Snooze a little, miss a lot... Nice work people!

Catching up.

The missing whisky and moved tea pot suggest that Wallace and Louise are trapped in a "ghostly" fashion in the same room with Ambrose and company?

Helping Ambrose with the password will free everyone in the room along with a prototype " Whispers of God" which would allow our agents into the Dreamlands to battle the Outcasts there?

Didn't F.P. Sun take off with one of those from Dun Trodden?

The last password has "333" As in 333Mhz from past adventures?

Gaunts:
It has been stressed that Gaunts can't see the invisible. Unfortunately neither can I. Do Wallace and Louise qualify as invisible?

To tie our two storylines together, can we deduce who hijacked Shakes/Carrie's baby from the Outcast? (Who hung around Wapping docks?) The outcast would simply have ripped (pun intended) the mother apart to make retrieval easier, without the niceties of cash and a ticket. Would such a child, now grown, have the Outcast ability to control Gaunts?

My apologies for the ramblings, but sometimes it helps.

Welcome back Booba. Your ramblings are appreciated and I hope it is just Wallace in that room with them!
And a few more pages :

http://729-inc.wikidot.com/drift
http://729-inc.wikidot.com/about

I have suggested "Myrovh" as the password as he/it tweeted that exact phrase right at the beginning of this chapter when we were having issues with the first password. What was your thinking Booba?

I was thinking it would be a real shame to leave 30 year single malt for the ghouls.

Edit to add:
I entered Friday the 13th as a possible password because a similarly shaped grid, used before, used a spiral progression, ending in the middle/middle. On the list of death this is HMS Friday 13, the only non-real ship. and the only one who's number means anything. (And there is no penalty for just guessing Smile )

Good thinking!

I have been looking at the list of items in the room again and a few jump out at me:

B flat Trumpet - Maybe we need to use the harmonic frequency to initiate something (440mhz)
Small telescope - Hy on earth would you have a telescope underground. perhaps we can dismantle it and use the lens for magnification.
Van de Graff Generator - Could link up to the existing generator that only has 10% charge at the moment.
Lime powder - Gives us the ability to make quickline / slaked lime etc

List of Death

I know the columns won't look right, but here's a list of numbers from the grid, with row/column sums. That 81 sure sticks out.

27 18 19 20 18 21 21 25 81 ___ 250
13 15 20 17 22 14 17 22 21 ___ 161
16 19 21 21 15 14 15 19 17 ___ 157
14 17 20 19 16 17 19 19 19 ___ 160
19 16 11 20 13 16 18 19 17 ___ 149
19 18 17 13 16 23 15 29 20 ___ 170
19 26 17 15 16 19 17 18 13 ___ 160
19 17 24 16 22 20 13 15 24 ___ 170
15 20 21 20 09 11 18 17 17 ___ 148

161 166 170 161 147 155 153 183 229

That's what I thought, a nine by nine grid where the lowest number is 9 and the highest number is 81....also the location of all the hms ships is a little suspect...

Based on empires response to Spoonhead, it looks like the live chat will be tonight.

Also forgot to mention an update from foilhead on the voxigraphs.

Edit **

New password from sister mary files.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Avebury

It helped that i went there every year as a kid Laughing

Also live meeting tonight from 8:00 - 8:15 pm link will be placed on the website.

