The best ongoing current series would be those of the Arkn Mythos. The Mayhem Theory is my favorite, as is The North Woods Project and Handprints. I suppose by extension, Michael's Camera and any series they have crossed over to.

It's a mythos, rather than a channel so it's more like searching for content rather than a single channel.

found the wiki awhile back so here ya go
there might be a list of series on there but im immersing myself in the lore currently

I think the biggest problem with the mythos is series that haven't updated in over a year or are actually over are still the top five. I think if there was some kind of recognition for newer series instead of all this focus on the past things would seem less bleak. What are the five best current and ongoing series?

I agree on that, I mean, I like the old series but there needs to be new ones that actually put time, money, and effort into it. I would like some other type of a plot too. It seems like its always someone filming something and they suddenly see the slenderman in these tapes(which ppl I know old tapes are creepy but it is 2015--and when I say ppl I include myself because I have done the same thing)
Either way, slenderman is not as popular as it was back in 2012 and the ppl that are still watching or looking for slenderman videos or youtube series are the only ones left. I would say that MH had the most subs with like 400,000 something subscribers and maybe about 20-30,000 left still are looking for a series. Slenderman needs a big change. By that I may even go as far as to say that we may need a new mytho, a new monster, something similar to slender but not the same...a twist that will get ppl watching again

Do you suggest we come up with a brand new mythos and show it in ARG format, or we give one of these other mythos a chance at being an ARG? Because I've only seen two about the rake, AND none so far about Jeff the Killer or Jane the killer. They could make one for jeff and jane if done properly. If we were to do a brand new one similar to slenderman, what's more scary than a tall, faceless suited man in the woods, other than a hockey mask giant wielding a machete?

A new mytho completely. I think slender is creepy enough, but it doesn't have much action to it. Like something glitching towards you or crawling would be cool. The rake is an okay concept, but then again it seems like it has the same goal as a lion(as far as I know) and to just hunt and kill...which seems like no fun at all. Slender doesn't just hunt and kill, at least he produces fear in his victims first. I feel like once the rake has you, your dead...but there seems to be a twist when slender catches you. A Jeff the killer seems good but you would not only need good visual effects such as makeup but really good acting to pull off the craziness of Jeff. Coming up with a new mytho I think would get more people interested since its something new to the table and may just cause another fad obsession like slenderman was in 2012.

Here's the main problem(in my opinion): No one wants to put money in a YouTube series when they are 20+.....it seems like kids have a lot of time, but kids don't really know how to make good visuals, have good acting, and have a good plot. Not trying to put kids down, its just that I'm basing it off myself because a year ago I wouldn't have a clue to what I was doing and how to make a glitch or whatever else. To make a series believable you must have good acting, good visuals, a good plot, and really..you need to be at least 18+ because in my opinion its just not that believable when a kid is being chased by a supernatural thing and is not old enough to drive or do anything besides stay inside his house...It's just not believable...but hey if you think I'm wrong give me a series that you think is doing well with kids doing the whole shabam, cause I'm always willing to give a series a chance.

some series i know of do have a 20+ cast or crew. For Dakota, AntediluvianOne, The Mayhem Theory, Fallen Seven (I think) and TomorrowsHarvest.

hopefully more will appear soon though.

We would probably have more to watch if our protagonists didn't get all cadavered.

Or driven to insanity. Or mysteriously taken to another realm of existence. Or reincarnated/reiterated into the same host every time they died. Or molested by some asshole in glasses. Or kidnapped and triple teamed by Mr. Purple, Mr. Slim, and Mr. Metal Claws. Or hiding from a cult. What were we talking about again? Razz

I dug up this old post because some people made really good points, after seeing lots of Trailheads i do see that they are trying something different but they eventually end up either of this spots:

The entire series becomes a ''SLENDY IS THERE RUN AWAY!" Where the protagonists are allways helpless, and while that is good to create a terror atmosphere on the start of the story it eventually becomes tiresome that everyone is so helpless against this creature that you wonder why he just doesn't kill everyone

And this either devolves in, Slendy wins by doing nothing, a sudden video saying ''I'm done with this, kthxbai" or Slendy being pushed aside because the story has little or nothing to do with him.

The series uses Slendy just to be on this forum and then they have no idea what to do with him once you set things up (Wich is also a form of bad writing, and also a variation of what i said before) wich makes it easy to write yourself into a corner later in the game

Wich is pretty self explainatory, since we've seen many series featuring Slendy but not defining his powers/what can he do/weaknesses.

The storywriters feel this need to make this grandiose story that involves a lot of supernatural elements, or things beyond dimensions, or orders, cults, and Slendy is there somewhere, i don't know

This is the one i think it's the one i legitimately hate the most, this makes for so convolluted or dumb stories if you are not careful with how you play this out, besides having the need of special effects or a lot of people working with you wich can be a detriment if you do not have it planned out.

Look at how simple MH was, at the end, it was basicly
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
someone's childhood allucination that acted as a disease that could spread
and that was it, and it was done done amazingly well. Sometimes the simplest things are the best ones.

Sorry that my posts are usually walls of texts but i like to put my thoughts in order and read other's answers just to not screw up my point. Thinking better about why the mythos felt like they were dissapearing, i think this is the reason (Besides development issues)

Hey, look, it's the fourth consecutive year in which people complain that the Mythos is "dying". I've seen protracted cancer deaths that have been resolved quicker.

And seriously? You lead with "it's totally the fault of the content creators". No, it isn't. You know why? Because people are still here. If the content was uninteresting, people wouldn't watch it.

Speaking as an absolute newcomer, I can say the fanbase appears small.

I'm outside-looking-in, and only recently joined the Slenderman Mythos fanbase because of the recent launch of Clear Lakes 44 and knew the Mythos kind of spawned from Victor Surge, THAC, and Marble Hornets. At one point it looks like it was fairly large, and admittedly saturated with middling to subpar content with diamonds in the rough. This is the norm for a lot of franchises (for lack of a better term), but the Slenderman Mythos seems to have become a major case of this kind of situation.

And I need to ask - it seems a couple of the major series are kicking back off again after CL44 launches.

Is this analysis accurate, coming from a newcomer?
