but that wasn't ambigous, it was just....empty.

Perfect example here.

In BWP, you had all of the build up in the traditional narrative structure without having a 'resolution' ending. The bloody teeth left outside the tent, the rocks outside the tent, Josh disappearing and then screaming on the last night.

The ending was ambiguous, but it was an ending that made sense due to the mythology and what had happened in the film. One scene that was cut from the theatrical version but was in an early Sundance cut was a plant interview in the city mentioning that Rustin Parr made the kids stand in the corner because he didn't like the eyes watching him, and that's what you see Mike doing before Heather gets kblammoed by whatever was in the basement. That's a great example of modifying a story to be 'ambiguous'.

You can contrast that with the Last Broadcast, which was a great film until the ending where they basically did spoonfeed everything to you in switching to 3rd person and showing David Leigh being the killer. IMO that ruined the movie because there was a chance to end it earlier with some ambiguity. For example, when they start pointing to David Leigh being the killer, they could have ended the documentary when they mentioned they got the idea for the Jersey Devil hunt from a viewer, 'D something'.

The MH ending is the equivalent of the BWP cutting from a scene of them being lost in the woods to them driving back to town and end movie with no exposition.

Well, The Last Broadcast still could have worked with David Leigh as the killer. The clues were all there early on (particularly in the IRC that gave the Jersey Devil idea to the show hosts). But WHO. WAS. CAMERA?

BTW: Lack of spoilers doesn't mean that TLB is ruined for you. It's a perfect textbook case for would-be filmmakers of how to create a beautifully creepy atmosphere and putz it up in a way that really makes the plot-impaired storytellers facepalm.

It doesn't matter. Some people are going to be concerned about some questions, some are going to be concerned about others. Sometimes, questions are answered, just not explicitly confirmed enough as answers. But usually those are the less actually important to the plot question. Like the ark is a word we say a lot, cause it's in the actually name, but it's just whatever cryptic bullshit Brian happened to be spouting when he made a YouTube account. I think it comes up in an actual entry once? Really though, it probably is that dark ass Operator place.

But yeah, some people are gonna be hung up on that. To me though, that's like when the fans complain that the narrative isn't focusing on the more obscure characters that they specifically like. You see that a lot in fandoms. In this case, it's like there's these plot points the actual story never really focused or hinged on, which some people always thought were interesting and wanted more out of.

That's a valid opinion about your experience with the series. But don't pretend it's their shitty writing that's responsible. If a casual viewer watched through Marble Hornets, now as a complete series, they would not feel there were really obvious unturned plot points. You have to be obsessed like us. And as a fan who's really pretty obsessed, and has been since 2010, I actually liked this season. I didn't watch this season waiting for answers the whole time. I enjoyed when it was scary, and enjoyed the character development, and when shit got answered, I was satisfied with the answers.

Basically, I won't shit on your opinion that you weren't satisfied, but don't tell me I was satisfied cause I have lower standards, cause I think my standards and the series are both great.

So why am I satisfied if this ending, if it is an ending, is objectively bad just because it doesn't feed you anything?

Is it just me, or does it look like a hand reaches for Jessica when the distortion starts over her face?

Yes! I slowed it down frame by frame and noticed this. Also, the distortion is wierd since it doesn't seem to be the same angle that the regular footage shows - but then, that can be said about other distortions throughout the series.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
As for Skully, I believe that Skully was a sign of Death. If you look closely at that frame of Skully in the mirror in that entry, it looks almost like Amy is the one wearing it as you can see the blonde hair behind it. Entry 86 claims Amy is Dead, and Alex had not seen her (or couldn't remember) since 26, so being a mark of her death makes sense.

Unanswered questions aside, this was a pretty bad ending for the series, I mean really, it was just... off

Again, #86 would have been better

Oh shit. I saw that too, but I just remembered Alex's "Gone" speech from S1 and how the shadow hand reached towards him at the end.

Because the questions are the driving point of the series. Many people, myself included, have been watching since the first season because they want to see the questions answered, the mysteries solved, the loose ends strung together. It's a little fucking offensive when the writers deny this to their viewers, fumbling their responsibilities as storytellers by making it intentionally ambiguous. It's like a gigantic middle finger to anyone who was actually interested in the plot.
Then I would simply argue that you're concerned about the wrong questions.

That's not an argument.
What you said sounds like a quote taken completely out of context.
How and why are his questions wrong?

No, because it's terrible

Like some people said, 86 would have been a better ending

It looks like it's just her hand with the picture just being flattened.