[20:00] <AgentRussell> Good evening Ambrose
[20:00] <AmbroseR> Hello we have 15 minutes only
[20:00] <AgentRussell> have empire control passed along our password suggestions for the linker?
[20:00] <AmbroseR> Your passwords I've tried them all, none have work.
[20:01] <AmbroseR> Sorry been a little manic had a minor disaster with a fire earlier
[20:01] <AgentRussell> What caused it?
[20:01] <AmbroseR> Miss Sawyer suggested that whatever was in the room with us maybe frighten by fire
[20:02] <AgentRussell> yeah that sounds like a recipe for disaster
[20:02] <AmbroseR> a bunsen burner appeared to knock itself over, all under control now though
[20:02] <AgentRussell> ok so empire control sent us a picture of the room, there was an hourglass in the picture. has this been found in there?
[20:03] <AmbroseR> Yes, it was in the cupboard with the faded picture, didn't even know it was a cupboard quite odd really
[20:03] <AgentRussell> ok so we also noticed the machine attached the the glass column had the same shape. have you tried inserting and turning in the direction of the arrows?
[20:05] <AmbroseR> Sorry yes it does fit into the lock on the square glass tube, in fact once I pushed it in it now will not come back out again. However it will not turn at all.
[20:05] <AgentRussell> perhaps it will only turn if the power is increased to the machine
[20:05] <AmbroseR> Oh GODS!
[20:06] <AmbroseR> as'df;;fsdf;s
[20:06] <AgentRussell> Ambrose!
[20:06] <AmbroseR> Sorry the kettle just appeared right next to me, gave me quite a start. Just a kettle I suppose
[20:06] <AgentRussell> dont worry me like that
[20:07] <AmbroseR> What is this thing?
[20:07] <AgentRussell> but it gives me an idea
[20:07] <AgentRussell> if it is the kettle it seems obsessed with maybe we can use that as bait for a trap
[20:07] <AmbroseR> Not long...trap how?
[20:08] <AmbroseR> 7 minutes
[20:08] <AgentRussell> well we believe electric current would hurt it
[20:08] <AgentRussell> so if we hooked up the generator to the kettle then next time it moves it....
[20:08] <AgentRussell> at least you might have a chance at incapacitating it
[20:09] <AmbroseR> sounds risky, wouldn't it be bettter to contain it somehow?
[20:09] <AgentRussell> the glass column is it open or closed?
[20:09] <AmbroseR> Completely closed but we do have some glass like panelling we could make something
[20:10] <AmbroseR> Been awhile since I used a welder though
[20:10] <AgentRussell> well if the material you have is strong enough
[20:10] <AgentRussell> you could use the hinges as well as the copper bath to form part of it
[20:10] <AmbroseR> It unlike any glass I've come across seems very strong indeed
[20:11] <AgentRussell> ok so if we can create the trap, use the kettle as bait, sound to contain or stun it......it may work but very risky
[20:11] <AmbroseR> Mmm that might just work, why does it like the kettle though? It only comes to me?
[20:12] <AgentRussell> is there anything in the kettle or anything written on or under it?
[20:12] <AmbroseR> No just a plain old iron kettle
[20:12] <AgentRussell> ok quick questions 1. the drawing on the cupboard what is it
[20:13] <AmbroseR> Picture of this room I think Tshaped
[20:13] <AmbroseR> We could speak again tomorrow
[20:13] <AgentRussell> ok anything you need to tell me in the last couple of minutes?
[20:14] <AmbroseR> Something odd about the ships in the list of ships, tac
[20:14] == AmbroseR [56b366e2@gateway/web/freenode/ip.86.179.102.226] has left #RTLDunTrod []

.......well its a plan of sorts Shocked

Also the empire has a sick sense of humour and have changed their background image to a forest Laughing

since there is a giant 9 on the floor in the picture could it be as simple as using "Pandora" as the password?

Coffee THX a big bunch for posting your Ambrose chat, Russell. That plan is shaping up nicely! This convo with Samael, my favorite Joined, is from FB:

Quote:
Amandel: Naming Gaunts the "Dark Muse" sounds like your doing. Share any insights that aren't common 729 knowledge b/c maybe a child's sanity is at stake?

Samael Leamas: Of course we can see Gaunts I even believe it is written on the 729 site. They got very big mouths, no teeth, a snake like tongue, almost no saliva and no nose. They eat by breathing in would you believe. Pointy ears as I recall too. They are probably the least violent of the cursed Outcast species, still any caged animal does get frustrated. I very much doubt it would hurt a child of any species at least not on purpose. They can however be quite mischievous and cunning. I understand they do not like confined spaces either and like insects can not see what is right in front them no matter how many times they bash their heads against it. Your 10 year old is mostly safe, is the child on its own?

