[TRAILHEAD]The Athena Incident

Just received the following email and couldnt see any mention of the email used on here:

Quote:
Dear Russell,

I'm writing to you out of desperation, having no idea what to do next. Last week my roommate Rachel took her own life. It seemed to be a straightforward suicide and she even left a note, but since then some disturbing things have happened. I've written about the events so far, as well as everything I know, on my blog, which you can read here:

http://josiesreed.wordpress.com

You may wonder how I got your email. After Rachel disappeared I went through her things, in particular a bound composition book that she left on her desk. Inside the front cover was a list of names and emails. Yours was among them.

Any help or advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Josie S. Reed

Email address was idleasapaintedshipSPLATgmail.com which is a great addy Surprised

The Poem in the note is by Ted Hughes (Birthday Letters)

Also the owl is "The owl of Athena".

Have dropped Josie an email and will see what comes of it.

Thank you so much for writing me back. I'm really glad you trusted me enough to check out my blog and write me back. I have no idea why your name was in her notebook. There were about ten email addresses there.

I know this is crazy and that's why I sent out the emails. I haven't the faintest idea what to do next, but I will wait before I talk to anyone here at school about all of this.

Thanks for the image of the coin. It looks familiar for some reason but I can't figure out why. Maybe I've seen something like it in class. Should I show it to my art history professor? Not say anything, just ask him about the coin out of context?

I will email you if I get any more letters or memos or if there are any new developments

Will miss you bunches, Elethamei, & double dang if you're leaving today b/c after looking up on Wiki that "ΑΘΕ" is short for ΑΘΕΝΑΙΟΝ, meaning "of the Athenians"...

Josie wrote:
Thanks for looking it up! I guess the meaning doesn't come as any surprise. A good friend of mine, Katie, is coming for a visit this weekend. We've been best friends since childhood and I trust her with my life so I plan to tell her everything.

Oh no, she's gonna drag someone else into this! I don't know if that's such a good idea.

I'm leaving early tomorrow, so this is maybe the last time I could check the forums. Btw, amandel, I'm coming to the Netherlands Wink I'm super excited! (Sorry OT)

Oops I sent an email about the Dewey decimal system LOL, Russell's link makes a lot more sense though. Anyway I got a reply about an email I sent regarding an albatross, like the bird in the poem, called wisdom and therefore its link with Athena. I sent the email reinforcing that the article was probably irrelevant but I got this reply:
Quote:
Really interesting! Thank you! I think the wisdom connection is really relevant. I've come to the conclusion that pretty much all birds symbolize wisdom at some point in history and literature. So I'm guessing that's relevant to the Aves club.
