Brian's descent into Hoody - Should we see it on the DVD? Hey everyone,
One feature I think would be really intresting to see on the DVD would be a special feature which would depict Brian's descent into Hoody. Perhaps, begin with a couple of clips of how Brian and Tim became friends over time, then have The Operator unbestknown to Brian appear gradually over time in the course of their developing friendship, Brian completly oblivious, Tim uneasy (but not quite registering The Operator himself), some new tidbits about that went down during the filming of Marble Hornets and then have Brian spat out of Operatorverse far from home, lost and afraid, filming himself, trying to keep himself together to save Tim.
With his gradual memory loss over time, we will see entries where apparently he has discovered ways to 'save' everyone from The Operator, but either from video loss or his own memory loss, the entries are either lost or never filmed and we'll see Brian's gradual descent from his humorous upbeat self to the barely operational shell that is Hoody. He's not operarting out of his shack at Rosswood at this point, but has spotted Alex and decides to move on and is trying to impart that he has to move on, but he can't quite remember where to find everything he has, hence leaving his journal behind.
In such a way, I don't think it would undo the mystery, while being a nice tidbit for fans who have watched the series. Perhaps, we also see in two seperate features how Sarah and Seth met their fate as well, with new tidbits thrown in to The Operator's motives?

I'd be totally cool with that.

Re: Brian's descent into Hoody - Should we see it on the DVD? Dude, no. Three reasons.
1. There really are enough clues provided in the series that don't require too much stretching, and the rest allows enough room for speculation because not everyone can be satisfied.
2. It won't take only a couple of clips, or even a few. It would need its own series. Which would be cool. Is Brian gonna drop out of med school (or nursing school, whichever it is that he'll be doing, according to the most recent posdcast that I remember [#12]) for it? I doubt it. (And never mind the question of why this stuff would have been on camera in the first place--at least the recording of the entries in Marble Hornets, which was partly found footage and partly a sort of documentary vlog, made sense.)
3. It would require something as expressionistic and surreal as entries like Entry #83 have been, and would be as much visual as aural (if not more so), and would be left open to the same old criticism of "That didn't explain a THING!" They'd need to be able to portray what happened in Brian's mind. So if it's not projected onto the camera as memories, fears, and other sufferings have been in the early Season 2 and in many Season 3 entries in particular (and with TO's presence or with some sort of weird connection with emotion), then it will have to be spoken out loud. And that would run the risk of being forced. This ain't one of Lovecraft's stories, even his best ones, in which he was constrained by the limits of the page and so either had to find the proper balance between dialogue and narration or else conflated the two (with often uneven results). Can't see why it's necessary. The clues that are needed are all there. They're just not in the form of, "My GOD! My fuckin' head. Where the fuck am I? WHO the fuck am I? What the FUCK? Hello! A fuckin' camera! And it has a fuckin' tape. Let me fuckin' press play. [Watches fuckin' tape.] My GOD! That faceless fucker fuckin' transported me to his fuckin' fuck land. I'm FUCKED! Hello! That fuckin' camera that fuckin' fuck fuckin' left on me has some fuckin' tape left... And... my crack video editing fuckin' skills are fuckin' coming back to me... And... hello! in this fuckin' storm drain opening by this fuckin' maintenance tunnel of this fuckin' old... hospital?... an old fuckin' book on code making..."
That's really what could be getting set up here. Even without a fuckin' guest crossover teleplay by Adam Rosner. It's telling too much (though it makes up for five years of abstaining from indulging in f-bombing). In extra features on a DVD, at least. If THAC and Brian want to make "The Hoody Chronicles," I'd be down with it to an extent. But that would be a whole new series. As I fuckin' said. Some things really should be left to the mystery.

Re: Brian's descent into Hoody - Should we see it on the DVD? Also, it's unclear that Brian ever wanted to save anyone from The Operator. He seemed to be unable actually to end Alex's life in Entry #67. And he certainly talked big (on screen). But he really seemed as Hoody to conflate justice with vengeance and in many respects not to care about parsing the differences. But empty shells will be empty shells, won't they?

Not really meaning to be a dick on it. I just disagree with you emphatically.

No, if it was going to be featured at all, it should've been in the main series.

I would settle for something shorter shedding some slight on some of his plans from later in the series, like did he intentionally set up Jay's death and why and such.

Yeah that's my feeling.
I agree that it would be unwieldy and probably cannot be done without a "spin-off" series.
However, as I look back on the series I really enjoy a lot about it. Plus I am a big defender of series creators who provide entertaining content for free.
To me its not that the ending was so bad, as it signaled to me clearly that I will never know what totheark/hoody was all about. I really enjoyed the TTA vids and everyone's attempts (and sometimes successes) to figure them out. Especially when a video would tie into a future entry. There were so many clues about what happened before they were actually revealed to us.
So to see that storyline just get thrown aside with a terrible reveal and death was disappointing. But I did hold out for hope of some closure. The end of the series just meant it wasn't going to happen.
I would really just like some good commentary explaining things. I realize they couldn't reveal secrets for seasons 1 and 2 since the series was still going on. However, now that it's over I would like to see them explain something rather than just goof through the whole thing.

There are so many unanswered questions that any tidbits would be extremely welcome.

To answer your question, this seems like something that should be in the main series, not an extra.

I wouldn't mind it. Since it turned out that the "Ark" wasn't really anything and Brian was less mastermind and more maniac, his thought processes post-Op become much less complicated. In short, it isn't a story that really needs to be told, but if they wanted to do it, I'd watch it.

I would just like to see if there was more to the story, but they just didn't have the time/resources/drive to complete it. It feels so unfinished.

I would like there to be plot development in the DVDs, which to me is sort of like a step down from being able to incorporate it into the actual main series, but I'm not expecting it. The reason I want the DVDs is almost entirely because of "scenes from Alex Kralie's 'Marble Hornets.'"
