 		Does Bryan say "See, not as bad as you thought." right before the camera cuts off before the "B footage"? Also, I think I here Tim says something after that, but I can't make it out.

They often turn around when there's distortion on the camera, in entries like 70 and 52. Maybe they still do realise. Or it's random when it's noticeable. Or TO chooses when to make it noticeable in order to fuck with everyone.

This is a good point. TO had previously been following Tim as far as we know (though enttry 37 makes things confusing) so might this have been the moment in which the curse was "passed on" to Alex? It is their first meeting and the first of Alex's encounters with TO in 2006 that we know of. Maybe the passing the curse on was even the real secret referred to in Null, who knows.

To extend upon enttry 37, I think it is unusual for a birthday recording to have never been watched by the family, to see or notice TO and all the distortions. I would assume that if the TO occurrence did indeed took place in 1991 it would have been obvious to his whole family if not even more people (especially entry 84 shows that the cameraman can indeed see the distortions in real time).
Therefore I think it is more plausible that it is either an altered video by TTA, or a virtual 'infection' of TO on Alex, going through his history (and perhaps memory).

I assume the tape was later taken and hidden away, maybe even by Alex himself, paranoid as a result of the stalking. That particular appearance/distortion wasn't noticed at the time of recording. But from what we know, Alex and Amy are the only plausible people to have uploaded that tape. We're probably supposed to believe Brian used his omnipotent ninja skills to get it though.

If TTA did alter it, then there's no longer anything scary about the entry. It was just a normal birthday party and TTA wasted time overlaying TO just to be a dick. The history-infection thing is a bit of a better theory, though we haven't seen that kind of thing before and I'm not sure what it would add exactly other than making things more confusing.

I have nothing to say about all of the Brian stuff. You are completely right. Even if we don't talk about quality, & just purely analyze the facts, there's no explanation for how he learned to do any of the stuff that he does.
Or why. Not just the how, but what specifically led to his current state? TO? Maybe, but then, why isn't he like Alex? Or is he?

 		Now that I think about it, I kind of wonder if the other people involved with the Marble Hornets shoot got into it because of Brian. Meaning either they heard he was doing it and decided to check it out for themselves ("hey, if Brian's doing it it must be pretty cool") or Brian actually encouraged them to, in order to help out his friend (with the exception of Jay, who was involved because he wanted to help his friend) with what was likely his first real film project.

That's a possibility. The dialogue between Brian and Alex sure made it seem as if the two knew each other well enough before the audition (other than from, say, an email answering a craigslist ad or Student Union flier or whatever).
