I'm still maintaining the idea that Alex didn't get involve again until Amy brought out the camera. Arson might just be a symptom of exposure to The Operator, like the coughing, seizures, and aggressive behavior.

Like I said, Tim may have brought the Operator into all their lives, but without proof he did it on purpose, I can't say it was his fault.

You know who's fault all of this is? The Operator. Considering how many times we've seen it spare someone it easily could have killed, I fully believe it did all the things its done because it wanted to.

I just hope we find out what exactly i the connection between TO and Tim.

A minor point, no idea if it is significant, but I swear it sounds like a cell phone vibrating, getting a text or voice mail notification, about 11 seconds in, while Tim is trying to clean the mirror. It's too obvious to be an accident in their production, so I assume we are supposed to notice it. Who is sending anything to Tim's cell phone, considering he is ostensibly entirely alone? And if it isn't a cell phone then what the heck is it? Maybe Tim is communicating with somebody we don't know about? Maybe Alex tried to reach him via phone? (Seems unlikely.)

Anyway, that caught my ear and got me wondering.

I agree with you completely. Part of what makes Alex compelling to me, after all he's done, is how he has rationale (no matter how flawed) behind his decisions. Alex seems completely unwilling to accept the answer of "no one is responsible for this." Tim, obviously, has hints of this mentality, as well: he most likely knows he did nothing to deserve TO, yet he still feels guilty for the misery he's caused others.

It kind of all has to end at Rosswood, I think. It'd be really stupid of Tim to head straight for the place with more confirmed Operator sightings than any other single location, a place which can also, by the way, move around on its own accord, a la House of Leaves. But I'll be damned if Tim isn't going to do it anyway, and the reason I have no trouble believing Tim will do it is all in the Entry.
The first few minutes humanized the hell out of a character I'd been having trouble with. I've always liked Tim because he seemed way more solution-oriented as opposed to Jay's attitude of "I guess I'll go poke around in here for a while." Meanwhile, Tim is like "No, dude, stop filming trees and stuff and focus on taking Alex out." But that's really all I knew about the guy he is now. Yes, he had a couch, presumably a bed, and a cluttered attic, but I didn't know about the banjo until tonight. Watching someone deal with being bored shows you a new side of them. He drinks coffee, plays his banjo, messes around with a lighter (by the way, each time he turned it off, I was half expecting an Operator jump scare), and he stares out the window. These are the things he had in his house; moments of peace and boredom, and then Alex shows up and burns it to the ground. When Jay's apartment went up, I felt bad, yeah. But with Tim's house, his home? All of that has a humanizing effect and empathetic reaction from me.

Anything else I'd say about the entry would probably be negative but for mainly whiny reasons, so I'll keep my hands silent.

I'm assuming that the main revelation (confirmation, in my mind) of the Entry is that Alex burned down Jay's apartment way back when.
The whole of Alex's "This is your fault Tim!" monologue was moving I suppose, but I, as always, take everything that duplicitous man says with a shaker of salt. It makes less sense if Alex actually believes what he's saying is true about Jay and Brian dying because Tim left.

Interesting thing: Alex never really says that anyone is dead-- he says they're "gone." If he knows that they are actually dead and he is saying so, consistently choosing the word "gone" over "dead" is psychologically significant. It's almost childish. As in, when I had to comfort my six year old niece when her grandpa died, the word I used was "gone." (And yes, we did have the obligatory, "Gone where?" and "On to heaven, sweetheart," followup). The point is that we use that word to comfort kids and adults confronted with death because it implies that the departed has a destination. We usually mean it symbolically, but Alex seems to mean it literally; they've been taken. And we know that he was wrong about the last several times he called someone "gone." ("Brian is gone, Tim is, and Jay and Sara, all of them." from Entry 22.)

So I'm holding out hope that Brian and maybe Jay are still kicking and will have an epic showup at the showdown. (In my head, I picture Alex giving another "THIS IS YOUR FAULT" speech with a gun on Tim until Jay and Brian grab him from behind and they finally get to interrogate him fully. Until, of course, the Operator shows up, and they're sent to the Operating Room, where Alex gives an explanation to where they are and what that place is. So awesome.)

Where do you guys think that Entry 86 (be it last or penultimate) is going to be? I already stated Rosswood, but I heard talk of the hospital and the school before on the thread and I'd like to know what you think. [/i]

My house or not I would have backed out and lit that shit while he was yelling at the attic door.

Just because he didn't do it on purpose, doesn't mean it wasn't his fault. It was his presence that caused all of this. He couldn't have foreseen this, or and he never knew we was being attack by The Operator, but without Tim, none of this would've happen. I'm not against the guy, but it's clear that it is his fault, and that's the tragedy of it all.

Well-said, and I agree with you completely.

I see Tim as irredeemable at this point. Even if he can defeat TO, he has by proxy caused irreparable damage to so many people. As you put it, he doesn't deserve what he's been given, but that doesn't take back what he has been given. The tragedy is definitely in how hopeless things are for everyone involved - especially Tim.

I think Rosswood will be the final showdown for the series. It seems to be the place with the least amount closure and thus the area that contains the most open questions. How many of these questions will actually be addressed is anyone's guess.

I enjoyed that, but I didn't like how Tim did nothing. Sure, Alex has a gun, but this is a moment that Tim's been waiting for a long time.

The fire was very cool and realistic. And the acting was quite good.

Yeah but hey, Alex was the one who really wanted him to audition for Marble Hornets.
