DERN Defence Fail Safe Powering Up

DERN details by Du Pre Alexander

What do we know about the DERN? An intelligence from another dimension maybe a parallel one, are they related to Cthulhu who knows for sure. Are they superior to us definitely not otherwise we would be extinct by now. We know that the One is scared on them which at least should give us pause for thought. They however are obviously a threat! Over the millennia they have sent several organic incursions to spy on us as well as their early attempts to destroy the Component Field using the Outcast to steal the Field Locks from their sacred places. The location of those Locks have been a prime concern for all Joined, the integrity of the field was seriously affected by the removal of the Locks. Fortunately the DERN do not have the Locks otherwise the entire field would of collapsed by now and we would most definitely be dead. The DERN are the ultimate enemy, it is obvious that the Outcast are their agents even if they believe otherwise.

Upon examination of a DERN organic incursion many Moons ago, the host body has almost no control once infested by the DERN. Self-harming, cuts into the flesh and violent tendencies are common traits of an organic incursion however there have been incidents where none of these traits are apparent. It is these incursions that we have to be wary for my own part I believe these DERN are more trained and experienced to survive inside a host body. I suspect the violent organic incursions are in fact punishment or perhaps exile from their native lands, these have never been trained which is why they last so little time indeed. It has however allowed me indirect access to the DERN themselves.

My findings show that the DERN are mostly made up of layers of energy much like we are made of multiple cells and I believe the more layers they have the more experienced they are. My experiences with the Cube and its lesser cousins found on Mars show that the DERN energy matrix can't abide the Cube's energy radiation although I have noticed that it seems less susceptible when inside a host body. The flesh seems to shield it somewhat.

Our goals are clear: Destroy the Outcast, Recover the Locks and Expand the field which will in turn stop any future incursions by the DERN.

Tick-Tock

What happened in Order:

Turned the hourglass 90 degrees
A silvery cube came down the square tube but stopped halfway
Cube dial on the generator started to flash red, I turned it, only went half way. The light flashed green. The dial showing the energy has increased to 35 out of a 100, although it is trembling back and forth somewhat
The ground started to shake, the Tesla coils increased in power and there were electric bolts coming off them hitting the square tube
I saw Miss Sawyer come into the room, her eyes look bright white and then she passed out
I told Emma to drag her back around the corner, I went to help her
I went back into the main hallway after I saw that Miss Sawyer was okay
The Tesla coils started to calm down but the ground is trembling slightly, barely noticeable
I could hear a pounding against the vault door.
The screen has cleared it now says: The Truth has Become an Urban Myth


Also a message from empire control when i panicked about the safety of Ambrose and the others Smile :

The reason we have been somewhat quiet on the war front is because of the Gaunts and their ability to pick up anything we say could go against us. We have implemented a series of cold room procedures which has allowed us to monitor if a Gaunt is in the room with us or not. This has gained us some victories in Europe however we are still running into enemy airships that appear and disappear seemingly at will, it is still mostly a stalemate.

We are hoping that when we regain control of Dun Troddan we will have access to the Gas that the Joined created to destroy the Outcast. Without their allies it will be a simple method to win the war with superior fire power.

 		My thoughts at the moment is trying to break down each of the three clues into a description:

Kid Model - This has me beat i cannot think of any meaning so i guess we will see this one with hindsight

Onion cutter - with Myrovhs clue about rotating whilst cutting apparently this technique with onions is called a "Fan".

Tree felling - with the Jack the ripper influence I am plumping for tree "surgeon"

other things i found:

Bousfield aka luckhurst was a witness in the jack the ripper case who's husband was a lumberjack

Also one of the possible jack the ripper suspects was found with a variety of items in their pocket including a spring onion.

All of the above could be rubbish and unrelated but it was certainly an interest read when i found them lol

New C-file and the clue immediately makes me think of witch hunting and ordeal by water/fire.

The HMS Hammer has been seen in the Drift reported to me by one my agents returning from Gak, it was seen over the Bog west of Gak. HMS Hammer is distinctive as a DreadNought class airship with its cannons housed in the belly of the main hull, due to have accident during its maiden voyage the HMS Hammer lost two of the nine cannons. They have never been replaced. The Drift is an unknown phenomenon which appears randomly across the Dreamlands, its size is also randomly. It said to show the future, present and past, an extensive study has been made by Du Pre Alexander. I understand that he dislocated his shoulder whilst doing the study though as to how this happened I do not know but he is known to be type of person to push things to the utmost limits. He however has never worked for the Empire and his current whereabouts is unknown, despite many attempts by the intelligence community to find him.

Whisper of God details by Du Pre Alexander After the loss of the Rumours of God I decided to create larger versions with the last of my micro-cubes from Mars, these three were called the Whispers of God. These are bigger enough to create portals that will allow Airships through. These devices MUST not fall into the hands of our enemies especially the ill informed Empire. They do not understand that the Dreamlands are an extension of our own reality and that to interfere with its inhabitants would seriously mess with our reality. However that being said these devices will change the very face of Air battle tactics when you can just disappear from our reality and reappear behind the enemy at will. I have extensively mapped the Dreamlands in relation to our reality based twin points, some geographic locations are better suited than others. Many stone circles and sacred places are key transfer points, my only worry is that the Whispers may inadvertently rip a hole between worlds however I believe I have identified the initial problems I had with the Rumours of God and whilst it is still a worry sometimes you have to push the envelope to its limit. On their own they will easily create a sizeable gateway that an airship may pass through however all three together will close any Riven which is very useful indeed! Whoever reads this if you work for the Empire do not tell them about the following information, they would use these devices to expand their Empire into the Dreamlands thereby eventually destroying our reality in the process. The Whispers of God work with no problems as long they are fired with controlled bursts, constant fire they overheat and they explode! Standing well back at this point is a very good idea at least twenty-five miles back if not more. Your actions have consequences as does inaction!