Amandel: TY and why do you ask? Luckily, there's someone prudent with him. Then, is the best course not to provoke the Gaunt w/o an exigent reason?

Samael Leamas: A child on its own in the company of a Gaunt is perfectly safe but adults always complicate matters. Is there a Ghoul present? If not then prepare for a whirlwind, best to trap it.

Amandel: Dufos me asking if by Ghoul you refer to its Outcast master?

Samael Leamas: Yes, I prefer to use their slang name bottom feeders all of them.

Amandel: Your wicked sense of irony hasn't evaporated after all! But trapping...yikes. Are they weakened by shrill noises or direct current?

Samael Leamas: Hunters trap animals all the time and in many cases the hunter is not even present to see the animal trapped. Who needs to see it? They are not deaf so I wouldn't be surprised if they do not like very loud or high pitched noises, they hear in normal time. Electric current would definitely cause it problems they are after all just organic creatures. Irony is the best form of humour....You are of course assuming everything I told you is fact!

Amandel: War is trauma enough for a child. To scar him deeper is beyond reproach. I've never deduced smallness in you so I believe you in this matter

Samael Leamas: Oh the child is safe I would never hurt a child. Still you should not be so trusting. Not everything is as it seems...You should know by now that my tactics are different in different places.

[20:00] <AmbroseR> hello again
[20:00] <AgentRussell> Hello once again.
[20:00] <AmbroseR> pandora didn't work
[20:00] <AmbroseR> building is slow going as well
[20:00] <AgentRussell> you were cut off halfway through telling us about tactics and your thoughts on the message you found
[20:01] <AmbroseR> yes, it was nagging at me still cannot get the edge of it, Ships and tactics
[20:01] <AmbroseR> all I can see is trees not the forest very annoying
[20:01] <AgentRussell> i am pondering on the location of the hms ships forming a giant T
[20:02] <AmbroseR> Aha! How did I not see that
[20:02] <AmbroseR> What does it mean though?
[20:02] <AgentRussell> it bisects the two sides but i cannot correlate that to the numbers
[20:03] <AmbroseR> Yes I couldn't understand the numbers either and Miss Sawyer who teaches a little maths says they look meaningless
[20:03] <AgentRussell> any further odd occurrences in the room, how are you all holding up?
[20:04] <AmbroseR> Very good, Timmy is still holding onto to Emma but she is very strong. Yes the kettle keeps following me around. I think it wants tea does that make sense to you?
[20:05] <AgentRussell> OK hang on, Kettle for Tea and the T shape in the grid
[20:06] <AmbroseR> Maybe it likes the smell, probably a coincident that. I mean it didn't expect to get locked in with us, well I assume not.
[20:06] <AgentRussell> any luck with rotating the hourglass or is it still shut fast?
[20:07] <AmbroseR> Got two of the panels together now, no it will not move. Tried turning the cube dial as well. I think we need to type in the correct password before anything happens.
[20:08] <AmbroseR> No more accidents thank the gods.
[20:08] <AgentRussell> Yes thats somewhat problematic at the moment, we have our best minds on it
[20:09] <AmbroseR> Something about tactics it is on the tip of my brain.
[20:09] <AmbroseR> 6 mins
[20:09] <AmbroseR> I don't cut you off, it is the Empire
[20:10] <AgentRussell> could you try "Crossing the T" or "cutting the t" both ship tactics in a t formation
[20:10] <AmbroseR> Quite cold in here unless we make tea of course.
[20:10] <AmbroseR> Miss Sawyer loves her cup of tea.
[20:11] <AgentRussell> Well thats the british for you!
[20:11] <AmbroseR> Through and through Smile
[20:12] <AmbroseR> Emma says that Timmy thinks we shouldn't harm it
[20:12] <AgentRussell> I agree it would possibly make it more dangerous
[20:12] <AmbroseR> Do you know someone who knows what it is?
[20:12] <AgentRussell> although trapping it at least will ensure it stays putt
[20:13] <AgentRussell> We think it is a gaunt but i think the less i tell you the better
[20:13] <AgentRussell> they arent particularly nice creatures
[20:13] <AmbroseR> how do you know they are not nice?
[20:13] <AmbroseR> 1 min
[20:14] <AgentRussell> well to be fair we havent caught one yet but there masters are not pleasent at all
[20:14] <AmbroseR> don't blame the messengers
[20:14] <AgentRussell> i will pas on your thoughts to the empire and our team
[20:14] <AgentRussell> keep safe!
[20:14] <AmbroseR> okay bye u 2

