hoody was totheark (bc of intermission/beginning of 42) and was following jay/jessica in entry 52 when alex was leading them to the building (jessica claims someone was following them - we see it's not tim since he's up ahead and the operator doesn't really make noise when he moves around). If this is true, then hoody couldn't have gotten to that hotel that fast

...Wait, weren't they at the hotel for days before Jessica disappeared? If Tim got there before they left I'd imagine Hoodie could reach them too.
(I was talking about Jess's disappearance when Tim scared Jay off, not #52 if that's what you mean.)
