Let's start with Seth, Amy, & Sarah: It's not very good when I can summarize many of the Big Names

you're delusional if you're calling those people "Big Names"

This whole thing was supposed to revolve around events that occurred during the production of Marble Hornets, which makes Seth, Amy, & Sarah major characters. Yes, they don't do much or have much screen time. That's sort of the problem. The characters who are technically supposed to be important actually aren't.

And even if you want to keep splitting hairs, that's not a point in their favor, because then it means that their only major characters are Tim, Alex, Jay, & arguably Jessica. Brian doesn't do anything outside of the old footage either. The Operator just photobombs constantly. This just shoots further holes in their statement that Marble Hornets is "about the characters" (all 4 of them!)

Lithp: "I don't believe the ending was satisfactory, due primarily to 2 factors. The first being: too few questions were answered. The second being: characters were underdeveloped."

420Goku: "No u."

...
Well, you can't argue with the facts, Lithp.

I believe the ending was satisfactory, due primarily to 2 factors. The first being: few questions were answered. The second being: characters were developed just enough.

I'm actually satisfied with the ending. I am not 1 of the 30% who voted that it was "Forgettable."

That said, I'm grading it with the understanding that it's their 1st major horror production. Which comes with a hefty amount of "They need to step up their game."

It's more the response to the ending that I'm unsatisfied with. Maybe the Ask Me Anything will change my tune. Or solidify it. We'll see.

don't argue with goku420, he's only 11 years old (said it in a post once)

willing to bet the new stuff coming to the MH channel is just the s1 commentaries. seems they're already done and they're selling new s1 dvds, why we gotta wait!

Seriously? That's not even what any of this was about. It was about that guy trying to say Seth Sarah and Amy were main characters.

This forum has really gone to shit ever since the ending showed up and basically made everyone go through an existential crisis.

Personally, I hope people don't grill them over the ending itself. The lesson I'm hoping Trosephim learns from feedback is: Don't introduce mysteries which aren't relevant to the main plot/motivation. Time could be better spent fleshing out the mysteries which are relevant.

Somehow, your avatar enhances the sting of your comments, lol. Maybe I'm just imagining Tim with his sunshades and pink helmet speaking them.

The lesson I hope they learn is that if it's supposed to be about the characters and not the answers, they better develop the characters a lot more.

These comments killed me.

I think what we generally agree is that we want them to learn about narrative focus. IE focus on what's important, don't build up what is not.

I want them to learn to read criticism. It was apparent that people expected there to be answers at the end, it was apparent that they wanted loose threads to be addressed and their great mystery of Brian=Hoody wasn't fooling anybody. A series released in the fashion MH was has the advantage of getting feedback all the way through its production but they scarcely took advantage of that.

Come to think of it, has there ever been a long running series with paranormal elements that actually managed to wrap up most of it's plot threads? Marble Hornets, LOST, The X-Files...all had many interesting mysteries and a legion of fans scrutinizing the littlest details trying to find answers, and it all amounted to jack shit in the end.

Some people are willing the cut the creators some slack because Marble Hornets was their first production, but I can't say I'm inclined to do the same. Amateurs or not, they worked on this series for five years. Five. Years. I know they weren't devoting their every waking moment to the series' production, but they couldn't have spent some time brainstorming some answers, or planning out the course of a season? It reminds me of criticisms I've heard about The X-files: That even if they were making it up as they went along, 9 seasons and 2 movies was more than enough time to wrap up all the loose ends, but they didn't.

My logic is basically:

Marble Hornets goes nowhere: Strike 1.

They had 5 years to pull some plot out of their asses: Strike 2.

...Proceed with caution.

Anyway, I don't know, it depends on how you define "long running" & "paranormal elements."

Hey guys, I just noticed something when watching this entry. Not sure if other people saw it, but Tim didn't seem to be limping in this entry despite getting shot in the leg in Entry 86. I'm going to take this as evidence for the "this is an older tape" theory.

You mean when he fell through the floor? I thought the fall was what broke his leg and even then, it only looked like he sprained it. I still support this theory though. That explains how Hoody had the mask in 83.