I literally lolled when they started going on about tea, i know it was a clue but had no idea how to respond Laughing

Ok so the empire have posted that my suggestion was correct....Not sure if it was or the PM chose to move the story on but at least thats one less thing to worry about. Razz The code looks like gobbledegook to me atm. Anyone with ideas?

Beaut work, Russell!
The Tea cipher solve
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ROT47 reading: Agent Russell the Tesla coils have turned on and the screen is now displaying the following:

DERN Defence Fail Safe Enabled

The Cube by Du Pre Alexander:

The Cube is of alien origins and its energies can be harnessed to fight the threat that the DERN represent. In my arcane researches many years ago I came across a reference to an artefact of immense power and the Priest that must not be named had it under his protection in the cold wasteland of Leng. The problem I had with travelling to Leng in Dream state is that I couldn't bring anything out, there are however points in our world where the Dreamlands meet. The fabric between the worlds is thin in these places passing through requires an adept or an inhabitant of the Dreamlands neither of which I had at the time since then of course we have had many of its inhabitants visit us but that is different story all together. My final solution was inspired by the Breadth of God satellite created by Max Drum which drove him somewhat mad, I made smaller versions of his satellite. Small enough to hold in your hand but bigger enough to create a stable gateway into the Dreamlands, I called them the Rumours of God they were powered by micro-Cubes found on Mars. Despite their power source they were quite unreliable and nearly got me killed in the recovery of the Cube. They are now sadly at the bottom of the ocean off the coast of China should anyone wish to retrieve them.

How the Cube works is difficult to explain, its somehow absorbs energy from a vacuum however many of us think that this energy doesn't come from nothing but just something we cannot see. Its properties are very odd indeed, it is as soft as butter but once you hack a piece off that piece eventually dissolves into nothing. You would think that the cube would lose it shape but it adjusts it size like something is controlling it. Its original size is far greater than it is now, when I saw it in Leng it was at least two foot square when I had finished with it had shrunk by half that. Interaction with my Rumours of God and the Cube proved nearly fatal but however showed me that I couldn't hand over this power to anyone especially not the One. Whilst I was sure it would of fixed the issues we had with the Component Field integrity I think ultimately it would of been too powerful, so I chose to report it lost after my return to England. It is obvious however that Fred Sun suspected that I was being less than truthful. I decided to hide the cube inside an highly complex safe which eventually also contained Fred Sun's personal journals I had recovered without his knowledge as insurance.

Handling of the Cube was very difficult indeed, it gives off a energy radiation which will kill any normal person when touched with their bare skin. When I enclosed it inside the safe which had a lead lining to it, it turned from light as a feather to weighing several tons. Which was fine when I moved it into the Dun Troddan complex because there absolutely no way it could be moved again unless the DERN Defense Fail Safe was enabled.

A DERN's energy matrix reacts energetically when it comes into contact with Cube radiation, discovered this with a Whisper of God and a DERN organic incursion. The resulting explosion caused an earthquake on the San Andreas fault line which is another story for another time. It became obvious to that the best use of the Cube was a defensive fail safe against another incursion in Dun Troddan which is the most likely spot. I adjusted the frequencies of the fail safe device so that in theory only the DERN would be affected by the blast. The Fail Safe Generator room is completely lead lined with two foot walls which should protect anyone inside the room.

Only another Joined will understand my security protocols so there is no chance of it being set off accidentally and it is likely that the Cube could only be used like this once. There is the slim possibility that nothing will happen at all but I doubt that based upon my past adventures.

Thanks Amandel, a cipher i havent seen before so will note that for the future.

Interesting that it cuts off at underneath 9. I wonder if they need to dig in that room where the giant 9 is on the floor....

I wonder if there are any "joined" in the room. Perhaps Ambrose is actually the child from the 60's that is mentioned in sister marys diary. maybe im just rambling =)

Someone needs to join in on the chat! Ambrose is probably bored of my voice by now =)

Quote:
[19:59] <AmbroseR> Evening
[20:00] <AmbroseR> had a garble message about the number 9?
[20:01] <AgentRussell> Yes we decoded it
[20:01] <AmbroseR> and?
[20:02] <AmbroseR> Do you know what it means 'underneath 9' ?
[20:02] <AgentRussell> well we have been looking at the picture of the room and saw there was a large number 9 on the floor
[20:02] <AgentRussell> is that still there?
[20:02] <AmbroseR> whereabouts exactly?
[20:02] <AgentRussell> just inside the circular door
[20:03] <AgentRussell> next to the cupboard with the picture on it
[20:03] <AmbroseR> okay let me have a look
[20:03] <AmbroseR> Found it
[20:04] <AgentRussell> trapdoor or solid ground?
[20:04] <AmbroseR> neither..the top part of the nine the middle pushed inward and a tile to the right open up.
[20:04] <AgentRussell> what was in there?
[20:05] <AmbroseR> there's a lever and I figure what the heck and pulled it.
[20:05] <AgentRussell> anything happening?
[20:05] <AmbroseR> Yes the square glass tube is glowing blue, hold on Miss Sawyer is calling me.
[20:06] <AmbroseR> Emma has just run in from the workshop to tell me that another tile has opened up
[20:06] <AgentRussell> whereabouts? and whats inside?
[20:07] <AgentRussell> time is ticking
[20:07] <AmbroseR> Sorry I've just gone and looked myself, Unbelieveable don't how I missed it there's a 27 on the floor....contains a sundial with spiralled letters and another lever which I have pulled.
[20:08] <AgentRussell> can you send us an image of the letters later?
[20:08] <AgentRussell> and did something else open up?
[20:09] <AmbroseR> Yes of course, probably have to transpose them I think. Emma has just said there another hole on the opposite side by the shelving
[20:09] <AgentRussell> curiouser and curiouser
[20:09] <AmbroseR> She have brought out a what looks like to be a big brass sextant
[20:10] <AmbroseR> Hold on the sundail is stamped on the bottom with a date: 28/6/1969 with two spirals side by side.
[20:11] <AmbroseR> The sextant degrees arm is stuck at 261 degrees at least that is how it looks
[20:12] <AgentRussell> before time runs out how is work on the trap going?
[20:12] <AmbroseR> I'll send the letters through in the clear...very slow going the welder keeps failing
[20:12] <AgentRussell> I am beginning to swing to your side of thinking that we need to be careful with the creature and not provoke it
[20:13] <AmbroseR> yes that seems best, it has been quite as long as we drink a lot of tea
[20:13] <AgentRussell> we assume it is dangerous but it has had plenty of opportunity to hurt you and has done nothing
[20:13] <AmbroseR> Good thinking indeed
[20:13] <AgentRussell> if only there was a way to communicate with it
[20:14] <AmbroseR> I'll try and fnfinished the traip togh[ghjk,m.
